Ramalingaswami re-entry fellowship for India was launched to attract brilliant young minds working abroad to pursue their different research interests in life sciences, biotechnology and other related areas. This scholarship scheme in India provides financial grants to do research in the selected subjects of science.

Eligibility Criteria
To benefit from the Ramalingaswami re-entry fellowship programme, the candidates need to have the following Ramalingaswami re-entry fellowship eligibility criteria.
- The applicants need to have a PhD or M.D. or an equivalent degree with an exceptional record of publications and recognitions and at least three years of post-doctoral research experience; the last two years should be from an overseas laboratory.
- Only those Indian nationals working overseas can apply for the Ramalingaswami re-entry fellowship.
- Those who have already returned to India within one year of the closing date of this advertisement but without a job are also eligible.
- Researcher's upto 45 years of age, as determined on the closing date of application, are eligible to apply.
Rewards
Ramalingaswami re-entry fellowship is an initiative by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The scholarship scheme provides the following rewards to qualified candidates.
- An integrated monthly remuneration of INR 1,00,000 per month.
- House rent allowance of INR 18,500 per month.
- Research/contingency grant of INR 10,00,000 per year.
- Institutional expenditure is INR 50,000 per year.
- As per the prevailing norms, medical benefits, transport allowance, leave travel allowance, and other benefits are also provided.
How to Apply for Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship?
Ramalingaswami's re-entry fellowship scheme aims to provide avenues for the Indian Nationals to pursue their research projects overseas. The application process for this scholarship is done online. Interested candidates can refer to the following steps to understand the application process.
Step 1: Interested applicants must visit the DBT-RLS online portal of the Ramalingaswami Re-Entry Fellowship Scheme.
Step 2: Applicants must register on the DBT-RLS online portal, fill in all the required information in the online Ramalingaswami re-entry fellowship form, and submit it within the due date.
Step 3: The candidates need to fill out the online application form, which consists of personal details, academic qualifications, post-doctoral experience, work experience, research contribution, referee details, proposed research work and the proposed host institution.
Step 4: After filling out the Ramalingaswami re-entry fellowship application form, the applicants can submit their application and the required documents.
Documents Required
The Ramalingaswami re-entry fellowship scheme is controlled by the Regional Center for Biotechnology under DBT-HRD Project & Management Unit (DBT-HRD PMU). To apply for this research fellowship scheme, the candidates need some important documents to be submitted along with the online application form, the list of which is provided underneath.
- Date of birth proof.
- Copy of passport (if applicable)
- Doctorate certificate
- MD/MS degree certificate (if applicable)
- Copies of 5 best research publications
- Proposed research work (3-5 pages)
- Certificate by the host institute
- Recommendation letter by the head of the institute.
