M.Sc. Biotechnology or Master of Science in Biotechnology is a postgraduate Biotechnology course.
Biotechnology is a field of applied biology that involves the use of living organisms and bioprocesses in engineering, technology, medicine and other fields requiring bioproducts.
It aims to deliver high-quality courses with strong vocational elements and professional skills development embedded across the curriculum.
It, also, aims at training manpower in the areas of Biotechnology such as:
Bioprocess Technology etc.
Biotechnology is being taught as major subjects in universities like:
Jadavpur University, Bengal
Institute of Chemical Technology of the University of Mumbai etc stand among the top M.Sc Biotechnology colleges in India.
The M.Sc Biotechnology course duration is two years and the syllabus is divided into four semesters.
Working on the health benefits and its implementations on a wider network for a composition of people with greater significance and research are some of the work ethics and contemporary responsibilities a Master of Science[M.Sc](Biotechnology) professionals have.
Research development of some elite and explicit organizations termed this course of role one of challenging and multitasking job in the globe.
M.Sc Biotechnology jobs are in some of the famous organizations like Kimberley-Clark and Nova-Del will definitely knock the door of the individuals who will graduate with the mentioned designation.
The first Advantage is the relatively low saturation level in this field. From facts and figures, it is quite evident that M.Sc. Biotechnology is not a very popular professional course among 12th Science students. Students prefer courses like BE / B.Tech, MBBS, BDS etc.
This has resulted in relatively less number of takers for this course. Ultimately, this has resulted in low job market saturation equally. So, it is safe to say that finding a good job after graduation won’t be a tough task when compared to heavily saturated courses.
Also, there is an attractive prospect of availability of lucrative scholarships. Many State Governments are offering all study expense covering scholarships to meritorious students, who choose to pursue an M.Sc course. However, note that such scholarships are provided to students scoring above 85% merit marks only.
Biotechnology is a rapidly developing sector. Advancements are being made at a good pace in this sector. Big firms are pouring in big money into it and new business opportunities are developing in this sector. Hence the M.Sc Biotechnology scope is booming.
These things have led to a huge increase in job openings in this sector. In short, Biotechnology graduates are in huge demand these days.

In India, the duration of such a Master's degree course, like any other post-graduation degree is 2 years. The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi or Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur conducts an integrated course on biotechnology. The duration of this course is 5 years.
Students, who have successfully completed the 10 + 2 + 3 model of education and have a Bachelor's degree in any of the following fields, are eligible to enroll themselves for such a kind of port graduation level of study:
The students should have minimum 50% marks as aggregate in the degree course.
The students will have to pass an entrance examination for admission in M.Sc. Biotechnology for some institutions.
Candidate securing less than 45% marks in Entrance Examination will not be eligible for admission to M.Sc. Biotechnology Course.
Admission to M.Sc Biotechnology program is through both entrance examination and merit-based. Certain universities offer both direct admission and entrance based admission to the program.
However, few Universities require candidates to have given any of the applicable Entrance Exams for M.Sc Biotechnology.
Candidates who are applying for the M.Sc Biotechnology program should beforehand have their results from the respective Entrance Exams required by the selected/opted Universities.
Applications for admissions can be availed either from the University Website or by visiting the Admissions Office of the same. Candidates will have to fill out the required details in a match with the existing documents.
Candidates are advised to have a look at the list of Entrance Exams applicable for M.Sc Biotechnology, for various Universities. Candidates should also make sure they qualify in the Education Eligibility criteria with the minimum required marks.
Enrollment in any of the Bio-Tech degree courses necessitates qualifying the entrance examination conducted by the different institutes located all over the country. All India Biotechnology Entrance Examination is the most famous among such examinations. To name a few of the other popular Bio-Tech entrance examinations in India here is a list:
