What is a good MICAT score? As per the latest exam pattern, a raw score of 45-50 in the aptitude section is a good score in the MICAT. The MICAT score holds 30% weightage in the final merit list calculation. Therefore, one must have sufficient marks in order to get into the reputed MICA Ahmedabad.

MICAT exam is conducted for admission into PGDM & PGDM-C programs of MICA Ahmedabad. MICA is a renowned institute in India for marketing, and its admission process is quite unique. To appear for MICAT, one needs to first apply using their CAT/GMAT/XAT scores. Post that, they need to take MICAT 2022, followed by the GE and PI rounds.

What is a Good Score in the MICAT Exam?

A raw score of 45-50 in the aptitude section of MICAT can be considered a good score in the MICAT exam. However, this does not take into consideration other factors for selection. The table below explains what is a good MICAT score while also taking other factors into account.

Note that the table considers only the total score for the Aptitude sections. Other sections' scores have not been disclosed by the institute. Remember, the scores itself does not guarantee selection. Here are the reasons for the same:

• A good MICAT score holds 30% weightage in the admission process of MICA. However, MICA admissions are not based on the MICAT scores alone.
• MICA also considers CAT/GMAT/XAT scores along with descriptive and psychometric test scores for admission.

What is the MICAT Score?

MICAT score is the total marks achieved by the candidate based on his/her MICAT exam performance. On the basis of right and wrong attempts, students can calculate their raw scores in Section C.

Psychometric & descriptive test scores are not divulged to the test-taker. Therefore, one has to be subjective when it comes to evaluating their performance in Sections A & B of MICAT

Normalised Scores in MICAT: MICAT takes place in two phases: MICAT I and MICAT II. Therefore, normalisation is necessary to adjust for any variations in the difficulty level between the two sessions. The authorities prepare the final merit list based on the scaled scores of MICAT.

MICAT Marking Scheme 2022

Here is the marking scheme for MICAT 2022 as per the newest exam pattern. 

• Test-takers are given a +1 mark for each correct response
• A deduction of 0.25 marks for every wrong response in the Aptitude section
• The Descriptive Test consists of four questions worth 30, 20, 20 and 10 marks each.
• Psychometric and Descriptive Test sections do not include negative markings.

Past Year Trends for Selection

MICA does not disclose the MICA cutoffs on which it offers admission. Therefore, it becomes difficult for the candidates to estimate a good score in the MICAT. We can get some information considering the previous year’s trends. However, the information must only be used for reference purposes.

In the past, there have been instances where candidates with a 45 score on MICAT were selected. However, those with more than 60 marks could not make it to MICA. 

Therefore, we can say that even if two students get the same MICAT score, their selection probability will not be the same. This is due to the fact that MICA has a unique admission process and accepts candidates based on various other factors.

How to Achieve a Good Score in MICAT?

Effective preparation for the Aptitude section, writing practice, and consistent efforts are required to ace MICAT. One important point to note based on the past year's trends is that a minimum of 80 percentile in CAT is required for selection. Moreover, aspirants should take the Descriptive section very seriously and must aim to answer most of the questions in the Psychometric Test.
