Marking Scheme of CBSE Class 12 English (elective) 2020 (updated)
The question paper will be of 100 marks in total and will be divided into three sections - Reading, Writing & Grammar, Finally Literature. There would be a total of 11 main questions with sub-parts.
Section A: Reading
There will be two passages in the reading section. Both the passages will carry 10 marks each. And 10 very short answer type questions from the first passage whereas there would be two long answer type questions based on the second passage. The questions based on the second passage will test a candidate's ability to make notes and summarise a passage.
Section B: Writing and Grammar
Section B will carry 40 marks in total. In this section, there would be five questions out of which four would test a student's writing skills and one question will check their knowledge of English grammar.
Section C: Literature
The literature portion of the question paper will carry 40 marks. One question will be from the poems prescribed in the syllabus and will be a reference to context type questions carrying 10 marks.
