IISc Bangalore was conceptualized in the late 1800s. To this end, Tata set up a provisional committee under the leadership of Burjorji Padshah, an educationist, to come up with an outline for the proposed university. The Institute which started with just two departments – General and Applied Chemistry and Electrical Technology – today the college has over 40 departments expanded across six divisions: Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Electrical Sciences, Interdisciplinary Research, Mechanical Sciences, and Physical and Mathematical Sciences.

B.Tech admission 2022 is open and applications are welcomed till August 31. We get KVPY fellowship, which is ₹5000 per month for first 2 years, then ₹7000 for the next two along with a contingency grant of ₹20000 per year. Besides, we can go for other internships and summer projects. I have done a reading project in Differential Geometry. We have a placement cell which manages industrial placements as well as recruitments in Govt organisations like ISRO and DRDO. However, most of the people opt for PhD in foreign universities. Average package will be around 12-15 lakhs per annum, but as I said, a very small proportion of students go for it. Packages range from 10 lakhs to 25 lakhs per annum. Alumni plays a very crucial role in the life of the students. They are doing their PhDs in various locations around the globe and recommend good places for pursuing further education based upon their experience. The course fee is INR 15000 every year. This is excluding the mess and hostel bill which will come close to INR 5000 every month( together). The scholarship available is institute, Inspire, and KVPY. Everybody will get one or the other.
Clubs & AssociationsThere are different clubs like dance, music, literature, poetry, linguistics, programming and photography clubs. Most of the festivals are celebrated here. The main event conducted here is an open day where the whole institution holds a large scale science exhibition. It is a very grand event.
