What is GCET?

Full form fo GCET is Goa Common Entrance Test. GCET is a state-level entrance examination test conducted by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) under the regulation of the Government of Goa. DTE invites candidates of Goa state for admission to the first year of professional degree courses in Engineering and Pharmacy, Architecture courses through NATA, and admissions to MBBS, BDS, BHMS (Homeopathy), Allied Health Sciences, BAMS (Ayurveda) and Nursing courses will be based on NEET-UG.

  • Authority: Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Goa, has complete rights for conducting GCET/ Goa CET and decides the admissions and allotment of seats for various courses in different colleges.

  • Level: Goa CET 2020 or GCET 2020 is a state-level entrance examination conducted by the government of Goa for pursuing degree courses like Nursing, Pharmacy, Engineering, Architecture, etc.

  • Schedule: The schedule of Goa Common Entrance Test 2020 has been announced on the official website of the DTE. The GCET 2020 exam is going to take place on 7th May and 8th May this 2020.

  • Note: For admission in BE and B.Pharm courses in institutes in Goa state, the candidates are required to appear for Goa Common Entrance Test 2020.

GCET 2020 Important Dates

Application Form for GCET will be available on the official website of the DTE i.e. dte.Goa.gov.in from May 26, 2020 to June 10, 2020. Candidates have to submit their Application Form in the given location (Directorate of Technical Education & Ravindra Bhavan).

At the time of submitting GCET Application Form, candidates have to collect the GCET 2020 Admit Card from the concerned official. He/she has to submit the application within the submission date.

GCET/ Goa CET 2020 will be conducted through offline i.e. Pen & Paper-based Test (PPT) in June month [Physics (10:00 AM to 12:00 PM) and Chemistry (02:00 PM to 04:00 PM)]. The exam for Mathematics subject will take place in June month from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

  • Results: Result will be declared on the official website.

  • Counselling: The DTE will invite students for counselling those who have cleared the cutoff. Here the candidate can choose college and course for admission.

GCET Eligibility Criteria

Candidates need to check the basic eligibility criteria for GCET 2020. He/she must ensure their eligibility to appear in the GCET exam before filling up the application form. The minimum basic GCET eligibility criteria are as under:

  • He/she should have Physics, Mathematics, and English as the compulsory subjects and one of the subjects in Chemistry/ Biotechnology/Biology/ Computer Science.
  • Candidates should have completed 10+2 or its equivalent exam from a recognized board.
  • Applicants should have scored at least 45% marks aggregate (40% for SC/ST/PH candidates)
  • There is no age limit prescribed.
B. Arch.
  • Candidates must qualify for the NATA exam.
  • Applicant must have passed 12th or equivalent exam with Mathematics subject.
  • He/she should have scored a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates).
  • There is no age limit for this course.
BHMS and AHS
  • Candidates should have completed 17 years as on 31st December of the admission year.
  • Candidates must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry & Biology subject.
  • They must have secured at least 50% marks (40% for SC/ST/PH candidates).
B. Sc. Nursing
  • He/she should have got at least 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC candidates).
  • Candidates passed in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subject.
B. Pharma.
  • 12th or equivalent exam passed with Physics, Chemistry, and English as the compulsory subjects.
  • Apart from the above subjects, candidates should have an additional subject in Mathematics, Biotechnology, Biology, and Computer Science.
  • There is no age limit.
  • Age: The candidate should be at least 17 years of age at the time of admission.

  • Qualification: Candidates should have qualified the 10+2 mode of education from any of the government recognized state boards or any other equivalent boards with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as the main subjects to appear in GCET 2020.

  • Citizenship: The candidate should be an Indian citizen in order to qualify for the GCET 2020. Non-resident Indians or NRI with a valid passport can also apply under-seat reservations for NRI category.

GCET Syllabus

The syllabus for GCET will be based on the prospectus recommended by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Porvorim. Standard twelfth (Science) subjects, for example, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics will be incorporated into the syllabus. The official specialist will likewise furnish the total Syllabus of GCET alongside the information pamphlet.

  • BE: The syllabus for B.E includes the topic from Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry of Class XI and Class XII prescribed by the State Government of Goa.

  • B.Arch: The syllabus for B.Arch will be prescribed by the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) and the students can follow the NATA Board for regular updates.

  • Medical: The syllabus for Medical courses will be from the Science (Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology) from Class XI and Class XII prescribed by the State Government of Goa.

  • Books: Candidates can refer to the books which are prescribed by the conducting authority and the toppers.

GCET Exam Pattern

Goa CET 2020 will be conducted through offline mode i.e. Pen & Paper-based Test (PPT). The question paper will contain 225 Multiple Choice Question's (MCQ's) for a duration of 2 Hours i.e. 120 Minutes.

  • Marking Scheme: +1 marks are awarded for each correct answer and there is no negative marking for incorrect and unanswered questions.
  • Medium: The GCET 2020 Exam Question Paper will comprise of questions in the English language only.

GCET Application Form

Aspirants are advised to fill the application form carefully within the stipulated time period. Go through the application details given below to fill the application form.

  • GCET Application Form will be available on the official website i.e. dte.Goa.gov.in from May 26, 2020. The last date to submit the GCET 2020 Application Form is on June 10, 2020.
  • Application Forms:
    • Form A: For admission into Engineering & Pharmacy Courses.
    • Form B: For admission into NEET based professional degree courses in MBBS/ BDS/ AHS/ BHMS/ BAMS/ Nursing.
    • Form C: For admission into Architecture [B.Arch] degree course based on NATA.
  • Registration Fee: There is no option to pay GCET 2020 Application Fee through the online method. Candidate has to pay the registration fee only by Demand Draft of INR 2000/- payable at Panaji, in the favor of “Director of Technical Education” drawn on any Scheduled Bank, or any other approved form of remittance, as may be duly notified (currently candidate should pay in HDFC Bank).

