What is the CTET 2020 Exam?

CTET 2020 Eligibility

The official notification will contain details related to CTET 2020 eligibility for each post. Candidates need to make sure that they satisfy the educational requirement and the age limit criteria of the relevant post before applying for the exam. Eligibility for Primary and Elementary Teacher is given below. The age limit is also given below.

Educational Qualification for CTET 2020 Primary Teacher (Classes I to V) - Paper 1

  • Candidate passing Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and who has passed or is appearing for the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education [D.El.Ed].(or)
  • Candidate passing Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 45% marks and who has passed or is appearing for the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education as per NCTE Regulations 2002. (or)
  • Candidate passing Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and who is passed or is appearing for the final year of 4-year B.El.Ed. (or)
  • Candidate passing Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and who have passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Education(D.Ed).

Eligibility Criteria for CTET 2020 Elementary Teacher (Classes VI to VIII) - Paper 2

  • Candidates passing Graduation or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. (or)
  • Candidates passing Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (or)
  • Candidates passing Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed, per the NCTE Regulations. (or)
  • Candidates passing Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.El.Ed. (or)

CTET 2020 Age Limit

As per the official notification, the age of the aspiring candidates should not less than 18 years and not more than 35 years. Candidature of the candidates who don't satisfy the CTET 2020 eligibility criteria will be cancelled.

CTET 2020 Exam Pattern

CTET 2020 exam is conducted in offline mode. CTET 2020 exam pattern will have two phases, Paper-1 and Paper 2.  Paper-1 aims at testing the proficiency of the candidates in languages, knowledge of the psychology related to learning and teaching along with other core subjects. Paper-II will also have similar sections aimed at testing the skills of the candidates. Candidates can choose two languages out of the 5 available options.  Candidates can choose to appear for either paper-1, paper-2, or both. Candidates who qualify in the written exam of CTET 2020 exam will be called for the Interview process.

CTET 2020 Paper for the primary stage will be having Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). The first section "Child Development and Pedagogy" will be based on the educational psychology of teaching and learning of children of 6 to 11 years.

The Language-I section will focus on proficiency in the language of imparting instructions. Language-II will be related to language, communication skills, and comprehension abilities. The language I and Language II, both will be different. You will need to opt for languages from a set of available languages.

CTET 2020 Application Form

Follow the below given step-by-step procedure for CTET 2020 total form fill up and applying.

  • Step 1: Firstly, you have to log on to the official website of CTET i.e. www.ctet.nic.in
  • Step 2: Further, you need to find the “Apply Online” link and open the same.
  • Step 3: Upon landing on the next page, you have to fill up the online application form. After its completion, please note down your Registration No./Application No. for future use.
  • Step 4: After filling the form, you will need to upload scanned images of your recent Photograph and Signature. Please keep in mind that your signature should not be smudged.
  • Step 5: The last step for the submission of your application is to pay the exam fee via e-challan (Offline mode) or debit/credit card (Online mode).
  • Step 6: For your future reference, it is advised to take a print out of your application form.

Directions for Scanned Uploads

  • Uploading of scanned photograph and full signatures are compulsory for any applicant.
  • Files to be upload should be in JPG/JPEG format.
  • The file size of both the uploads should be from 10 to 100 KB.
  • Dimensions of your photograph should be 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm.
  • The scanned image size of the signature should be between 3 to 30 KB.
  • Dimensions of your signature image should be 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm.

CTET 2020 Admit Card

CTET 2020 Admit card will be available on the official website. It will be released by the conducting authority 15 days prior to the date of the examination. The CTET 2020 Admit card will be released on the official website soon. To download CTET 2020  Admit card candidates have to give their application number, date of birth as a password, and security pin provided at the time of registration in order to login to the official website. The admit card contains details regarding the candidate's name, exam center, location, and CTET exam date 2020. Candidates need to carry the admit card to the examination hall on the day of the exam. Candidates who do not have a valid admit card will not be allowed to attend the examination.
