BARC OCES 2024 Eligibility Criteria

To apply for BARC OCES Recruitment 2024, aspirants must be Indian citizens. Individuals currently employed by the Central or State Governments, their units, PSUs, or aided institutes must present a No

Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective organisations during the Selection Interview.

BARC OCES Educational Qualification

To be eligible for the BARC OCES Recruitment 2024, aspirants must hold a First Class B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Sc. (Engineering) / 5-year Integrated M. Tech. degree.

BARC OCES Age Limits

Candidates' age restriction should be 26 years as of the age recognition date, which is August 1, 2024. The special category candidates will receive the BARC OCES Age Relaxation as shown below:

To apply online for the position of Scientific Officer, i.e. BARC Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates (OCES), a person must meet specific educational and age requirements.

Educational Qualification – One must have pursued any of the following:

  • Bachelor of Engineering 
  • Bachelor of Technology
  • Bachelor’s of Science Engineering
  • Master’s of Technology (Integrated)

BARC 2024 Engineering Disciplines Eligibility Criteria

  • A minimum score in one of the engineering disciplines of 60% is required for the B.Tech, B.E., or B.Sc. Engineering)/5 Years Integrated M.Tech.
  • The BARC training school in Mumbai, Kalpakkam, or NFC Hyderabad will assign the aspirants with a background in "Nuclear Engineering" to RSES or Chemical or Mechanical.
  • The GATE score will determine whether an application is accepted, and candidates have to provide their GATE 2021 or GATE 2024 score for a related engineering discipline.

Candidates who hold any of the following degrees are not allowed to apply for the BARC exam as they are not eligible.

  • Automobile, Aerospace, Petrochemicals, Automotive, Industrial Production, Ceramics, Reliable, Architecture, Geology, Communication, Information Technology, Mining, Master of Computer Applications, Sugar Technology, Electrochemical, Bio-Medical Electronics/Instruments, Energy Systems, Oils & Fats, Paints & Varnishes, Plastics, Paper, Dyes & Dye Intermediaries, Textiles and Mechatronics.

BARC 2024 Fast Reactor Technology-M Eligibility Criteria

B.E., B.Tech, B.Sc. (Engineering), or a five-year integrated M.Tech. in chemical or mechanical engineering with a minimum GPA of 60%. There won't be another screening exam or interview stage for the final selection because FRT-M is another Training plan for candidates for Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

BARC 2024 Fast Reactor Technology-E Eligibility Criteria

A minimum GPA of 60% is required for a B.E., B.Tech, B.Sc (Engineering), or 5-year integrated M.Tech in electronics engineering, electrical engineering, electronics and controls engineering, electronics and communication engineering, electronics and instrumentation engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, or electronics and telecommunication engineering.

BARC 2024 QA & QC Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should hold a B.E., B.Tech, or B.Sc. (Engineering) degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 60% in mechanical or metallurgical engineering.

BARC 2024 Physics Discipline Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 60% in their qualifying degree and an M.Sc in Physics or Applied Physics with Physics or Math at the B.Sc level, or at a subsidiary or supplementary level, in the case of a 5-year Integrated M.Sc or B.E./B.Tech in Engineering Physics.

Candidates for the M.Sc. degree (apart from those applying with a 5-year M.Sc. degree) also need to have a minimum B.Sc. average of 60%.

Candidates for the Physics PG programme who chose to have their evaluations based on GATE scores require a current GATE 2019 or GATE 2020 score in Physics. Candidates having a valid GATE 2019 or GATE 2020 score who hold a B.E./B. Tech degrees in engineering physics are eligible to apply using GATE.

BARC 2024 Chemistry Discipline Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have a minimum of 60% overall in M.Sc and an M.Sc in Chemistry with Physics up to B.Sc or at subsidiary/ancillary level in the case of a 5-year Integrated M.Sc, or a B.E./B.Tech with Math at the 12th-grade level, at B.Sc or subsidiary/ancillary level in the case of a 5-year Integrated M.Sc.

