What is CTET?

CTET full form is the Central Teacher Eligibility Test which will be conducted to recruit candidates for teaching profiles all across the country by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), India. The Government of India introduced the CTET Exam to improve or bring new standards in teaching. CTET exam is based on the National Curriculum Framework. All graduates are eligible to apply for CTET 2020 exam on the official website www.ctet.nic.in

CTET is a National Level exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). CTET Exam 2020 is conducted to recruit candidates for teaching profiles all across the country for Primary classes (1-5) and Elementary or Secondary classes (6-8).

Certificate in Elementary Teacher Education (CETE) is a certification course, which is completely different from CTET. Kindly differentiate between the two.

CTET 2020 Eligibility

Eligibility for Primary and Elementary Teacher is given below. The age limit is also given below.

Educational Qualification for Primary Teacher (Classes I to V) - Paper 1

  • Candidate passing Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and who has passed or is appearing for the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education [D.El.Ed].(or)
  • Candidate passing Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 45% marks and who has passed or is appearing for the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education as per NCTE Regulations 2002. (or)
  • Candidate passing Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and who is passed or is appearing for the final year of 4-year B.El.Ed. (or)
  • Candidate passing Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and who have passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Education(D.Ed).

Eligibility Criteria for Elementary Teacher (Classes VI to VIII) - Paper 2

  • Candidates passing Graduation or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. (or)
  • Candidates passing Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (or)
  • Candidates passing Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed, per the NCTE Regulations. (or)
  • Candidates passing Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.El.Ed. (or)
  • Candidates passing Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. (or)
  • Candidates completing Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).

CTET Age Limit

As per the official notification, the basic age limit for CTET is 18-35 years.

CTET 2020 Syllabus

CTET 2020 syllabus for Paper 1 and Paper 2 is as follows:

Paper 1: CTET 2020 syllabus for Paper 1 includes Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I (compulsory), Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Language II (compulsory).

Paper 2: CTET 2020 syllabus for Paper 2 includes Child Development & Pedagogy (compulsory), Language I, Language II, Mathematics and Science, Social Studies.

CTET 2020 Exam Pattern

CTET exam 2020 is conducted in offline mode. CTET 2020 exam pattern will have two phases, Paper-1 and Paper 2. Questions asked in both the CTET exam papers are objective type questions. Candidates who qualify both the papers of CTET 2020 exam will be called for the Interview process.

For Classes I to V (Primary Stage)

Paper for the primary stage will be having Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). The first section "Child Development and Pedagogy" will be based on the educational psychology of teaching and learning of children of 6 to 11 years.

The Language-I section will focus on proficiency in the language of imparting instructions. Language-II will be related to language, communication skills, and comprehension abilities. Language I and Language II, both will be different. You will need to opt for languages from a set of available languages.

CTET 2020 Application Form

Follow the below given step-by-step procedure for CTET total form fill up and applying.

  • Step 1: Firstly, you have to log on to the official website of CTET i.e. www.ctet.nic.in
  • Step 2: Further, you need to find the “Apply Online” link and open the same.
  • Step 3: Upon landing on the next page, you have to fill up the online application form. After its completion, please note down your Registration No./Application No. for future use.
  • Step 4: After filling the form, you will need to upload scanned images of your recent Photograph and Signature. Please keep in mind that your signature should not be smudged.
  • Step 5: The last step for the submission of your application is to pay the exam fee via e-challan (Offline mode) or debit/credit card (Online mode).
  • Step 6: For your future reference, it is advised to take a print out of your application form.

CTET 2020 Application Form will be available on the official website www.ctet.nic.in. CTET Application Fee can be paid through both online and offline modes. CTET exam form 2020 fees for General or OBC candidates writing Paper-1 or Paper-2 will be INR 700/- and the candidates applying for both the exams have to pay INR 1200/-. Candidates belonging to (SC/ST/PWD/Female) writing Paper-1 or Paper-2 have to pay INR 350/- and the candidates applying for both the exams have to pay INR 600/-. Directions for Scanned Uploads

  • Uploading of scanned photograph and full signatures are compulsory for any applicant.
  • Files to be upload should be in JPG/JPEG format.
  • The file size of both the uploads should be from 10 to 100 KB.
  • Dimensions of your photograph should be 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm.
  • The scanned image size of the signature should be between 3 to 30 KB.
  • Dimensions of your signature image should be 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm.

CTET 2020 Admit Card

CTET 2020 Admit card will be available on the official website. It will be released by the conducting authority on June 18, 2020. To download CTET 2020 Admit card candidates have to give their application number, date of birth as a password and security pin. Admit card contains details regarding the candidate's name, exam centre, location, and CTET exam date 2020.
