Updated on - May 21, 2025

The COMEDK UGET 2023 cutoff is a very important reference for engineering applicants hoping to get admitted into top Karnataka colleges. Such cutoff ranks, following each counselling round, reflect the least scores required for getting admitted to various colleges and courses. These COMEDK UGET cutoffs should be known as they provide useful insight into competition intensity and serve as a guideline to set reasonable expectations for intending applicants.

Going through the past year's cutoff marks will help the candidates understand the expected marks to be scored for the upcoming exams. However, one must note that the category-wise marks or the college marks shall differ every year depending on various factors affecting the exam.

COMEDK UGET Minimum Passing Percentage

Candidates need to meet the COMEDK UGET qualifying marks to reach to the next stage of the examination. The passing percentage is different for each category and is mentioned in the table below.

The COMEDK UGET Cutoffs come out independently per counseling round—Round 1, 2, and 3—and by category as well (General, OBC, SC/ST, etc.). The ranks not only vary across colleges but also across the branches of a particular college. For example, a sought-after branch such as Computer Science has a significantly lower closing rank than Civil Engineering at the same institute.

Knowing how the cutoff system operates guides aspirants to make informed choices regarding course and institution while entering their options in the counseling process. In addition, it guides students to anticipate their possibility of admission to their preferred colleges based on previous year trends and data. Though these cutoffs are not pre-decided, comparing last year provides a reasonable idea of where a student would be, particularly in deciding whether to attempt multiple times or have backup options, such as attempting the KCET or other private universities.

New Branches and Their Cutoffs

The development in specialized streams like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, and Cyber Security has been tremendous.

The CSE (Data Science) stream in RVCE closed with a rank of around 531. BMSCE's AI & Data Science closed with a rank of around 1,317, and AI & Machine Learning with a rank of 1,363. MSRIT's AI & Machine Learning program had a closing rank of around 1,964. These figures indicate a growth in interest and competition for these new streams.

Mid-Tier Colleges: Prospects for Mid Rankings

For mid-rank candidates, certain decent colleges offer good education. Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering's CSE course was closing at approximately 3,657. Siddaganga Institute of Technology's CSE closed at approximately 7,109, and NIE Institute of Technology had a closing rank at approximately 6,952 for the same. These colleges are known to have good courses and placements.

Lower-Tier Colleges: Prospects for Better Ranks

Ranking higher candidates still get a chance to apply to most engineering colleges. Acharya Institute of Technology's CSE course closed around 24,270, CMR Institute of Technology's around 11,123, and Jain College of Engineering's around 58,133. These colleges may have a higher closing rank, but they offer other courses and can be a gateway to becoming successful engineers.

Tips for Aspiring Candidates

Examining previous years' cutoffs is crucial for setting practical goals and choices. The candidates should try to improve their core subjects and, if necessary, attempt mock tests to evaluate their level of preparedness. Staying updated about official COMEDK notifications and counseling procedures is essential. Additionally, visiting several colleges and branches can increase the chances of securing a seat in a desired program.

The COMEDK UGET 2023 cutoff details show the competitive nature of Karnataka engineering admissions. With these trends, the candidates can plan a better strategy of preparation and make informed decisions during counseling. One needs to stay updated, be option-friendly, and be regular in preparation to enter an aspirant's preferred engineering course.

For candidates who failed to get a seat or are dissatisfied with their assigned college, studying the COMEDK cutoff trends can be an effective tool to prepare for another attempt. Last year's cutoffs, particularly when observed for a 2–3 year span, tell us how the demand for a particular college and branch has been changing. For instance, a steady decline in closing rank for a specific branch can suggest deteriorating popularity or a seat increase. Conversely, a steep rise can reflect increasing competition.

This information enables repeat candidates to determine realistic target scores and target their preparation accordingly. It also enables them to choose whether to reappear for COMEDK, opt for some other exam such as KCET, or explore private college entrances. Additionally, knowledge of these trends aids in mental preparation—students are aware of what is possible and where they are in readiness terms.

They can concentrate more on time management, precision, and challenging parts of the COMEDK paper, such as tricky Physics numericals or lengthy Math problems.
