Introduction to SEED 2019

  • About SEED: Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design [SEED] is a Design Aptitude Test conducted by Symbiosis International University, for admission into BDes programmes at Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID).

  • About the Symbiosis Institute of Design: Symbiosis Institute of Design established in 2002, is a private college affiliated to the Symbiosis International University. Situated at Viman Nagar in Pune, it offers full-time UG courses in the field of design like Fashion Design, Industrial Design, Communication Design, and Fashion Communication.

  • Conducting Body: Every year SEED is conducted by Symbiosis International University.

  • Level: SEED is a National Level Entrance Test which is conducted once every year.

  • Exam Date: SEED 2019 will be conducted on 4th May 2019 offline i.e. Pen and Paper-based Test (PBT).

SEED 2019 Important Dates

  • Registration: Application Form was available on the official website of Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) on 24th January 2019 and the last date to submit the Application Form will be on 15th April 2019.

  • Admit Card: The Admit Card will be released online for all the aspirants on 20th April 2019.

  • Examination: SEED 2019 will be conducted offline i.e. Pen & Paper-based Test (PBT) on 4th May 2019.

  • Results: Results will be declared on the official website for all category candidates based on qualified marks on 14th May 2019.

  • Counseling: The students who clear the SEED will be called for the Studio Test and a Personal Interaction at the Institute after the results.

SEED 2019 Eligibility Criteria

  • Education: The candidates must have passed 10+2 or 10+3 (Diploma) or equivalent from a recognized university/board with a minimum of 50% marks for general category and 45% for SC/ ST category candidates. 

  • Age Limit: This is no upper age limit to apply for SEED.

  • Nationality: Candidates of both Indian national and foreign nationals can seek admissions through SEED.

SEED 2019 Application Form

  • Registration Date: Application Form was available on the official website of Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) on 24th January 2019 till 15th April 2019.

  • Registration Fee: The candidates must pay the registration fee of INR 2750/- (Rs. 1750/- for SEED and Rs. 1000/- for the institute).

  • Payment Mode: Candidates can pay the Application Fee online Net Banking/ Debit Card/ Credit Card.

SEED 2019 Exam Centre

  • Centre: SEED 2019 will be conducted online across 80 cities all over India. 

  • Choice of Centre: You may choose 3 cities as your preferred Test Centre in Online Application Form.

  • Change of Centre: Requests for change of Test Centre and Subject opted by the candidate in the Application Form will not be considered under any circumstances.

  • Note: Symbiosis Test Secretariat reserves the right to change or allot a city other than the one requested by the candidate in the event of the requested city not being available for any reason.


SEED 2019 Admit Card

  • Availability: SEED 2019 Admit Card will be available on the official website from 20th April 2019 till 4th May 2019.

  • Download: Candidates should download the Hall-Tickets from the University website: https://www.set-test.org. 

  • Details: The admit card contains the details like Your full name, Test center address, date of exam, test timing and instructions.

  • Id Proof: Candidate must carry government ID proof such as Voter Id, PAN Card, Aadhar Card, Driving License, Passport along with the Admit Card.

  • Instructions: The candidates are advised to read the instructions on the admit card carefully and follow them during the conduct of the examination.

  • Important Note: You should not discard the admit card after the SEED must preserve this authenticated Admit Card for further PI-WAT processes in the future.


SEED 2019 Exam Pattern

  • Mode: SEED 2019 will be conducted offline i.e. Pen & Paper-based Test (PBT) on 4th May 2019 at 80 test cities across India.

  • Question Type: The question paper will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).

  • No. of Questions & Topics: SEED 2019 will consist of 150 questions for 150 marks.

  • Duration: The time given to complete the examination will be 2 Hours 30 Minutes i.e. 150 minutes.

  • Marking Scheme: One mark will be awarded for every correct answer and no negative marking.

  • Medium: The question paper will be in English.

SEED 2019 Syllabus

  • You should keep in mind that SEED is a Design Aptitude Test and the followings are indicative topics. The questions might also be drawn from similar and relevant topics.

    • Visualization: Understanding and visualization of simple and complex 2D & 3D geometric shapes, their manipulations and spatial relationships through representations in pictorial and geometric forms.

    • Observational, Perceptual and Reasoning abilities: Ability to read and see objects and information beyond obvious details, make connections, make comparisons, form opinions, draw meanings & conclusions. Analyze your observations, express your point of view and present in a systematic and structured manner.

    • Creative and Problem-Solving abilities: Ability to visualize and relate images around us. Ability to identify a problem and attempt to provide solutions.

    • Application of Basic knowledge of Science and Mathematics: Observing applications of basic principles of science and mathematics learned up to standard 10th in the day-to-day activities & objects and finding interesting relevance.

    • Art, Craft, Culture, Design, and Environment: General awareness of Art, Craft, Culture, Design, and Environment in Indian as well as in Global context - Various topics and sub-topics, people, material, tools, techniques, issues & concerns, influences, period, and contemporary trends.


SEED 2019 Results

  • Results: Results will be declared on the official website for all category candidates based on qualified marks on 14th May 2019.

  • Scorecard: Candidate has to download SEED Score Card from the website only.

  • Ranking: All candidates appeared for the Entrance Test will be awarded SEED 2019 test-wise Ranks as per marks secured in the test appeared.

  • Revaluation: There is no provision for revaluation or personal verification of the OMR answer sheet. 


SEED 2019 Studio Test and Personal Interaction:

  • Admission Process: After the result of SEED 2019 is released, SID does not hold any counseling but a two-step process. One is the Studio Test and the other is Personal Interaction. 

  • Venue: Both the Studio Test and Personal Interaction are held on the same day at the SID campus at Vimannagar, Pune, Maharashtra.

  • Final Selection: Final selection would be based on the cumulative performance of the candidate in SEED, Studio Test and Personal Interaction as well as on the basis of the information provided by the candidate in the application form and his/her first preference of the disciplines offered.

  • Dates: The selected students' merit list will be released on the official website on 6th June 2019 and the last date for admission will be 23rd June 2019. The BDes courses commence on 2nd July 2019.
