What is SLAT Exam?

The SLAT is Symbiosis Law Admission Test. SLAT is a common written entrance exam conducted by Symbiosis International Deemed University (SIU) for Law course Admission. Symbiosis International University (SIU), officially Symbiosis International, is a University located in Pune, India. The University has 28 academic institutions spread over ten locations like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Nashik, Noida, and Pune. SIU is ranked among the top 25 colleges according to ARIAA Rankings.

Candidates who wish to pursue law programs in any of the colleges which come under the Symbiosis International University [SIU] have to appear for the SLAT exam as it is an admission/entrance test for these programs.

SLAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria

The SLAT conducting body is strict regarding the eligibility, and the candidate will be removed immediately if they fail to meet any of the criteria. Therefore, before enrolling themselves for the upcoming SLAT examination, the candidates must ensure that they satisfy all the eligibility criteria mentioned on the SLAT official website. The eligibility criteria of SLAT 2021 is given below:

Academic Qualifications

The candidates have to meet every criterion laid by the University, and if the candidate is not eligible, they can be cancelled during any point of the admission process. The academic qualification required for SLAT 2021 are given below:

  • Candidates shall clear their XIIth class (under 10+2 board) or an equivalent exam. Candidates shall clear their 12th class examination in a single attempt. 
  • Those who have a compartment or had once appeared for compartment examination are not eligible for SLAT 2021. In addition, candidates who have completed their 12th class through open/distance learning and the open university system are not eligible for SLAT 2021. 
  • Candidates will be asked to submit the necessary documents at the time of admissions stating that they fulfil all the eligibility criteria of SLAT 2021 and are eligible to pursue the law program.
  • Minimum aggregate: Candidates shall secure 45%, and SC/ST category candidates must have 40% as their aggregate.

Age Limit: As per the orders of the Supreme Court, there is no age limit for students applying for law programmes. 

OCI/PCO Candidates: The OCI/PIO candidates and the foreign nationals who want to study the undergraduate Law courses don't need to appear for the SLAT 2021 exam. Instead, their admission can be done through the Symbiosis Center for International Education.

SLAT 2021 Application Form

Candidates shall start registering for the SLAT 2021 from February, 2021, through the official website. Candidates are required to register and fill in all the required information on the portal to apply successfully.

The candidate who wishes to undertake SLAT 2021 shall first register themselves at an online portal. The official dates for registration will be declared soon. 

How to fill the SLAT 2021 application Form

The candidate shall visit the official website and register themselves from Feb 18, 2021, within Jun 28, 2021. After registration, upload a passport-sized photograph. The photograph has to be uploaded at the time of registering online, and the photograph should not be more than three months old. The steps to register for SLAT are given below:

Step 1: Registration 

The candidate has to visit the official website and register themselves and create a login I.D. Afterwards, start filling the application with Students personal details like,

  • The educational details of the student.
    • Matriculation marks
    • Higher secondary marks
  • The contact details of the candidate.
    • Name 
    • Phone number
    • E-mail ID
    • Address (both permanent and resident)
    • Parent’s name
    • Marital status
    • Date of birth
    • Domicile 

Step 2: Payment of fees

Pay the application Fee in the “Make Payment Tab” The application fee for SLAT 2021 is INR 1950 with an additional course fee of INR 1000, and it can be paid through any of the payment modes like,

  • Billdesk Gateway
  • Indian Bank Gateway
  • Demand Draft.

Step 3: Complete the rest of the registration process

Now the students will have to complete part 2 of the registration procedure. In this step, the students will have to select the programme they want to study and the institute they want to take admission to.

  • Choose the exam centre. 
  • After these steps, a confirmation mail from the university will be received, which will have the application number.
  • Print out the application form and save it for future references

Documents Required for SLAT 2021 Application

Candidates shall Upload the latest scanned colour passport size photograph at the time of Online Registration, and the photograph should not be more than three months old. Also, candidates should note that the lighting and focus on the face in the photograph is proper. The documents required while applying is given below:

The SLAT application fee is INR 1950, and an additional fee of INR 1000 for each course the candidate desires to pursue. The fees can be paid through any of the payment modes, and please note that it is a non-refundable transaction.

