COMEDK is an undergraduate Entrance Exam  (UGET) that is conducted every year by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka. This exam acts as a crucial gateway to admissions in the private medical, engineering, and dental colleges of Karnataka. The exam was started in the year 2004-05 (the year of its inception) and has been conducting the annual entrance exam since then. The governing body has also been organizing a single window centralized counselling process over the last 15 years. 

The COMEDK UGET exam is held in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode, which means that the candidates have to answer the questions by marking their answers on a computer system. The exam is not conducted in any other mode such as pen and paper mode.

The COMEDK UGET 2022 cutoff denotes the minimum rank that candidates must achieve to gain admission into undergraduate programs in engineering, medical, and dental programs offered by colleges across Karnataka. COMEDK UGET 2022 Cutoff Highlights

 The COMEDK UGET 2022 exam for Engineering and Architecture programs was conducted on June 19, 2022, by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) across approximately 400 centers nationwide. Results were declared in the fourth week of June 2022, enabling candidates to check their scores and ranks online.

Following the results, the online counselling process commenced in the last week of June 2022, conducted in multiple rounds to ensure fair seat allotment across all categories and merit ranks. Candidates had to register, pay the counselling fee, and upload required documents through the official portal to participate in seat allotment.

This structured process ensured transparency and equal opportunity for admission to around 20,000 engineering and architecture seats offered by COMEDK member institutions for the academic year 2022-23.

COMEDK UGET Eligibility Criteria

Candidates need to meet a few basic eligibility criteria for COMEDK UGET exam based on nationality, domicile, and age. Each of these is important for securing admission through the exam.

Nationality: Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for COMEDK UGET 2022. Foreign nationals, NRIs, PIOs, and OCIs are not eligible to appear for the exam.

Domicile: COMEDK UGET is open to candidates from all states of India without any domicile restrictions for general merit seats. However, candidates seeking reservation benefits under Karnataka quotas must provide a valid Karnataka domicile certificate. For Kalyana Karnataka Region (KKR/HK) quota seats, both KKR/HK and Karnataka domicile certificates are required.

 Age Limit: Candidates must have completed 17 years of age on or before December 31, 2022, to be eligible. There is no upper age limit. Candidates below 17 years as of January 1, 2022, need to obtain an eligibility certificate from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).

 Educational Qualification:

• B.E./B.Tech:
  Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with English. They should have secured a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) for General Merit candidates and 40% for SC, ST, and OBC candidates of Karnataka. Each subject must be passed individually. Diploma holders are not eligible for COMEDK UGET.
• B.Arch:
  Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics as a compulsory subject and qualified in NATA or JEE Main Paper 2. Minimum aggregate marks required are 50% for General Merit and 45% for reserved categories.

 COMEDK UGET Testing Criteria and Qualifying Marks

 COMEDK UGET 2022 evaluates candidates primarily on their understanding of core subjects from the 10+2 syllabus, specifically tailored for engineering aspirants.

 Exam Pattern

• The exam is conducted online (computer-based test) with a total duration of 3 hours.
• It consists of 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), divided equally among three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (60 questions each).
• Each question carries 1 mark, making the total marks 180.
• There is no negative marking for incorrect or unanswered questions.
• The question paper is in English.

Qualifying Marks and Eligibility for Ranking

• Candidates must have passed the 12th standard (or equivalent) examination recognized by the State or Central Government.
• For B.E./B.Tech courses, candidates should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with English.
• General category candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics taken together, with each subject passed individually.
• SC, ST, and OBC candidates of Karnataka State have a relaxation and need a minimum of 40% aggregate in these subjects.
• Diploma holders are not eligible to appear for COMEDK UGET, as there are no lateral entry admissions.
