ISI Admission Test 2023 exam pattern was released by ISI, along with the official notification. ISI Admission Test 2023 question paper was divided into 2 sections. Section A consisted of 30 marks, whereas Section B consisted of 70 marks. Candidates had to qualify for both sections. Keep reading to know more about ISI Admission test exam pattern.

Candidates interested in courses like M.Tech in CS or M.Tech in Quality, Operations & Reliability can apply. The exam pattern of the admission test is slightly different for these two courses.

M.Tech in CS

  • The duration of the exam is 4 hours. Candidates will get 2 hours for completing Section A and 2 hours for completing Section B.
  • In Section A, candidates will find multiple choice questions in Mathematics and logical reasoning.
  • The questions will be of the undergraduate level.
  • In Section B, candidates will find short answer descriptive type questions in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering & Technology.
  • Candidates can choose any one topic from the given 5 topics.
  • Questions on Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics will be of the postgraduate level, whereas questions on Computer Science and Engineering & Technology will be of the B.Tech level.
  • Section A will consist of 30 marks, whereas Section B will consist of 70 marks.
  • Each Section will have separate qualifying marks. Candidates need to obtain the qualifying marks in both the Section in order to qualify ISI Admission Test 2023 Exam.
  • Candidates who have qualified GATE and have a valid GATE score card will not have to appear for the admission test. They can apply directly for admission at the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.

M.Tech in Quality, Reliability & Operations

  • The duration of the exam is 4 hours. Candidates will get 2 hours for answering questions from Section A and 2 hours for answering questions from Section B.
  • In Section A, candidates have to answer multiple-choice questions in Mathematics and logical reasoning.
  • The questions will be of the undergraduate level.
  • In Section B, candidates will find two parts. Candidates need to answer total 6 questions. They have to answer minimum 2 questions from each part.
  • Part one is for candidates from the mathematics or statistics stream. 10 short answer questions will be asked from Statistics and Probability.
  • Part two is for candidates from the engineering stream. 3 questions will be asked from Mathematics, 2 questions will be asked from Engineering Mechanics, 2 questions will be asked from Electrical and Electronics Engineering, 2 questions will be asked from Thermodynamics and 2 questions will be asked from Engineering Drawing.
  • The total marks for Section A are 30 marks, whereas the total marks for Section B are 70 marks.
  • Candidates need to obtain the qualifying marks in both Section A and B in order to qualify in ISI Entrance Exam.
  • Candidates who have qualified GATE do not need to appear for this examination.

ISI Admission Test 2023 Marking Scheme

The question paper of ISI Admission Test 2023 was divided into 2 sections. Section A consisted of 30 marks, whereas Section B consists of 70 marks. Candidates had to qualify for both sections.

ISI Admission Test 2023 was for a total of 100 marks. There was negative marking in ISI test. 1 mark was deducted for every wrong answer.
