Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) is an opportunity proposed by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. It aims to provide monetary assistance to the children of Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) for their undergraduate courses in Indian Universities and Institutions. The selected students will get an opportunity to regain the amount paid for the academic session. Almost 75% of the Institution Economic Cost (IEC) equivalent up to INR 3,00,000 can be regained through the scholarship.
Note: Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) application for 2023 still needs to be updated. However, the expected date for 2023 will be declared soon.

Eligibility Criteria
The students should ensure that they are fulfilling all the requirements. The eligibility criteria for Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) are as follows:
- They must be a child of Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)/ (OCI), Non-Resident Indian (NRI).
- They must be a child of Indian workers in ECR (based outside the country) countries studying outside India.
- They must be a child of Indian workers in ECR (based within the country) countries studying in India.
- They must have cleared their class 12 with at least 60% marks or equivalent.
- They must not acquire any other scholarship funded by State/ Central Government.
Rewards
The selected students for the Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) will be rewarded according to the level of their education. The rewards are as follows:
- In 1st year of graduation, the subsidy of 75% of the total Institution Economic Cost (IEC) which is equivalent up to INR 3,00,000 (whichever is lower) will be given.
- In the 2nd and subsequent year of graduation, the subsidy of 75% of the total Institution Economic Cost (IEC) which is equivalent up to INR 3,00,000 (whichever is lower) will be given to the students scoring 50% marks in aggregate.
- If the student is scoring less than 50% marks but passing in all the subjects then, they will be rewarded with only 90% of the scholarship amount.
- If the student is not passing in all the subjects but has been promoted to the next academic year by the institution then, they will get the half amount of the scholarship.
Note: They must use the scholarship amount only for the expenses occurred by tuition fees, accommodation fees, and other charges except for food.
How to Apply?
The students should visit the official website of the Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC). They can apply for the scholarship by using the steps given below:
Step 1: Go to the official website of the Ministry of External Affairs.
Step 2: Click on the consultant service button present on the menu bar.
Step 3: Then, a dropdown box will appear, in which the students have to select the Diaspora and migration issues option.
Step 4: After this, the student has to select the engagement option, in which they have to search for Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC).
Step 5: Read the information given on the page and download the PDF of the scholarship.
Step 6: Then, click on the apply now button given on the PDF.
Step 7: A new webpage will be opened for the registration process.
Step 8: Fill in all the details and upload all the relevant documents.
Step 9: Click on the terms and condition button and have a view of the information filled.
Step 10: If all the details are correct on the preview screen, click on the submit button to end the procedure.

- If the student is not passing in all the subjects then, only half of the scholarship amount will be given.
- Fee receipt of the academic year is compulsory.
