HP Scholarships

HP scholarships are an initiative taken by the state government of Himachal Pradesh. It aims to provide financial assistance to the permanent residents of the state. The students who belong to the weaker section of society can apply for the HP scholarships. Particular preferences are given to the minority and BPL cardholders. 

Here, the readers can learn about several HP scholarship schemes. Almost 25 HP scholarships schemes are registered in the Epass HP portal. The selected students will receive several rewards based on their categories and class levels.

The state government of Himachal Pradesh is committed to uplifting the living conditions of the students belonging to the weaker section of society. Therefore, the HP scholarships are provided under several schemes. The list of the top HP scholarships are mentioned below:

Indira Gandhi Utkrisht Chhatravriti Yojana

Indira Gandhi utkrisht chhatravriti yojana is available on the HP scholarship portal. It provides financial assistance to students who have cleared their Class 12 board exams in any stream or an undergraduate degree with at least 60% marks. Additionally, they should have taken admission in academic and professional courses. The students must fulfill all the mentioned eligibility criteria in order to avail the benefits of the HP scholarship. The selected students will be rewarded with an HP scholarship amount of INR 10,000 per annum.

Ambedkar Medhavi Chhatravriti Yojana for OBC Students

Dr. Ambedkar medhavi chhatravriti yojana offers HP scholarships to the domiciles of Himachal Pradesh belonging to the OBC category. Students who have cleared their Class 10 board exams can apply for this HP scholarship. In addition, they should also have enrolled for class 11 or professional/ technical courses in a recognized institution. The state government will select around 1,000 meritorious students who will receive an HP scholarship of INR 10,000 per annum for two years.

Ambedkar Medhavi Chhatravriti Yojana for SC students

The Government provides Dr. Ambedkar medhavi chhatravriti yojana to the domiciles of Himachal Pradesh. This HP scholarship is specifically available to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category students who have cleared their Class 10 board exams and have enrolled in a professional/ technical course in a recognized institution located in or out of the state. Students are selected based on merit for Dr. Ambedkar medhavi chhatravriti yojana scholarship.

The candidates must have registered their names in class 11 or any professional course to be eligible for this HP scholarship. Those selected from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category will receive an HP scholarship reward of up to INR 12,000 per annum for two years.

Thakur Sen Negi Utkrisht Chhatravriti Yojana

The students from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category and domiciles of Himachal Pradesh can apply to this scholarship. The students must be pursuing class 11 or any professional course after clearing their class 10 to be eligible. Additionally, they should also fulfill other HP scholarship eligibility criteria. Top 100 male and 100 female students will receive an HP scholarship amount of up to INR 11,000 per annum for a maximum of two years.

Swami Vivekanand Utkrisht Chhatravriti Yojana

Swami Vivekanand utkrisht chhatravriti yojana invites students from the general category who have cleared their class 10 and are permanent residents of Himachal Pradesh. The students must be pursuing class 11 or any professional course to fulfill the HP scholarship eligibility criteria. The selected 2000 students will be rewarded with the scholarship amount of INR 10,000 per annum.

Mukhiya Mantri Protsahan Yojana

This HP scholarship scheme is an initiative undertaken for students to encourage them to pursue higher education by providing them the required financial assistance. Those who have registered for a degree course at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and for graduate/ diploma courses at any of the Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) located in India. Students studying at the Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Banglore can also apply to this HP scholarship. The selected students will be rewarded with a one-time incentive of INR 75,000.

IRDP Scholarship Scheme

Integrated Rural Development Program (IRDP) offers financial assistance to students who belong to the BPL category. This HP scholarship is applicable for students in class 9 up to senior secondary college. The selected students will be rewarded with an HP scholarship amount of INR 2,400. To be eligible for this scholarship, they must pursue their education from government/ government-aided institutions. The rewards may vary for the day scholars and the hostellers. The boys and the girls of classes 9 and 10 will receive INR 300 and INR 600 per annum, respectively.

Maharishi Balmiki Chhatravriti Yojana 

Maharshi balmiki chhatravriti yojana is a popular HP scholarship available for the domiciles of Himachal Pradesh. It applies to the female students from balmiki families involved in the unclean occupation. The female students must be pursuing their undergraduate (or above) degrees from a government/ private college in the state. The selected students will be rewarded with an HP scholarship of INR 9,000 per annum.

Kalpana Chawala Chhatravriti Yojana

Kalpana Chawala chhatravriti yojana invites meritorious girl students who are permanent residents of Himachal Pradesh. Students who have cleared their class 12 and have enrolled for academic courses in any government/ private college can apply for the HP scholarship. The top 2,000 girl students will be rewarded with an HP scholarship of INR 15,000 per annum.

Pre-Matric HP Scholarship for OBC Students

The Pre-Matric HP scholarship is available to OBC students studying in classes 1 to 10. In order to be eligible, the candidate's annual family income must not exceed INR 2,50,000. Depending on their class levels, those selected will receive a variable HP scholarship amount. They will receive up to INR 500 per month. However, the scholarship grant will vary for day scholars and hostellers.

Application Process for the HP Scholarships

The candidates eligible for the Himachal Pradesh scholarships can apply on the respective scholarship portals. They should ensure that they have completed all the requirements needed. The steps to apply on the Himachal Pradesh scholarship application portals are mentioned below:

How to Apply on the Himachal Pradesh Portal?

The students can apply online for the scholarships in the Epass HP portal. The candidates can apply online for the scholarship by using the steps given below:

Step 1: The candidate should visit the official  Epass HP Scholarship portal.

• The students willing to apply for the HP Scholarship must visit the official portal.

Step 2: Registration into the portal 

• Then, find the student's login on the page's menu bar.
• Provide the phone number and mention the proper captcha. Upon completion, a new User ID and Password will be provided.
• In the case of new applicants, they should click on the New Student's Registration button and register themselves, redirecting them to the particular page.
• Now, provide the Aadhaar number to complete the registration process. 

Step 3: Attaching the relevant documents

• After the registration process, the candidate must provide all the relevant documents.
• The students should make sure that they fulfill all the scholarships eligibility criteria before the process. 
• The submitted documents will be further verified by the selection committee of the HP group. 
• If the documents are not valid, the selection of the candidate will be rejected.

Step 4: Submission of the application

• Before submitting the form, the applicant should re-check all the documents. 
• Because of the allotted User ID and Password, the candidate can fill the form in intervals and take printouts after the successful procedure of the application.
• The printouts, along with the documents, must be submitted within the stipulated time to the respective institution.
• The application status can be further viewed on the official HP Scholarship Portal through the allotted User ID and Password.
• The application would be further transferred to the portal for the verification process.
• In case of any changes, the institution should be given prior notice.  

How to Apply on the National Scholarship Portal?

The students can apply for the HP scholarship through the National Scholarship portal. They should first complete the registration process before the HP scholarship login procedure for the particular scholarship. Then, the students should fill in the required details and upload all the relevant documents. After filling in the details, the applicant should submit the form to end the application process. The renewal of the HP scholarship will be based on the behavior of the student's academic year (i.e., in class 11 or 1st year of graduation program).