GCET Exam Centres

GCET 2020 will be held at given Test Centres in the state of Goa. The code for preferred centres should be correctly entered on the application form. Any request for a change in choice of papers and/or center selected/allotted will not be entertained after the issue of the Admit Card.

  • Centre: GCET/ Goa CET 2020 will be conducted across 15 centres in Goa.
  • Choice: Candidates have to choose the GCET exam centre 2020 while filling the Application Form from the available alternatives.
  • Cancellation: The conducting authority has the right to cancel or change the Exam Centre if necessary. The candidate has no authority to question the DTE.
  • Note: The candidate must be present one hour before at the GCET 2020 exam Centre for verification. If the candidate is not able to appear for the exam in time, then he/she won't be allowed to write the examination. The candidate will have to carry admit card along with anyone Government Photo ID to the exam centre on the day of the examination.

GCET 2020 Admit Card

The hopefuls who will effectively present their application form alongside the application charge can get their admit card. GCET admit card will be issued to the candidates after submission of the application structure. The elements, for example, roll no, test date, time and it will be mentioned on the admit card. It will be obligatory for each contender to submit the admit card during the test.

  • Availability: The admit card for GCET/ Goa CET will be declared by the authority online on January 1, 1970.
  • Details: The admit card contains the details such as Name of Candidate, Roll Number, Date of Birth, Photograph, Signature, Examination Date, Exam Time, Exam Venue.
  • Without Admit Card: Candidates won't be allowed to appear for the examination without their admit card.
  • No Postal: The admission committee will not send GCET 2020 admit card to any candidate individually by post.

GCET Results

The Result will be available from July 10, 2020 (tentatively) on the official website which will be declared by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Goa. The Provisional merit list of GCET 2020 will consist of the ranks secured by the candidates along with their 12th standard and GCET 2020 scores.

Tie Break: Situations where two or more candidates securing the same aggregate marks may arise during the preparation of GCET 2020 merit list, the authorities will use the following methods as per the listed order:

  • Candidate with more marks in Mathematics will be ranked higher.
  • If there is a tie in Mathematics score, then the candidate who has scored more in Chemistry will be ranked higher.
  • If the tie is still not broken, then the candidate with higher aggregate marks of Physics and Mathematics in the 12th standard will be ranked higher. If the tie still persists, then those candidates who have scored higher in Mathematics (12th standard) will be placed higher in the rank list.
  • Finally, if the tie is still not broken, then the candidate who is older in age will be given preference.
  • Cut-off: Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Goa will determine the minimum scores obtained by the candidates to be considered for admission to various undergraduate engineering courses at the universities and colleges in Goa.

GCET Counselling

After the announcement of the result, the candidates need to fill the admission form, for example, Form A or Form B or Form C according to the ideal course. After the submission of the admission structure, the shortlisted applicants' list will be discharged. The hopefuls whose name is there in the merit list will be called for the first round. The hopefuls need to enter their preferred college and course at the time of Counselling. The confirmation will be affirmed after the verification of documents.

  • Counselling Date: The counselling of GCET/ Goa CET 2020 will commence from January 1, 1970.

  • Application Form for Admission:

    • Form A: For admission into Engineering & Pharmacy Courses.
    • Form B: For admission into NEET based professional degree courses in MBBS/ BDS/ AHS/ BHMS/ BAMS/ Nursing.
    • Form C: For admission into Architecture [B.Arch] degree course based on NATA.

Counselling Procedure:

  • Step 1: Candidates have to fill the above-mentioned admission application form based on the course opted.
  • Step 2: Completed forms have to be submitted in person at the Directorate of Technical Education, Porvorim.
  • Step 3: After submission, the candidate will be issued an acknowledgment card which has to be produced at the time of counselling.
  • Step 4: There will be three rounds of Goa CET Counselling, but an additional round may be held in case there are vacant seats left.
  • Step 5: Only those candidates who are listed on the merit list of GCET will be allowed to participate in GCET 2020 counselling.

For getting admission in GCET one has to score more than 50% in PCM in 12th class.After that students have to pass an entrance examination called JKCET. If they score good they get college on the basis of ranking. The procedure is simple. There are 300 seats available in college. So top 300 rankers can get GCET but if they don't admit themselves, further counselling goes on till all seats get filled.

The admission in GCET (G.H. Patel college of engineering and technology) is done on the basis of your JEE (mains) and 11-12th marks. 60% of your 12th board marks (state board /central board /icse) is considered and 40% of the JEE mains is used. On basis of this merit list is created and based on rankings of different colleges admission procedure is carried out. This all admission is carried out by ACPC(admission commission of professional courses). Link :www.jacpcldce.ac.In above procedure, a token of INR 20,000 rupees is first paid to ACPC and rest of the fees is paid to college (fees excluding 20,000). For example let's say: My merit rank was 6826 and the cut off for mechanical was 7000 rank so I will get in mechanical engineering branch. But if my rank was more than 7000 then I won't get admission. The same applies to different branches as well. The other way of admission is through management quota where you need to pay the fees for 1 year directly and separate rank is allocated in this case rather than the ACPC Rank as mentioned above.
