Dr Ambedkar Scholarship 2024: Eligibility, Last Date, Amount

The Dr Ambedkar Scholarship is a scholarship scheme for the domiciles of Punjab belonging to the SC and OBC categories. The State Government aims to provide financial aid to deserving students from economically weaker backgrounds for higher studies. Furthermore, the State Government of Punjab, the Department of Welfare of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Backward Classes (BC) have launched several schemes under the Dr Ambedkar scholarship scheme. 

The Ambedkar scholarship for SC students is available for candidates whose annual family income should not exceed INR 2,50,000. However, the last date to submit the applications for the Bhim Rao Ambedkar scholarship is January 31, 2024.

Dr Ambedkar Scholarship Eligibility Criteria 2023-24

The Punjab Government provides Dr Ambedkar scholarship to the economically backward SC/ OBC category students domiciled in Punjab. Candidates who have cleared class X to those pursuing a postdoctoral degree can apply for the Dr Ambedkar scholarship. The other eligibility criteria for the post-matric scheme for SC and OBC students under Dr Ambedkar scholarship 2024 are as follows:

• The annual family income of SC students should not exceed INR 2,50,000.
• Applicants should belong to SC and should be Indian nationals.
• Students who shift their course of study after completion of one or more levels of education are not eligible to apply for the Dr Ambedkar scholarship. 
• Applicants pursuing postgraduate medical courses are qualified for the Dr Ambedkar scholarship 2024, provided they do not practice medicine.
• Candidates seeking distance learning/ correspondence are also eligible to apply.
• The student should have passed class 10 and should be enrolled in a post-matric or post-secondary course from a recognized institution.
• The student applying for the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar scholarship should not receive benefits from any other scholarships.
• Applicants receiving pre-examination coaching with financial assistance from the state/ central government are not eligible for the Dr Ambedkar scholarship government of Punjab program.

Post-Matric Dr Ambedkar Scholarship for OBC Students

Under the Post-Matric Dr Ambedkar Scholarship for OBC Students, candidates should have passed class 10 and enrolled in a post-matric or post-secondary course from a recognized institution. Students can refer to the details mentioned below.

• Applicants should belong to OBC and should be Indian nationals.
• The annual family income of OBC students should not exceed INR 1,00,000.
• Only two boys from the same family can apply for the Dr Ambedkar scholarship Punjab. However, this rule does not apply to the girl candidates.
• Applicants pursuing postgraduate medical courses are eligible to apply, provided they do not practice during the course period.
• Candidates pursuing distance learning/ correspondence are also eligible to apply for the Dr Ambedkar scholarship.
• Students receiving pre-examination coaching with financial assistance from the State/ Central Government are not eligible for the stipend during the coaching program.
• The student applying for this scheme should not be getting a scholarship/ stipend from any other sources.

Dr Ambedkar Scholarship Rewards and Benefits

The Government provides Dr Ambedkar scholarship amounts to deserving students and enables them to complete their higher studies. They will disburse the Dr Ambedkar scholarship amount directly to the scholar's bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The detailed scholarship benefits are explained below:

Dr Ambedkar Scholarship Amount for SC Students

The scholarship amount for the SC students are mentioned below.

• Thesis typing/ printing charges of up to INR 1600 to research scholars.
• Study tour charges of up to INR 1600 per annum for students studying professional and technical courses.
• Persons with disabilities get a transport allowance of INR 160 per month, an escort allowance of INR 160 per month, Special pay of INR 160 per month, and an additional allowance of INR 240 per month.

Dr Ambedkar Scholarship Amount for OBC Students

The scholarship amount for OBC students are given below.

• Thesis typing/ printing charges of up to INR 1000 to research scholars.
• Study tour charges of up to INR 900 per annum for students studying professional and technical courses.

Dr Ambedkar Scholarship Application Process 2023-24

The application process for the Dr Ambekar scholarship is online. The candidates should duly fill in the Dr Ambedkar scholarship form online obtained from the portal. The detailed application procedure is given below:

1. Applicants should visit the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship Portal.
2. As a new user, the student should click on the 'Student Registration' tab to register on the scholarship portal. A user ID and password are generated on successful registration.
3. To complete the Dr Ambedkar scholarship portal login, the applicants should click on the 'Registered Students' Login' and provide the user ID and password.
4. They should click on the 'Apply for Scholarship' to access Dr Ambedkar scholarship form.
5. The application form has to be filled in with all the required details.
6. The applicant should check for the accuracy of all the details entered and then click on the 'Register Scholarship Application form' to submit the Dr. Ambedkar application form.
7. The candidate has to click on the left side tab of the application form to upload all the documents needed to verify the candidate's credentials.
8. Finally, the applicant should take a printout of the submitted application and then submit it to the respective institute and all the attested supporting documents. 

Dr Ambedkar Scholarship Renewal Process

All applicants (both new and renewal applicants) interested in availing of the Dr Ambedkar scholarship should register themselves on the portal. They can obtain Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar scholarship online form on the official portal. Below are the details of the renewal process:

1. The renewal candidate has to visit the Dr Ambedkar scholarship portal and click on 'New Registration'.
2. They should enter the Dr Ambedkar scholarship login credentials, which were previously used.
3. The applicant should then click on the 'Renewal Application' tab for the current year.
4. All personal details have to be entered, and a new User ID and password are generated.
5. The candidate should log in to the portal using the new credentials obtained.
6. Dr BR Ambedkar scholarship form is displayed, where the applicant should enter details like last year's merit score and attendance details.
7. They can update any other information if needed.
8. The final step is to upload all the required documents and 'Submit' the renewal application form.
