IIT Ropar Department of Mechanical Engineering (DME) post-doctoral fellowship invites applications from dedicated candidates to participate in a research project conducted under Dr Himanshu Tyagi's mentorship. The selected fellows will receive a consolidated amount of up to INR 55,000 every month.
The IIT Ropar Department of Mechanical Engineering (DME) post-doctoral fellowship is on a contract basis, and the selected fellow can renew the fellowship programme for up to three years. Eligibility Criteria
The institute will select one candidate for the IIT Ropar Department of Mechanical Engineering (DME) post-doctoral fellowship. The candidates should ensure they meet all the requirements before applying for the IIT Ropar Department of Mechanical Engineering (DME) post-doctoral fellowship.
Academic requirements
The candidates should meet one of the following academic requirements to apply for the IIT Ropar Department of Mechanical Engineering (DME) post-doctoral fellowship.
- The candidates should have obtained a PhD degree in mechanical engineering within the last five years of their completion. (OR)
- Those who have submitted the thesis are also eligible to apply for the fellowship. However, if the institute selects the candidate, he/she should complete the PhD viva (defense) not more than three months from the date of joining. (OR)
- The candidates who have completed a PhD degree under the supervision or co-supervision of IIT Ropar faculty members can apply to the fellowship after three years of completing their PhD degree.
- Note: In exceptional cases, the Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, will extend the duration for another three months.

The candidates should fulfil the following criteria.
- They should know the following subjects to be eligible for the IIT Ropar Department of Mechanical Engineering (DME) post-doctoral fellowship.
- Heat and mass transfer
- Thermodynamics
- Solar thermal systems
- The candidates should also have good quality publications in heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, solar thermal systems or relevant subjects.
Preferable requirements
IIT Ropar Department of Mechanical Engineering (DME) post-doctoral fellowship will favour candidates with the following requirements.
- The candidates must be below 40 years of age.
- The candidates should be proficient in heat and mass transfer subject.
- They should possess a good knowledge of numerical tools such as MATLAB, SCILAB, etc.
- They should have excellent speaking and writing skills.
- The applicants should be able to multi-task effectively.
Rewards
The chosen fellow will participate in a 'water purification using solar energy-driven Humidification-Dehumidification (HDH) technique' project. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar will review the fellow's progress every six months during the programme. The fellow will receive INR 40,000 per month (before viva) and an amount ranging from INR 45,000 to INR 55,000 (after completion of viva). The fellowship amount will vary depending on the candidate's experience and qualification.
