What is the Ashirwad Scholarship?

Provided by the Government of Punjab, the Ashirwad scholarship provides financial aid to students belonging to the SC/ ST/ OBC category who are domicile of Punjab state. Different Post-matric scholarships are provided to economically backward students to pursue their UG/ PG level education without any financial constraint. The Punjab Government has allocated 40% reservation for girl candidates.

Ashirwad Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

The main criterion for eligibility is that the student should be domicile of Punjab state. The other eligibility criteria are listed below: 

  • The candidate should be an Indian National belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC category.
  • The students should have passed the Class 10th from any Government/ Private recognized college or Board of Secondary Education in Punjab.
  • The age of the applicant should not be less than 17 years while applying for the scholarship.
  • The annual family income of the SC/ ST candidate should not exceed INR 2,50,000 from all sources.
  • The annual family income of the OBC applicant should not exceed INR 1,00,000 from all sources.
  • Students pursuing distance learning/ correspondence courses are also eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • Applicants pursuing post-graduation in Medicine are eligible to apply for the scholarship provided they are not practicing during the course.
  • The student applying for this scheme should not be getting a scholarship from any other source.

Group 1- UG/ PG level courses in Medicine, Engineering, Technology, Planning, Architecture, Design,  Fashion Technology, Agriculture, Veterinary and allies sciences, Management, Business Finance/ Administration, Computer Science/ Applications, Commercial Pilot Licence,  PG diploma courses in Management and Medicine, CA, ICWA, CS, ICFA, LLM, MPhil/Ph.D./ Post-doctoral Programmes.

  • Maintenance allowance of INR 1200 to hosteller and INR 550 to day scholars.
  • Thesis printing charges of INR 1600
  • Study tour charges of INR 1600
  • Book allowance of INR 1200
  • Reader allowance of INR 240

Group 2- Professional courses leading to Degree/ Diploma/ Certificate in Pharmacy, Nursing, LLB, BFS, Mass Communication, Hotel Management & Catering, Travel, Tourism, Hospitality Management, Interior Decoration, Nutrition & Dietetics, Commercial Arts, Financial Services for which minimum level of study is Class 12 and other PG courses not covered in Group 1 such as MA, M.Sc, M.Com, M.Ed, MPharma.

  • Maintenance allowance of INR 820 to hosteller and INR 530 to day scholars.

Ashirwad Scholarship Application Process:

The application process of the scholarship is online. The Ashirwad application form is available in the scholarship portal and interested applicants should apply within the stipulated time. The detailed application procedure is given below:

  • Interested applicants’ should visit the Punjab Scholarships official website.
  • He/ she should then click on the ‘Post-matric Scholarship Portal’ under the ‘Students Corner’ section.
  • As a new user, the applicant should click on the ‘Student Registration’ tab to register on the scholarship portal. A User ID and password is generated on successful registration.
  • The candidate should then log in to the portal by using the registered User ID and password.
  • The applicant has access to the Ashirwad Scholarship online application form which should be filled with all the required details.
  • The student should then recheck all the entered details thoroughly to avoid the application being rejected by the State Education Board.
  • The candidate should upload all the necessary documents and ‘Submit’ the application form.
  • Finally, the applicant should take a printout of the submitted application for future reference.

Ashirwad Scholarship Documents Required:

The Ashirwad Scholarship application process requires the uploading of various important files which are listed below for the easy accessibility of the candidate while applying for the scholarship.

  1. Domicile certificate
  2. Caste certificate
  3. 2 passport size photographs
  4. Attested copy of school/ college mark sheets/ certificates
  5. Parents’ income certificate
  6. Residential proof
  7. Disability certificate (if applicable)
  8. Copy of first page of bank passbook

Ashirwad Scholarship Renewal Process:

All existing candidates should renew their scholarships every year provided they have a minimum class attendance of 75% in the previous year. The renewal process is explained below:

  1. Renewal candidates should visit the Punjab Scholarship Portal.
  2. The applicant should log in to the portal using the existing User ID and password.
  3. The student should make any changes/modifications in the details entered if required.
  4. Finally, the candidate should check for correctness of details entered and ‘Submit’ the application.
  5. A copy of the submitted application has to be taken for future reference.
  6. The application status can be checked online on the portal.
