What is the DCE Scholarship?

The Department of Collegiate Education (DCE) of Kerala provides financial aid to meritorious and deserving students of Kerala state to pursue higher education without feeling the financial burden. Different subsidiary departments of the Government of Kerala have come together to help the deserving students in achieving quality education.

DCE Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

The scholarship is available for all students of Kerala state. The detailed eligibility criteria are listed below:

ITC Fee Reimbursement Scholarship

  • Applicants should belong to a minority community such as Muslims, Christians, Parsis, Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists.
  • He/ she must be pursuing ITI courses.
  • The annual family income of the candidate should not exceed INR 8,00,000. 

2.

C H Muhammedkoya Scholarship

  • Only girl students are eligible to apply.
  • She should be a Muslim/ Converted Christian.
  • The applicant should be a graduate with minimum 50% marks in the last qualifying examination.
  • Merit seat students can apply.
  • Candidates from self-financed colleges are eligible to apply.
  • Hostel candidates residing in recognized colleges are eligible for hostel stipend.
  • The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed INR 8,00,000. 

3.

APJ Abdul Kalam Scholarship

  • Applicants should belong to a minority community such as Muslims, Christians, Parsis, Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists.
  • Only merit seat students can apply.
  • He/ she should be pursuing government/ government-funded polytechnic courses.
  • The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed INR 8,00,000.

Prof. Joseph Mundassery Scholarship Award

  • Candidates should belong to a minority community such as Muslims, Christians, Parsis, Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists.
  • He/ she should be pursuing 10th/ 12th/ Vocational higher secondary education.
  • The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed INR 8,00,000. 

5.

Mother Teresa Scholarship

  • Candidates should belong to a minority community such as Muslims, Christians, Parsis, Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists.
  • The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed INR 8,00,000. 
  • Students should be enrolled in Nursing/ Diploma/ Paramedical courses only.

CA/ ICWA/ CS Scholarship

  • Applicants should belong to a minority community such as Muslims, Christians, Parsis, Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists.
  • The annual family income of the candidate should not exceed INR 8,00,000. 
  • He/ she should be enrolled in CA/ ICWA/ CS courses only.
  • The applicant should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in the last qualifying examination.

7.

District Merit Scholarship

  • The candidate should be pursuing higher secondary/ vocational higher secondary/ ITI/ Polytechnic courses only.
  •  He/ she should have passed the 10th-grade examinations with A+ grade in all subjects.
  • The applicant should have studied 10th grade from the Board of Public Examination, Kerala state. 

8.

State Merit Scholarship

  • The applicant should be pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate courses from government/ government-aided educational institutions only.
  • He/ she should have scored at least 50% marks in the last qualifying examination.
  • The annual family income of the candidate should not exceed INR 1,00,000.

9.

Sanskrit Scholarship

  • Applicants should be pursuing graduate/ undergraduate courses.
  • Sanskrit should be a compulsory subject in the course taken.

10.

Muslim Nadar Girls Scholarship

  • The applicant should be a girl child belonging to BPL families/ backward communities.
  • She should be pursuing higher secondary/ vocational higher secondary/ undergraduate courses from government/ government-aided science colleges/ institutions.

11.

Music Fine Arts Scholarship

  • Candidate should be studying in a government music college/ government fine arts college.

12.

Blind/ PH Scholarship

  • The applicant should be blind/ deaf/ physically disabled.
  • He/ she should be pursuing courses from government/ government-aided arts and science colleges/ music colleges.

13.

Hindi Scholarship

  • Candidates should be pursuing graduate/ undergraduate courses.
  • Hindi should be a compulsory subject in the course taken.

14.

Suvarna Jubilee Merit Scholarship

  • BPL students in 1st year of undergraduate/ postgraduate courses can apply.
  • The applicant should have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the last qualifying examination.

15.

Post-matric Scholarship for Minorities

  • Applicants should belong to a minority community such as Muslims, Christians, Parsis, Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists.
  • Students can be from Class 11 to Ph.D.
  • The applicant should have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the last qualifying examination.
  • The annual family income of the candidate should not exceed INR 2,00,000. 

16.

Central Sector Scholarship

  • The applicant should have scored above 80% marks in Class 12.
  • He/ she should be studying in undergraduate/ postgraduate courses that are recognized by UGC/ AICTE/ MCI/ DCI.
  • The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed INR 8,00,000. 

