CBSE Class 12th Syllabus 2021 (Reduced and Updated Syllabus PDF Files)

The syllabus for the academic year 2021 for class 12th as well as 11th has been reduced by 30%. Therefore, chapters like GST, India's foreign relations with neighbouring countries and citizenship, nationalism, federalism, demonetisation, secularism are some of the few chapters that have been removed.

All schools affiliated to CBSE, including Delhi Schools, KVs, and NVS, follow the latest syllabus based on the NCERT curriculum. CBSE class 12th comprises three major streams: Science, Commerce, and Humanities/Arts. These three streams are classified based on the core subjects.

Passing Criteria for CBSE Class 12th Board Exams

As per the CBSE guidelines, a candidate needs to obtain a minimum of 33% marks in theory and 33% marks in practical/internal examination to pass in class 12th final exams. A candidate must also achieve 33% marks in aggregate in all the subjects. Below are the detailed passing criteria for CBSE 12th board exams:

  • A candidate receives the pass certificate if they acquire a grade higher than an 'E' in all internal assessment subjects.

  • A candidate shall obtain at least 33% marks in all the five external examination subjects (main/compartmental).

  • For subjects involving practical work, a candidate must obtain 33% marks in theory and 33% marks in practical separately to qualify.

  • Candidates exempted from one or more internal examinations will be eligible to appear in the external exams. However, the result shall be declared only after the fulfilment of other conditions.