All other applicants, except those with a 5-year M.Sc. degree, must also have a minimum aggregate B.Sc. score of 60%.

Candidates who chose to have their performance evaluated using their GATE score require a current Chemistry GATE 2019 or GATE 2020 score.

BARC 2024 Biosciences Discipline Eligibility Criteria

The applicant should hold an M.Sc. in one of the following fields: agriculture, botany, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, zoology, plant science, biotechnology, plant breeding, plant pathology, food technology,  entomology, animal sciences, biomedical sciences, life sciences, or biosciences, with a minimum of 60% overall in both the M.Sc. and the B.Sc. OR

only in food technology, with a minimum grade point average of 60%.

BARC 2024 RSES Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should hold a B.E./B.Tech. in nuclear engineering, nuclear technology, or nuclear science & technology with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 60%. OR

M.Sc. in Physics or Chemistry with Math at Class 12th or at B.Sc. or at a subsidiary or ancillary level in case of 5-year Integrated M.Sc., with a minimum of 60% marks overall in M.Sc.

BARC 2024 Geology Discipline Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have an M.Sc. in geology, applied geology, or applied geochemistry, or a 5-year Integrated M.Tech. in geological technology, or an equivalent degree in one of these fields with geology at the BS level.

Candidates for the 5-year integrated M.Sc./M.Tech. the programme should have completed at least two of the following courses: mathematics, physics, and chemistry at the B.Sc. level or a subsidiary or integrated level.

All qualified applicants, except those who have a 5-year integrated M.Sc./M.Tech. the degree should have at least 60% overall in their B.Sc. degree.

BARC 2024 Geophysics Discipline Eligibility Criteria

A 5-year integrated M.Tech in Geophysical Technology or an M.Sc. in Geophysics/Applied Geophysics is required of the candidate. Candidates must have mathematics up to a B.Sc. level or at a subsidiary or ancillary level for a 5-year integrated M.Sc./M.Tech. the programme, with a minimum of 60% overall in the M.Sc./M.Tech.

A minimum of 60% overall in B.Sc. is required for all qualified candidates. The GATE 2019 or GATE 2020 score in Geology or Geophysics must be valid for applicants who choose to have their applications reviewed on this basis.

Note: Candidates with a PhD or an M.Sc. by (research) are ineligible to apply for the BARC exam.

BARC 2024 Age Limit 

The BARC 2024 age restrictions for various categories are listed below.

  • Aspirants in the General category should not be older than 26 years old.
  • The maximum age for candidates in the OBC category is 29.
  • The SC/ST candidates' maximum age at the time of application for the BARC exam is 31.
  • Candidates will receive an age exemption of 31 years old if they are dependent on a victim of the 1984 riots.
  • If the candidates were residents of the state of Jammu and Kashmir between January 1, 1980, and December 31, 1989, they might apply up to the age of 31.
  • Candidates who are physically challenged (PwD) across all castes shall have their age relaxed by ten years.

BARC Nationality 2024

To register for the BARC exam 2024, candidates should be present in India.

BARC Admission to DGFS

BARC admission to DGFS criteria are listed below.

  • The applicants require an engineering degree in one of the following fields: MT, ME, CH, EC, EE, CE, IN, or CS. If they meet the DGFS eligibility requirements, they may also apply for OCES.
  • Admission confirmation for M.Chem Engineering and M.Tech Engineering will be announced by the third week of August 2024.
  • It is not necessary to receive a DGFS Fellowship if the candidates receive admission to one of the recognised M.Tech specialities at a DGFS Institute in addition to OECS selection. Only the requirements of the DAE's programmes determine the provision of the DGFS.

BARC Application Fee

BARC application fee details are mentioned below.

  • Male applicants from the General and OBC categories should pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 500.
  • If the male candidates are from Jammu and Kashmir and one or more of their dependents perished in the 1984 riots, they must also pay INR 500.
  • Candidates from the SC/ST category, transgender people, those who depend on Defense Personnel Killed in Action (DODPOKIA), and people with disabilities (PWD) are not required to pay the BARC application fees.