DCE Scholarship Rewards and Benefits:

The scholarship amount varies for the different scholarships offered under the DCE Scholarship. The details of the scholarship benefits to be availed by the applicants is explained in detail below:

  • INR 7000 per annum for students pursuing professional courses.
  • Hostel stipend of INR 13,000 per annum.

  • INR 6000 per annum.

4.

Prof. Joseph Mundassery Scholarship Award

  • INR 10,000 for every selected scholar at different levels.

5.

Mother Teresa Scholarship

  • INR 15,000 per annum.

6.

CA/ ICWA/ CS Scholarship

  • INR 15,000 per annum.

7.

District Merit Scholarship

  • INR 1250 per annum.

8.

State Merit Scholarship

  • INR 1250 per annum for graduates.
  • INR 1500 per annum for postgraduates.

9.

Sanskrit Scholarship

  • INR 200 per month for students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

10.

Muslim Nadar Girls Scholarship

  • INR 125 per annum.

11.

Music Fine Arts Scholarship

  • INR 1500 per annum.

12.

Blind/ PH Scholarship

  • Blind students with annual family income less than INR 2,50,000 get a fee waiver.
  • Physically handicapped students (hostellers) with annual family income less than INR 4,50,000 will get a hostel fee waiver.
  • Physically handicapped students (day scholars) with annual family income less than INR 4,50,000 will get a boarding fee waiver.

13.

Hindi Scholarship

  • INR 500 per month for undergraduates.
  • INR 1000 per month for postgraduates.

14.

Suvarna Jubilee Merit Scholarship

  • INR 10,000 per annum.

15.

Post-matric Scholarship for Minorities

  • Admission and tuition fee waiver of up to INR 10,000 per annum.
  • Up to INR 1200 per month is provided for 10 months as a maintenance allowance.

16.

Central Sector Scholarship

  • INR 10,000 per annum for the first 3 years and INR 20,000 per annum for the next 2 years for graduates.
  • INR 20,000 per annum for postgraduates.

DCE Scholarship Application Deadline:

Every year several scholarships are availed by students of Kerala for assistance in their higher education. The scholarships are open for application for a limited time. The details of the application period for the scholarships are listed below:

DCE Scholarship Application Process:

All the scholarships under the DCE Scholarships are applied online on the Minority Welfare Scholarships portal or the Department of Collegiate Education (DCE) scholarship portal. The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) of the Central Government also provides Kerala state scholarships. The step-wise application process is given below:

  • The applicant has to first register on the respective scholarship portal.
  • He/ she has to set a valid Login ID and password and enter all the basic details to register on the portal.
  • Enter the education board details and also personal contact details to complete registration.
  • The next step is to fill the online scholarship application form.
  • The applicant should read all the guidelines before starting to fill the DCE scholarship application form.
  • Next, he/ she should select the scholarship type and enter the required details.
  • Then the completed application form should be checked for correctness, and all the necessary documents should be uploaded.
  • Finally, the applicant should click on the ‘Submit’ button to complete the submission process.
  • Now, the candidate should take a printout of the form and submit it to the respective educational institution with all supporting documents attached.

DCE Scholarship Renewal Process:

All candidates who are already receiving the scholarships have to renew it every year to continue availing the scholarship. The candidates should check for notifications about the renewal dates on the official website and apply accordingly. The steps for the renewal process of the scholarship are given below:

  • The candidate should log in to the DCE portal with the existing credentials.
  • He/ she should check the notification section for updates regarding his/ her scholarship.
  • The candidate should click on the notification, if available and edit/ update the details for the respective scholarship.
  • The applicant should then upload the scanned mark sheet of the last qualifying examination of the current course and any other document needed.
  • Finally, the renewal form should be submitted and a printout of the same should be taken.
  • The candidate should submit the printout along with all supporting documents to the respective educational institution for further processing.

Documents Required for DCE Scholarship:

The documents that the applicant needs to apply for the scholarship are:

  • Mark sheet of last qualifying examination
  • Proof of admission in the educational institution
  • Birth certificate/ Date of birth proof
  • Domicile certificate/ Residential certificate
  • Course certificate of current educational course
  • Parents’ income certificate
  • Caste certificate
  • ID proof of candidate
  • Electronic clearing service(ECS) form from the bank where the applicant has an account
  • First-page copy of bank passbook