SLAT 2021 Admit Card

The admit card of SLAT 2021 will be available on the official website from Jun 29, 2021, to Jul 01, 2021. An authorised person will verify and authenticate the Candidates' Admit Card against the photo-id on the day of the test. An authenticated admit card is an important document without which the candidate will not be permitted to appear for further selection processes of SIU. If the Authenticated Admit card is lost, a duplicate authenticated admit card will not be issued. Therefore, it should be retained till the admission process is over.

Steps to Download SLAT 2021 Admit Card

The candidates can download the admit card from the official website with their login credentials. If the login I.D. is lost, the participants can recover them with other information. However, if that is not possible, the candidates can immediately contact the organising body. The steps to download admit card is given below:

  • Step 1: Go to the official website of Symbiosis International University (SIU)
  • Step 2: Go to the SLAT Page.
  • Step 3: The main page will appear. Click on the ' View admit card' on it.
  • Step 4: Use the login credentials (E-mail Id, Mobile Number, application Number, Date of Birth, Login Id and Password) and hit the submit button.
  • Step 5: The SLAT 2021 admit card will appear. Review it thoroughly. If anything seems incorrect, then complain immediately at the SIU helpdesk.
  • Step 6: Download the admit card irrespective of the mistakes found or not found.
  • Step 7: Take a print of the SLAT 2021 admit card, and keep it safe. The candidates are also suggested using cloud memory to save their admit card so that it is accessible in case of an emergency.

Note: Candidates shall paste the latest passport size, colour photograph on the admit card at the place provided. (The photograph should not be more than three months old.)

SLAT 2021 Exam Centres

SLAT 2021 shall be conducted in an online mode across 80 cities all over India. A candidate may choose three preferences for test cities. No change of test city requests will be entertained once a candidate has completed registration for SLAT 2021. The Test Centre and its address will be printed on the admit card. SLAT 2021 Exam Pattern

SLAT 2021 will be conducted in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. The duration of each test is 150 minutes. The SLAT examination will be held from Jul 10, 2021 to Jul 13, 2021. All the questions of SLAT 2021 are objective.

SLAT 2021 Marking Scheme

The candidate has to complete the exam within the allotted time; Each question has 4 responses. The candidate shall choose an appropriate response. There is no negative marking for wrong answers in SLAT exam and all the sections will be mandatory.

SLAT 2021 Result

SLAT 2021 results are announced on the official website on Jul 27, 2021 (After 3 PM). The candidates can check it on the official website by following the below-mentioned steps.

  • Candidates should visit the official website.
  • Enter the login ID and password.
  • View the result and take the print out of the result sheet for further references.

Once the candidates qualify the SLAT examination they shall get into any of the three symbiosis law schools (Pune, Noida, Hyderabad, Nagpur) under SIU. The candidates who clear the cut-off will get their name featured in the merit list. SLAT 2021 cut off will depend upon the following factors:

SLAT 2021 Cut-off

SLAT 2021 Counselling

SLAT Candidates should note that the counselling process at each SIU campus is exclusive. The schedule for registration, admission fee submission, document verification, and commencement of class may differ at each institute. This is because each SLS has its own administrative body, even though they belong to one University. To participate in the SLAT Counselling round, a candidate must produce all the required documents such as 10th and 12th mark sheets, Transfer and character certificates.

  • Counselling fees and registration: The candidate must register for the SLAT 2021 official website and register for counselling and pay the fees.
  • PI-WAT rounds: the participants have to attend the PI-WAT rounds, and certain judges will give them tests on general knowledge and current affairs.
  • Merit list and selection: the colleges will put upon their merit list based on the SLAT scores and PI-WAT score and the eligible students will be called in for the selection process.
