Steps to Check CEED Result 2026

CEED is a joint entrance exam, annually conducted by IIT Bombay as a qualifying examination for eligible students to obtain admission to Master of Design (M.Des) and PhD programs for the participating colleges. To check CEED result 2026, the candidates can follow the steps outlined below.

CEED Results 2026 Highlights

CEED result 2026 will be dispalyed on the official website in Mar 2026. CEED scorecard cannot be treated as proof of date of birth, category or disability status, or identity proof. Candidates can use the CEED results 2026 scorecard for admission to the listed colleges under the Board.

• The mean for Part A of CEED is 41.90, while the standard deviation is 16.72.
• Validity: CEED score validity is 1 year from the date of the declaration of CEED results. 
• Declaration: The CEED exam result is declared after analyzing the scores of Part A and Part B. Candidates must note that Part B will be evaluated if the candidate qualifies for Part A.
• Format: The CEED scorecard will be available for download in PDF format.
• Merit List: The merit list will be released a few days after the CEED result declaration and will only be prepared based on Part B. The list of CEED result toppers will also be displayed on the website.

CEED score card validity will last one year from the availability of the CEED result 2026. Candidates who attempt the examination in 2026 must enrol in an affiliated college the same year. Candidates who wish to apply for admission the following year must reappear.

Normalization of CEED 2026 Scores

The process of normalisation for CEED result 2026 ensures that students are equally affected by the difficulty of the tests they take for the Boards. Exam difficulty levels can vary when they are administered at different times. Normalization accounts for this variance in difficulty level across other slots. 

Exams will vary in complexity due to the various slots in which they are administered. Thus, the CEED results 2026 and scores are normalised to address this problem.

Candidates are given one of two sorts of marks under normalisation:

• Raw scores: This is the actual CEED score the applicant receives.
• The adjusted marks given to a candidate that considers the relative difficulty of their slot compared to other vacancies in their discipline are known as "normalised marks."
• A candidate's normalised CEED result 2026 will be lower than their actual marks if it is determined that their slot is relatively simple compared to the other slots in their discipline.
• However, suppose it is determined that the candidate's slot is more challenging than other slots in their discipline. In that case, their normalised marks will be higher than the actual marks.

CEED 2026 Normalisation Formula

Some important points regarding the CEED result 2026 normalisation formula have been listed below:

• The percentile score is one of the elements utilised in the formula's normalising calculation.
• The percentile score of a candidate in a board or CEED exam result will indicate what proportion of candidates in that board or exam scored lower than that candidate.
• The value below a particular percentage of observations falls is a percentile score.
• For instance, the value (or score) below which 30% of the observations will be discovered is the 30th percentile.

A candidate's percentile will be determined by follows: 

100 x Number of candidates in the ‘group’ with aggregate marks less than the candidate/ Total number of candidates in the ‘group’

CEED 2026 Result Evaluation Criteria

A and B are the two sections of CEED. There are objective-type questions in the CEED exam Part A. Questions in Part B put candidates' design, sketching, and writing skills to the test. Candidates are chosen from a shortlist based on their performance in part A of the CEED exam.

Only applicants who have been selected for further consideration based on their performance on Part A of the CEED exam are reviewed in Part B. Part A will be used to choose about 10 X N candidates for each category if "N" is the total number of CEED seats available in that category across all participating institutes. 

This normalisation procedure for CEED result 2026 is only followed if students pass Part A of CEED exam with the minimum required scores or above.

CEED Merit List & Ranks

CEED merit list is also made public by IIT Bombay shortly after the results are declared. Only applicants placed on the merit list receive calls to attend subsequent admissions rounds and CEED counselling 2026. Below are a few critical aspects of the CEED merit list:

• EWS Rank: Candidates in the General category who come from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of society are granted this rank. There is no particular cutoff for such candidates, so they are given Open ranks.
• Candidates who fall under the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Class (OBC) categories are awarded the SC/ST/OBC-NCL rank. However, these candidates' positions are only kept if they can present original certificates issued by the pertinent authority during the document verification. Any candidate is only considered in the Open category if the required document is not produced.
• Physically impaired candidates in the General category are eligible for the Open PwD Rank. However, just like with the SC/ST/OBC-NCL rank, candidates can only keep their Open Persons with Disability (PwD) rank if they can present the necessary paperwork while the paperwork is being verified.
• Physically challenged candidates under the SC, ST, or OBC categories are eligible for the SC/ST/OBC-NCL PwD rank. Candidates will be admitted based on their SC/ST/OBC rank or Open rank, if they need to present the necessary documentation during verification.

What After CEED Results 2026?

Admission to universities that accept CEED scores is not guaranteed by CEED rank. Candidates must submit separate applications to each college that accepts CEED results for M.Des admissions if they are shortlisted for admission based on their performance. 

Candidates must then fulfil the admission requirements outlined by each college, which typically entail showing up for an additional written exam/interview phase.

CEED Cut Off 2026

Candidates for CEED 2026 must achieve a minimum score in both phases. For the candidates' Part B answer sheets to be reviewed, they must receive a minimum score in Part A. Then, candidates should achieve an overall cutoff that includes Parts A and B.

Candidates are qualified if they receive a score equal to or higher than the CEED overall cut off.

Determining CEED Cut Off for Part A 

Unlike most exams, the cut off for the CEED examination is calculated using a specific formula to minimise errors. Candidates are requested to pay attention to the formula and the variables given to conclude on an accurate score for the CEED results. IIT Bombay has given out a formula to determine the CEED cut off for part A, i.e. 

• δ =  µ + (σ / 2), 
• Where δ denotes cut off for A part. 
• µ denotes the average marks and σ denotes the standard deviation. µ and δ are rounded off to the first decimal place. 
• Final Score in CEED 2026: 0.25 X (Part A marks) + 0.75 X (Part B marks)
• Candidates who secure equal or above the minimum marks get a scorecard and are part of the rank list which approves these candidates for counselling.
