JN Tata Endowment Scholarship

Sir Dorabji Tata Trust offers the JN Tata endowment scholarship to pursue postgraduate, doctoral, postdoctoral or research studies overseas. The scholarship is also known as the JN Tata Endowment for the higher education of Indians. 

Sir Dorabji Tata Trust will determine the scholarship amount for each candidate based on the committee's norms. However, the amount will not cover the total cost of the studies. The JN Tata endowment scholarship rewards range from INR 1,00,000 to INR 10,00,000. Additionally, the selected candidates may receive a gift of up to INR 7,50,000 and travel assistance of up to INR 50,000. 

Note: JN Tata Endowment Scholarship application for 2023 still needs to be updated. However, the expected date for 2023 will be declared soon.

JN Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

The candidates will be selected by the committee irrespective of their caste, creed, and gender. The JN Tata Endowment scholarship can be availed only by Indian citizens. They should be aspiring to pursue higher education in a foreign university. The other eligibility criteria to apply for the scholarship are as follows:

• Candidates should be Indian citizens and should have graduated from a recognized university.
• Should have secured a minimum of 60% marks in the previous qualifying examination
• Candidates beginning their second year of overseas education from Fall 2023 to Spring 2024 can also apply. However, the overseas studies' duration should be at least two years, and the candidates should have repaid their existing JN Tata endowment scholarship loan amount.
• Candidates studying or awaiting their degree's final year can apply for the JN Tata endowment loan scholarship 2023. 
• They can apply for the scholarship even if they do not have an offer/admission letter from the universities for the academic year 2023. However, the candidates must update their applications' status to the endowment once they secure admission.
• Candidates should not be over 45 years of age. They should have an excellent academic record, work experience relating to their fields, and training to apply for the scholarship.
• Candidates travelling overseas for seminars, conferences, or to pursue an undergraduate degree are not eligible to apply.

Note: Candidates who do not have an undergraduate degree from a recognized Indian university are not eligible to apply

The JN Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship Benefits

The JN Tata Endowment for higher education programme has helped over 5,350 students study overseas by granting them a scholarship loan. The selected students will receive the amount ranging from INR 1,00,000 to INR 10,00,000. The candidates may also receive a gift amount of upto INR 7,50,000 and a travel grant of upto INR 50,000.

JN Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship Registration Process

The candidates should first and foremost complete the registration process before applying for the scholarship. The candidates can follow these steps to register.

Step 1 - The candidates should visit the JN Tata Endowment loan scholarship. 

Step 2 - They should click on 'register'.

Step 3 - The applicants should fill the registration form.

Step 4 - After filling the form, they should click on 'register'.

JN Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship Application Process

Upon successful registration, the candidates will obtain a password sent to their registered email ID. While applying for the JN Tata endowment loan scholarship 2023, they should remember to save the draft before exiting the application form. They are also advised not to leave any section blank but instead write 'not applicable' wherever required. 

How to Apply for JN Tata Endowment Scholarship?

The candidates can apply to the scholarship by signing into the website using their registered email ID and password. Upon registration, they will receive the password on the registered email ID. Given below are steps to apply for the scholarship:

Step 1 - The candidates should visit the JN Tata endowment scholarship official website.

Step 2 - They should enter the registered email ID and password.

Step 3 - Now, they should click on 'sign in'.

Step 4 - The candidates should fill the JN Tata endowment scholarship application form and click on 'draft save'.

Step 5 - They should double-check the information and click on 'final submit'.

Note: The candidates cannot modify the JN Tata endowment scholarship form after making the final submission.

Selection Tips

The scholarship programme involves a rigorous selection process. The committee will select the students based on their academic results, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL or IELTS scores, participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, research work, statement of purpose, work experience, and online tests, and their responses to the JN Tata endowment scholarship interview questions. 

Candidates can refer to these points to enhance their chances of getting selected for the JN Tata endowment scholarship:

1. The selection committee will favour candidates with an excellent academic record and active participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
2. The candidates should have a good GRE, GMAT, TOEFL or IELTS score. 
3. The selection committee will prefer candidates who have submitted an impressive statement of purpose. 
4. Candidates who are shortlisted should attend the Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA), an online test.
5. The authorities will further shortlist the candidates and invite them to attend an interview.

JN Tata Endowment Scholarship - Terms and Conditions

After obtaining a visa, the candidates and the surety should fix an appointment and visit the JN Tata endowment scholarship's administrative office to complete the formalities. Some of the other conditions are as follows:

• The candidate and the guarantor will have to enter into a legal agreement with the trustees.
• They should submit legal documents that suggest the guarantor is capable of paying back the loan. 
• The candidates should repay the scholarship loan in five equal instalments every year (20% of scholarship amount from the third year to the seventh year).  
• If the candidate finds a job, he/she should start paying back the amount from the third year.

Note: The office will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.
