MGU CAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria

MGU CAT 2019 is a University Level Entrance exam, which offers to get admission in 27 Post Graduation courses in Mahatma Gandhi University. Before filling the MGU CAT 2019 Application Form, candidates need to check the MGU CAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria. It is discussed here broadly.

Eligibility Criteria for MGU CAT 2019

MGU CAT 2019 Exam eligibility conditions are broadly classified into the following.

  • Qualifications: The basic eligibility for all the programmes is a bachelor's degree. Candidates can check the below table for the eligibility criteria for various programs:

 M.Sc Chemistry (Inorganic Chemistry), (Organic Chemistry), (Physical Chemistry), (Polymer Chemistry)

The candidate must have a B.Sc degree in Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics as a subsidiary subject. They must have secured at least 50% marks or CGPA of 2 in Part III to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.Sc Physics, Specialization from Astrophysics, Theoretical Physics, Material Science, Applied Electronics

The candidate must have a B.Sc degree in Physics with Mathematics as a subsidiary subject with at least 50% marks or its equivalent CGPA to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.Sc Biochemistry, M.Sc Biotechnology, M.Sc Microbiology, M.Sc Biophysics

B.Sc qualification in Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry or Physics with at least 50% marks or CGPA of 2 in Part III to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.Sc Environment Science and Management

B.Sc degree holder in any of the following subjects: Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology, Geography, Life Science, Environment Science, Environment Management, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Plant or Animal Science, Agriculture, Fisheries, Aquaculture, Horticulture, Forestry or a B.Tech in Civil/Mechanical/Chemical/ Environmental or equivalent examination with at least 50% marks to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.Sc Environment Science and Disaster Management

B.Sc degree in any subject with minimum 50% marks or equivalent CGPA to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.A. Malayalam

A  bachelor’s degree in Malayalam with minimum 45% marks or CGPA of 1.8 in Part III or a degree in Arts/ Science with minimum 50% marks or CGPA of 2 in Part II Malayalam to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.A. English

A bachelor’s degree in English with at least 45% marks or CGPA of 1.8 in Part III or degree in Arts/Science with a minimum of 50% marks or CGPA of 2 in Part I English to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.A. Politics and International Relations, M.A. Politics and Human Rights, M.A. Politics (Public Policy & Governance)

A bachelor’s degree in Economics/ Politics/History/Law with at least 45% marks or CGPA of 1.8 in Part III or degree in English/Sociology/Anthropology/Psychology/Geography/Philosophy/ Commerce with minimum 50% marks or CGPA of 2 in Part III or a science graduate with at least 60% marks in Part III to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.A. Gandhian Studies, M.A. Development Studies

A bachelor’s degree in any subject with at least 45% marks or CGPA of 1.8 in Part III to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019 to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.A. History, M.A. Anthropology

Bachelor’s degree in the faculty of Social Sciences with at least 45% marks or CGPA of 1.8 in Part III to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.Sc. Disability Studies and Rehabilitation Sciences

Bachelor’s degree in Arts with at least 45% marks or CGPA of 1.8 in Part III or any Science degree with a minimum of 50% marks or CGPA of 2 in Part III to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.Sc. Psychology

The candidate should be a graduate B.A./B.Sc Psychology with at least 50% marks or CGPA of 2 in Part III to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.Sc. Computer Science

Candidate must have a B.Sc degree in Computer Science/Computer Application/BCA or any other B.Sc degree with Computer Science as the main subject. The minimum marks obtained should be 50% to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

Master of Tourism and Travel Management specialization in 1) Aviation Management, 2) Tour Operations and 3)Health Tourism

The candidate must be a holder of Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks in any discipline of the MGU University or any other University recognised by the Mahatma Gandhi University to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

L.L.M

L.L.B. graduate with a minimum percentage of 50% marks to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M. Ed. In Language Education (English, Malayalam, Hindi, Arabic & Sanskrit), Mathematics Education, Science Education, Social Science Education, Commerce Education, IT Education

Must have a B.Ed degree with at least 55% marks or CGPA of 2.2 to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.A. Economics

The Candidate must be a bachelor’s degree holder in Economics/Mathematics/Statistics with at least 45% marks or CGPA of 1.8 in Core and Complementary subjects or equivalent degree from an institution approved by Mahatma Gandhi University to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

  • Reservation for Categories: Out of total seats available in the university there is reservation for some categories like

    • Reservation of Persons with Disability: 3% of total University seats with respect to the programme are reserved for this category.

    • Special Reservations: The candidate falling under these categories can make use of the concessions. The categories are:

      • Economically backward among forwarding communities: The reservation of this category is 7.5% for non-professional courses and 6.5% for professional courses.

      • Teacher's quota: One seat is reserved for teacher's quota. It is for teachers who are working in govt aided schools/colleges and serving for full time.

      • Foreign student's quota: An additional 10% of seats or 2 seats are reserved for foreign students who are ambitiously looking for PG courses

    • Mandatory Reservations: The candidates who fall into this category can avail the concessions.

There is no such provision as the test is for Mahatma Gandhi University Only.
