Karnataka scholarships 2024 are available exclusively to the domiciles studying class I to the postdoctoral level. The government provides monetary assistance to students aspiring to travel overseas for higher education. Deserving candidates will get a maximum of INR 20,00,000 as a scholarship reward. The last date to apply for the post-matric Karnataka scholarship in SSP is June 26, 2024 (tentatively)

Many subsidiary departments under the state government of Karnataka and several private organisations provide scholarship opportunities to eligible students. Pre-Matric Karnataka Scholarship 

The directorate of minorities, the tribal welfare, and the social welfare departments provide the pre-matric Karnataka scholarships for minority, Scheduled Tribe (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students, respectively. In addition, the state government also provides Karnataka scholarships for children of unclean occupation labourers.

Students from class I studying at a recognised school can receive scholarship benefits. However, they must score at least 50% marks in the previous exams to qualify for the pre-matric Karnataka scholarships. 

Eligibility Criteria 

The Pre-matric Karnataka scholarship eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • The candidates should be domiciled in Karnataka.
  • Students from class I to X can apply to the pre-matric Karnataka scholarships.
  • They should belong to the SC/ST or minority category.
  • The candidates should secure a minimum of 50% marks in the previous qualifying exam. However, this criterion does not apply to the class I students.
  • The family income should not exceed INR 1,00,000 per annum.

  • The state government will cover the students' admission, hostel, tuition, and maintenance allowance.

Post-Matric Karnataka Scholarships 

The Karnataka government scholarships for OBC students, SC/ST, minority, central OBC, economically weaker general categories are available on the SSP portal. Like the pre-matric scholarships, the state government also provides post-matric Karnataka scholarships for students from class XI to PhD degrees.

The post-matric Karnataka scholarship is available to students pursuing a general or professional course. The state government reserves 30% of the post-matric scholarships for girls.

  • Students in the OBCSC/ST, minority, central OBC, or economically weaker general category are eligible.
  • The candidates should be in class XI or above.

Merit-Cum-Means Karnataka Scholarship 

The merit-cum-means Karnataka scholarship is awarded to minority students aspiring to pursue a technical or professional degree. The directorate of minorities under the state government of Karnataka provides this scholarship. The selected students will receive up to INR 30,000

Eligibility Criteria 

The merit-cum-means Karnataka scholarship 2024 eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • The candidates should be Karnataka domiciles hailing from the minority community.
  • They should be pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in a technical or professional course.
  • These candidates should have obtained at least 50% marks in their previous exam.
  • Their family income should not exceed INR 2,50,000 per annum.

The Incentive for SSLC and II PUC Students 

The directorate of minorities in Karnataka provides the incentive scheme for SSLC and II PUC students. Candidates who have cleared the class X and class XIIn board exams with at least 85% marks can avail Karnataka scholarship 2024 incentive. However, the students should have appeared for the class X and XII board exams conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board or Department of Pre-University Education.

  • This Karnataka scholarship 2024 is exclusively available for minority students domiciled in the state.
  • The candidates should have secured at least 85% marks.

Devaraj Arasu Pratibha Puraskar Karnataka Scholarship 

The Devaraj Arasu Pratibha Puraskar Karnataka scholarship, initiated by the state government, offers financial aid to students belonging to the SC/ST, OBC or EBC categories. Candidates who are pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree can apply to this scheme. However, they should have scored a minimum of 90% marks in the previous qualifying exam.

The Devaraj Arasu Pratibha Puraskar Karnataka scholarship eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • The students should have previously studied for at least seven years in the state.

  • They should have a minimum of 75% attendance.

For Prakash (SC/ST) Students

  • The family income should not exceed INR 2,50,000 per annum.

For 2A, 3A and 3B (OBC/EBC) Students

  • The family income should not exceed INR 1,00,000 per annum.

Rewards

Vidyasiri Karnataka Scholarship 

The Backward Classes Welfare Department in Karnataka provides the Vidyasiri Karnataka scholarship to the SC/ST, OBC, SC, and PwD students. Those who have cleared the class X board exam can apply for the Vidyasiti Karnataka scholarship 2024. The government will cover the course fee, hostel fee and grant up to INR 1,500 every month.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates applying for the schemes under the Vidyasiri Karnataka scholarship should meet the following requirements:

For PMS FAAS, FC and NUR Concession

  • Students should secure at least 75% marks.
  • The family income of the SC/ST and BC/OBC students should not exceed INR 2,00,000 and INR 1,00,000 per annum, respectively.

For Fresh Hostel Registration

  • The candidates should belong to the SC/ST, OBC, PwD and BC categories.
  • The college should be located more than five kilometres from the residence for the students in the rural areas.
  • The new applicants belonging to the SC/ST category should score at least 40% marks, and the renewal candidates should score at least 60%.
  • The OBC, BC and PwD students should score a minimum of 50% for new applications and 60% for renewal applications.

  • The government will cover the whole course fee for the PMS FAAS, FC and NUR scheme.

Prize Money Karnataka Scholarship 

The social welfare department in the state provides the prize money Karnataka government scholarship to the SC/ST students from II PUC to postgraduate degree. The selected students will receive up to INR 35,000. The candidates should have cleared the previous qualifying exam on the first attempt

National Overseas Karnataka Scholarship for Minorities 

The Government of Karnataka provides the national overseas Karnataka scholarship for minority students aspiring to travel abroad for higher studies. Therefore, the candidates applying for the master's, PhD or postdoctoral programmes overseas can apply to this Karnataka scholarship. The government offers up to INR 20,00,000 for up to two years to help the students with their education.

  • The candidates should be domiciles or permanent residents of Karnataka.
  • They should belong to the minority community.
  • The candidates should clear the exams on the first attempt.
  • They should be pursuing II PUC, polytechnic diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate or professional degrees such as medicine, engineering, agriculture, veterinary, etc.
  • The candidates should hold an undergraduate degree to pursue a master's degree overseas. Similarly, they should have cleared the previous qualifying exams.
  • They should not be over 38 years of age.
  • The candidates should have secured a minimum of 60% marks.
  • Note: The national overseas Karnataka government scholarship is eligible only for selected courses.

  • The Government will grant INR 20,00,000 per annum for two years to cover the scholar's course fee, living cost and one-way flight ticket.

Prabhuddha Overseas Karnataka Scholarship for SC/ST Students 

The State government also provides the Karnataka government scholarship for SC/ST students aspiring to pursue higher education overseas. The candidates who want to pursue a postgraduate or PhD degree abroad can avail themselves Prabhuddha overseas Karnataka scholarship. The government offers up to 100% monetary aid to the selected studies.

The eligibility criteria for the Prabhuddha overseas Karnataka scholarship 2024 are as follows:

Merck India Charitable Trust [MICT] Scholarship 

Merck India provides the Merck India charitable trust scholarship for Bengaluru students in Karnataka. Besides Bengaluru, they also extend the scholarship to Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane. The Merck India company will financially support the students from class XI to their undergraduate degrees

Eligibility Criteria
