NIT Meghalaya Department of Mechanical Engineering Junior Research Fellowship Eligibility Criteria 

The candidates holding a master's degree in mechanical engineering can apply to the NIT Meghalaya department of mechanical engineering Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The other eligibility criteria are as follows: 

  • The applicants should be Indian nationals.
  • They should not be more than 28 years of age as of May 6th 2021.
  • They should hold an MTech/ME degree in mechanical engineering and specialised in flood/thermal engineering.
  • The applicants should have obtained at least 60% marks or an equivalent grade in the postgraduate degree.
  • Students with a BTech degree in mechanical engineering are also eligible to apply. However, they should have obtained a minimum of 75% or equivalent marks.
  • The applicants should have secured a valid score in GATE.
  • The institute provides relaxation to SC/ST and PH students as per the norms of the Government of India. 

Desirable Qualifications: 

  • The committee will prefer candidates with work experience relevant to the project.
  • Candidates should have a good knowledge of heat/mass transfer, fluid mechanics, and air-conditioning. 

NIT Meghalaya Department of Mechanical Engineering Junior Research Fellowship Rewards 

The NIT, Meghalaya, will select one candidate to participate in a project called the development of a novel solar-driven Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) for space heating and liquid desiccant dehumidification with direct/indirect contact heat/mass exchangers for the Meghalaya region. The project's duration is three years and is sponsored by the SERB under the Department of Science and Technology (DST). The selected candidate will receive INR 31,000 per month for the first two years and INR 35,000 per month for the third year. The NIT give an option for the JRF to convert his/her position to a regular PhD degree at NIT, Meghalaya.

Terms and Conditions

    • Note: Due to COVID 19, the candidates will have to attend an online interview.

  • The management holds the right to accept or reject applications.
  • The JRF is a temporary position, and the fellow can renew it every year. However, the renewal for the JRF position is subject to the fellow's performance for three years.
