The civil engineering department at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) offers an associate position to a PhD degree holder. The selected candidate will get an opportunity to participate in an R&D project titled ‘impounding of river floodwaters along Dakshina Kannada coast: a sustainable strategy for water resource development’. The DST-SERB, under the Government of India, sponsors the research project. The selected candidate will receive a consolidated salary and HRA each month for three years. Eligibility Criteria

Candidates holding a PhD degree in Geotechnical Engineering can apply to the NITK Surathkal department of civil engineering research associateship. The institute will select one candidate for the programme. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

• The candidates should have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or a 6.5 out of 10 CGPA in BE/BTech (Civil Engineering) or ME/MTech.
• They should have completed their engineering as a full-time student in a recognised technical institution.
• The applicants should not be over 35 years of age.
• The institute will prefer candidates with experience in GIC or experimental geotechnics.

Benefits

1. The selected candidate will receive the position of Research Associate (RA).
2. The candidate will also receive INR 34,500 + HRA for the first two years and INR 36,000 + HRA per month in the third year.

Selection Criteria

The applicants are required to attend a written test and appear for an interview. After a rigorous process, the committee will select an individual to be a part of the NITK Surathkal department of civil engineering research associateship for three years. The management will choose the candidate based on his/her qualification, experience and performance in the interview.
