What is JELET?

Full form of JELET is Joint Entrance Examination for Lateral Entry. JELET is a State Level Entrance Examination conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) for admission into Pharmacy/ Engineering/ Technology through Lateral Entry Scheme (2nd Year).

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) is responsible for managing various Entrance Examination and subsequent Admission Procedure in West Bengal.

JELET is a State Level Entrance Examination Conducted every year. JELET 2019 will be conducted offline i.e. Pen & Paper-based Test (PBT) on 14th July 2019 to make sure there is no clash with the degree exam date. Finally, the admission will be given based on the rank secured in the JELET exam 2019 through Counselling and Seat Allotment process.

JELET Exam Dates

JELET notification is generally released in the month of March, the exam is conducted in the month of July and finally, the results are out in the month of August. The other JELET Important Dates are:

Registration

Application Form will be made available on the official website WBJEE JELET 2019 from 26th March 2019 and the last date to submit the duly filled Application Form is on 16th April 2019.

Admit Card

The Admit Card will be released by the WBJEE Board online for all the aspirants from 2nd July 2019. JELET 2019 will be conducted in offline mode i.e. Pen & Paper-based Test (PBT) from 14th July 2019.

Results

Results will be declared on the official website for all category candidates based on qualified marks on 16th August 2019.

Counselling Process

Candidates who have cleared the JELET 2019 will be called for the counselling process which will begin in the month of August. The exact date is not yet specified. 

JELET Eligibility

JELET is conducted for admission into Engineering and Pharmacy colleges. Thus, JELET Eligibility Criteria for both the exam varies on the basis of educational ground. Rest all eligibility conditions are the same for the aspirants seeking admission into each course. The eligibility conditions are:

Education

  • Pharmacy: The candidates must have passed Diploma in Pharmacy with minimum 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBC-B/ PwD) from an AICTE approved Institution.
  • Engineering/ Technology: The candidates must have passed Diploma in Engineering/ Technology with minimum 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBC-B/ PwD) from an AICTE approved Institution.

Nationality

The candidate must be a resident citizen of India.

Age Limit

Generally, there is No Upper Age Limit for the exam. But for B.Sc. candidates, the Upper Age Limit is 27 years as on 31/12/2019. Similarly, for Diploma in Marine Engineering candidates, the Upper Age Limit is 25 years as on 31/12/2019.

Academic Qualification

Aspirants with B.Sc and BE Degree who are looking for admission in Engineering or Technology course must have passed class XII with mathematics as a subject and also B.Sc or BE with a minimum of 45% marks from UGC recognized university.

Aspirants holding a diploma in Technology, Engineering, or Pharmacy and want to apply for degree course through JELET 2019 Exam must have scored 45% marks from any Polytechnic Institute or Pharmacy college/ Institute recognized by AICTE.

JELET Syllabus

The syllabus will be different for various courses such as Diploma in Engineering/ Technology/ Printing/ Agriculture/ Pharmacy and B.Sc Degree. The JELET Syllabus will be based on subjects from diploma and class 11th and 12th standard.

Topics: The JELET question paper will comprise of the following topics: Engineering Mathematics, Computer Application, Electrical Technology, Environmental Engineering, Strength of Materials, Engineering Mechanics, Soil and Water, Farm Machinery and Power, Food processes and Food Harvest Engineering, Basic Printing Engineering, Printers’ Material Science, Mathematics, and Pharmacy.

How to apply for JELET?

The application process is the same for both the courses. The Candidate has to take the following steps while applying for JELET 2019 Exam:

  • Registration: You have to register with your documented name, mobile number, and e-mail ID for the creation of a new account to fill the Application Form. The login credentials will be sent to the registered Mobile Number and Email Id.
  • Filling the Application Form: Fill the Application Form with details such as Personal, Academic, and Contact details as per the government proof.
  • Uploading of Images: Candidates have to upload the scanned images of their photograph, signature and left thumb impression.
  • Payment of Registration Fee: All the candidates have to pay a registration fee.
  • Confirmation Page: Once the candidate submits the Application Form a confirmation page with all the details filled on the Application will appear where candidates need to check once again and submit the Application Form.

JELET Application Form

Registration: JELET Application Form will be available on the official website i.e. www.wbjeeb.in from 26th March 2019 and the last date to submit the Application Form is on 16th April 2019 and all applicants are advised to enter their complete personal, experience, and academic information.

Registration Fee: All the candidates have to pay a registration fee of INR 500/- which can be paid online (Credit Card/ Debit Card/Net Banking) and offline (E-challan in Allahabad Bank).

Applicants are advised to take multiple copies of the JELET 2019 Application Form.

JELET Exam Pattern

JELET 2019 will be conducted offline i.e. Pen & Paper-based Test (PBT) on 14th July 2019. The question paper will contain Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The question paper comprises of 100 questions with a total of 100 marks. One mark will be awarded for every correct answer and 0.25 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

The time given to complete the examination will be 2 hours i.e. 120 minutes and the question paper will be in English.

JELET Admit Card

The JELET Admit Card will be released by the WBJEE Board online for all the aspirants from 2nd July 2019. Applicants can download the admit card by using login credentials. The Admit Card will contain details of the applicant i.e, name, date of birth, parents name, exam centre, registration number, etc. The candidate will not be allowed to appear at the exam centre other than the allotted centre for him/her in their Admit Card. 

Note: The candidates are advised to read the instructions on the admit card carefully and follow them during the conduct of the examination. 

How to Download JEE Admit Card?

