The Kerala BTech admission 2023 is decided via a standardized entrance test, KEAM. The KEAM examination is expected to be administered on 17 May 2023. The entrance test, admission procedure, and counselling sessions for Kerala BTech admission are all regulated by the Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE). 

BTech admission in Kerala is open to students from any state, although 60% of engineering institution seats are reserved for Kerala residents. The admissions through KEAM are open to students outside Kerala under a few conditions. Few engineering institutions consider JEE's main score valid for institutional-level, spot, or management quota admissions.

Kerala BTech Admission Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for Kerala BTech admission involves academic performance along with categorizing candidates into two groups, namely Keralite and Non-Keralite (Category I & Category II), based on their domicile. The minimum eligibility requirements, broken down by student category, are explained below.

Eligibility Criteria Based on Academic Background

  • Kerala B.Tech applicants must have at least 50% in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Biology, or Biotechnology in Class 12.
  • Admission under the government quota and fee concession category is open to those who have earned a 50% or above in 12th grade.  
  • Only private engineering institutions will accept applicants for admission under the government quota with grades between 45% and 49% in Class 12. 

Eligibility Criteria for Keralite:

  • These students must have completed their 12th education in Kerala.
  • Keralite students are liable to state government reservation laws and government quota seats.
  • The regulations for tuition waivers apply to students in the Keralite group.

Eligibility Criteria for Non - Keralite (Category I)

  • The non-Keralite category includes candidates who have completed their 12th grade in Kerala and whose parents are not from Kerala but are employed by the government of India or the armed forces.
  • This group also includes non-Kerala candidates who attended Class VIII to XII in Kerala.
  • The non-Keralite category will be applied to a candidate who lived in Kerala for at least five years.
  • Non-Keralite students are not eligible for communal reservation/special reservation/fee discount or state merit list consideration.

Eligibility Criteria for Non - Keralite (Category II)

  • Those not fitting into the first two categories will be considered category 2 Non-Keralite candidates.
  • After the first two groups have been admitted, these students will be allowed to enrol if there are still vacant seats in the private institutions.
  • Private engineering institutions' 10% management quota is open to these students.

Kerala BTech Admission Process

To get admission, candidates must pass the entrance exam along with the 12th marks. The admission process generally followed for Kerala BTech admission 2023 is provided below. 

  • Students must first fill out the entry form on the official website and pay the category-specific charge.
  • The official authority compiles a ranking list by sorting the entrance test scores of each applicant.
  • The entrance test cutoff relies on the number of applicants, their category, and their KEAM entrance test result.
  • Candidates who pass the entrance exam will be notified for counselling and locking the college preferences.
  • Candidates' preferences, seat availability, and KEAM admission test cutoff determine their college allocation.

Kerala BTech Counseling Process 2023

The Kerala BTech counseling may only be completed online, and applicants may apply for admission. Qualified applicants will be assigned seats via counseling based on the KEAM rank list, the marks, and the availability of seats at a specific college. The Kerala BTech Counseling 2023 process includes the following guidelines. 

  • Multiple rounds of counseling are held once the rank list is released.
  • Those who pass the entrance test may then attend the scheduled counseling sessions.
  • Potential students will be invited about their college selections and fill out their choice forms.
  • Candidates can select their preferred institutions by signing into the portal on the official website.
  • Seat allocation begins when preferences have been locked.
