MICAT Marking Scheme 2026
The candidates must check the marking scheme of MICAT 2026 to understand the waymarking done for their responses in the entrance test.
- Section A: It consists of a psychometric test. There is no negative marking in this section, but qualifying for the psychometric test is necessary.
- Section B: The descriptive test consists of questions requiring candidates to write the answers to the questions in brief. This section also does not have negative markings.
- Section C: It consists of four sections, divergent and convergent thinking, verbal ability, quantitative ability, data interpretation and general awareness. For every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
MICAT Calculation of Normalisation of Scores
Applicants must check the details for calculating the normalization of the score for MICAT 2026 shared below.
- The score obtained by the candidates in a sub-section of MICAT-I/MICAT-2 will be converted to a normalized score through the appropriate statistical methods.
- The normalized score will be calculated for every sub-sections.
- The institute will determine the normalized score by considering the scores of all qualifying candidates up to the stage applicable to the candidate.
- The total MICAT-I/MICAT-2 score will be calculated using normalized or scaled scores for each MICAT component in the four subsections.

Normalized score – Verbal Ability (VA) of a candidate 'X' in MICAT-I/MICAT-2 = (Score - VA of the candidate 'X'/Maximum obtained by any candidate from those who appeared in MICAT-I/MICAT-2 in VA) multiplied by Maximum Possible Score in VA in MICAT-I/MICAT-2.