The following steps to be taken for downloading the JELET Admit Card:

  • Log in to the official website of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEE) i.e. www.wbjeeb.in

  • Click on the link relevant to 'JELET 2019 Admit Card'.

  • Login with the credential (Registration ID, Username, and Password) provided at the time for registration to the registered email and mobile number.

  • The Admit Card will be displayed on the screen and the candidate must check all the details which are printed on the Admit Card.

  • Save and take a printout of the Admit Card for the future reference (till admission process).

JELET Exam Centre

JELET 2019 Exam will be conducted in 13 cities in the state of West Bengal. The candidates may choose up to 2 Exam Centre as there choice of location for JELET 2019. Candidates must make sure that they should be present 1 hour before the prescribed timing for the verification process, latecomers are not allowed to appear for the exam at any circumstance. Note: No request for change of allocated centre will be entertained under normal circumstance. Any examination zone will be dropped if the adequate number of candidates is not available.

Documents required at the Exam Centre

Candidates must carry valid Photo ID Proof along with the JELET 2019 Admit Card to the Exam Centre without fail. Candidates without the Admit Card will not be allowed to write JELET 2019 Exam.

JELET Results

West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Board (WBJEEB) will declare JELET Results on their official website i.e, www.wbjeeb.in on 30th June 2019. JELET 2019 Results will be released in the form of rank card which contains applicant's rank and score.

The rank will be given for the candidates who appeared in the JELET 2019.

Scorecard

The final results will be published in the form of scorecard which contains all the details about the ranks and total score.

How to Download the JELET Result?

The step by step procedure for downloading the result is:

  • Visit the official website of JELET i.e. www.wbjeeb.in
  • Find the relevant link "JELET 2019 Results".
  • Login with the credentials (Registration ID, Username, and Password) provided at the time of registration.
  • The result will appear in the form of scorecard on the screen.
  • The candidates are required to download and take a printout the JELET 2019 Results for future use.

JELET Merit List

The JELET 2019 Merit List will be displayed to all applicants on the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Board official website. To check the merit list, applicants have to log in with user name/ID and passcode. There will be 4 different types of JELET 2019 Merit List published by WEBJEEB. They are;

  • Merit list of diploma holders in Printing Technology
  • Merit list of diploma holders in Pharmacy
  • Merit list of diploma holders in Agriculture Engineering
  • Merit list of diploma holders in Engineering and Technology.

JELET Cutoff

The Cutoff for JELET 2019 depends upon a number of criteria. The number of students appearing for the exam, the difficulty level of the exam, previous year trends and the number of seats available are the different factors that influence the cutoff. Also cutoff will vary from one category to another.

The cutoff will be released online and it will consist of opening and closing ranks of each participating institution for different branches in the institution.

JELET Selection Procedure

The candidates who cleared the written exam cutoff will be called for counselling. In counselling, the documents will be verified and fee payment will be done. After the payment of fees, the candidate will be given to the respective institute.

JELET Counselling

Candidates who have cleared the JELET 2019 will be called for the JELET Counselling which will probably take place in August. A separate notification regarding the counselling will be published on the official website regarding the counselling. The candidates must be present by him/ herself on the day of counselling, no other person is allowed to appear on behalf of the concerned person.

Document Verification: The candidates are requested to carry the documents which are necessary for the counselling, which will be verified and then only will be allowed to attend the counselling process. Candidates have to submit the below-listed documents at the time of counselling:

  • JELET 2019 Rank Card and JELET 2019 Admit Card/ Hall Ticket
  • Statements of Marks and Provisional/ Degree Certificate of the qualifying examination
  • Transfer and Conduct Certificates
  • Class X and XII Marksheets and Certificates
  • Domicile Certificate
  • 6 passport-size photographs
  • Identity Proof (Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Driving License, Passport, PAN Card, etc.)
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)
  • Migration Certificate (if applicable)

How to Prepare for JELET?

The candidate has to solve 100 questions in 120 minutes. Regular practice is required to complete the paper in the given time. For this, the candidate can solve numerous sample and previous year papers.

JELET Guidelines

Do follow the below instructions for JELET Exam day. These would be helpful to you.

ID Proof: Candidates will have to produce an original ID proof with JELET 2019 Admit card for verification (For example, employee ID, driving license, passport, pan card, voter ID, Aadhar card or valid college ID).

Mandatory Documents: Candidates appearing for JELET 2019 examination must carry the JELET 2019 Admit Card and original valid photo-identity proof to the exam centre.

Legitimate Photograph & Signature: Candidates are advised to take a clearly legible, preferably colour printout of the admit card on an A4 size paper. The Admit card is valid only if the candidate's photograph and signature images are legitimate and are according to the instructions.

Candidates shouldn't be late: No candidate will be allowed to enter the JELET 2019 examination hall 30 minutes after the commencement of the exam.

Verification of Details: Candidates will be permitted to appear for the examination only after their JELET 2019 credentials are verified by the centre officials.

JELET FAQs

Q. What is the meaning of the lateral entry?

Ans. Lateral entry refers to the direct entry into the second year of the degree course. The candidates must have completed a diploma in their respective domains.

Q. I made mistakes during the application filing. How can I Correct it?

Ans. After 3 days of application closure, Correction Window will get open, during that time candidate can rectify mistakes.

Q. Can I change the location of the Exam centre in the Correction Window?

Ans. No, Exam location cannot be changed.

Q. Do I get the examination fee back if I didn't appear for the exam for some reason?

Ans. No, examination fees will not be returned in any circumstances.
