The TISSNET exam pattern is designed to take a major part in the General Knowledge section. The number of analytical questions and verbal questions are equally divided. So, a typical TISSNET exam question paper has 40 General Awareness questions, 30 Analytical and 30 verbal questions.

TISSNET 2023 Model and Marks for B.A. Programs

The TISSNET entrance test will be of 90 minutes duration, and the total marks of the examination will be 100. Part A will be a 60-minute test with multiple choice questions on Current Affairs, Social Awareness, Logical and Analytical Reasoning, carrying 60 marks.

Part B will be a written test with descriptive questions in English. A candidate is expected to write two short answers in 30 minutes carrying 40 marks. The candidates must attempt both parts and make sure they qualify in both.

Section Based TISSNET 2023 Paper Pattern

As mentioned below, the TISSNET 2023 paper is divided into three sections. Therefore, the section-based exam pattern for TISSNET 2023 is as given below. 

English Section

This section of the TISSNET question paper is framed to judge the candidate's ability to use and understand the English language. English Proficiency section comprises 30 questions.

Candidates who have good grammatical knowledge can score well in this section. However, candidates must know the proper usage of words and sentence formation to crack this section. Passages will be given along with questions as a part of reading comprehension.

Also, this section is framed to check a candidate's knowledge of synonyms, antonyms, and one-word answers. The aspirant's vocabulary must be strong. Reading the newspaper daily can help candidates to increase their vocabulary.

Above all, a prospective candidate is expected to be good at the fundamentals of English grammar.

Mathematics & Logical Reasoning

The analytical and numerical abilities of the candidates will be tested in this section of the TISSNET 2023 exam. Thirty questions are asked in this section.

Most of the questions asked to involve basic mathematical concepts like prime numbers, composite numbers, square roots, etc. The section may have tricky questions, but they remain easy to attempt.

Practicing basic mathematics questions daily will help one score high in this section.

General Awareness

Forty questions will be asked in this section of the TISSNET exam. A candidate must be a habitual reader of newspapers to score well in this section.

Moreover, using current affairs and General Knowledge books published by renowned companies will help. Someone good at general knowledge will not face any problem answering questions from this section.

The below table shows the distribution of questions amongst three major subjects in the TISSNET exam. The General Awareness section contains more questions, hence holding the maximum weightage. The candidates must give some extra focus on the General Awareness section.

TISSNET 2023 Selection Procedure

The candidates are shortlisted for the next rounds of the TISSNET process of selection. The next round is pre-written test. Find below some important information related to the pre-written test of TISSNET.

Candidates need to attempt two sections of the pre-written test. 

Section 1: In this section, the candidates will need to write an essay in not more than 1000 words on the themes like Culture, Economic & Political Significance, and Contemporary Socio-Political Conditions.

Section 2: In this section, candidates will require to solve some questions of case studies.

Candidates will appear for the personal interview after the pre-interview/ written test.

TISSNET 2023 Exam Pattern for Pre-Interview Test

Once the TISSNET 2023 result is announced, the candidates who qualified for the exam will be called to appear for the pre-interview test and PI (Personal Interview). Below mentioned is the official structure of the TISSNET PIT.

The scores of the TISSNET will be considered only for shortlisting the candidates for stage 2. The TISSNET scores will not be included in the candidate's final score. The PIT and PI scores will be calculated in a 70:30 ratio for final selection. The candidates who have applied for the M.A HRM & LR and M.A ODCL, their TISS-MAT, PIT, and PI scores will be aggregated in a 30:40:30 ratio.

TISSNET 2023 Marking Scheme

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences defines the marking scheme of the exam. The exam duration of the TISSNET 2023 exam is 1 hour 40 minutes, i.e., 100 minutes. A total of 100 multiple choice questions has to be answered in 100 minutes. There are no negative marks for wrong answers. Find below the detailed marking scheme of the exam.

  • The TISSNET exam will contain a total of 100 questions. Every question will carry one mark.
  • The General Awareness section of the exam contains 40 questions, each carrying one mark that means the total marks of this section is 40 marks.
  • The English Proficiency section and Maths & Logical Reasoning contain 30 marks each. Each question carries one mark, meaning both sections are 30 marks each.
  • The TISSNET examination has no negative marking scheme for any attempt of question or wrong answers.

Changes Introduced in TISSNET Exam Pattern 2023

The authorities introduced some changes in the TISSNET exam pattern last year, which will be carried on in 2023. Therefore, the candidates must go through the changes introduced in the TISSNET exam pattern.

The negative marking scheme of the TISSNET examination remains the same as last year. The candidates will get 100 minutes to attempt all the 100 questions. The TISSNET examination is the only exam candidates will have to appear for all the programs.

The marking scheme of the exam will be the same as it was in the previous year. The TISSNET exam will be divided into three sections. General awareness will contain 40 questions and is of 40 marks. English Proficiency and Mathematics & Logical Reasoning will contain 30 questions each and a total of 30 marks for each section.
