GOKDOM scholarship is an initiative by the government of Karnataka to support and aid the minority communities of India. The minority communities face day-to-day challenges in providing basic amenities and education to their children, and the government helps to provide them with the required educational necessities through the scholarship scheme. The minorities' religions, like Muslims, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, Christians etc., benefit through this GOKDOM minority scholarship scheme.

Eligibility Criteria

The GOKDOM scholarship scheme helps the minority sections of society grow and excel in their educational careers and provides the basic requirements for their higher education. Official and national GOKDOM scholarship eligibility criteria is summarised below.

Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minorities of Karnataka

  • The applicants must be studying in classes from 1st to 10th.
  • The candidate should have scored more than 50 per cent of marks in the previous examination (not applicable for students of class 1).
  • The applicant's annual family income should not be more than INR 1,00,000 from all sources.
  • The students from other states studying in Karnataka cannot apply.
  • The students who are permanent residents of Karnataka but studying in some other state can apply.

2.

Post-Matric Scholarship for Minorities of Karnataka

  • The students of class 11 to PhD level can apply.
  • The marks obtained in the previous qualifying examination should be 50% or above.
  • The annual family income should be more than INR 2,00,000.
  • The students pursuing studies through correspondence or certificate/training level courses cannot apply.
  • The students from other states studying in Karnataka cannot apply.

3.

Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for Minorities, Karnataka

  • The student must be pursuing graduation or post-graduation in a professional/technical stream.
  • The marks obtained in the previous examination should be more than 50%.
  • All sources' total annual family income should not exceed INR 2,50,000.

National Overseas Scholarship for Minority Community Students, Karnataka

  • The applicants' age should not be more than 38 years from the commencement of the course.
  • The marks scored in the last degree should be 60% or its equivalent grade.
  • The GOKDOM scholarship is applicable for selective courses only.

5.

Incentive for SSLC & 2nd PUC Students, Karnataka

  • The candidate must have passed class 10th or 12th with 85% marks or above.

6.

MPhil and PhD Fellowship for Minority Students, Karnataka

  • The maximum age of the applicant should be 35 years.
  • The family's annual income from all sources should be less than INR 6,00,000.
  • Government employees or full-time employees cannot apply.

Rewards

GOKDOM scholarship scheme covers almost all of the scholarship schemes launched by the government for the welfare of lower-income families belonging to minority communities. There are variable rewards categorised by age group, degree level courses, etc. The various rewards are mentioned underneath.

  • The GOKDOM scholarship amount provides the tuition fees and admission fees to the eligible candidates and the maintenance allowance for the pre-matric and post-matric scholarships for minority communities of Karnataka.
  • Up to INR 30,000 remuneration is provided to the eligible applicants under merit-cum-means scholarship for minorities, Karnataka.
  • A maximum scholarship amount up to INR 20,00,000 per annum up to 2 years, including the cost of course, living expenses and one side airfare, is sanctioned to the selected scholar for the National Overseas scholarship for minority community students, Karnataka.
  • One time incentive of INR 10,000 is provided to SSLC students. An amount of INR 20,000 is granted to II PUC students by the government of Karnataka under the GOKDOM scholarship.
  • For MPhil and PhD fellowship students belonging to the minority communities of Karnataka, a contingency grant of INR 10,000 per annum is entitled.

How to Apply for GOKDOM Scholarship?

The scholarships offered by the government of Karnataka under the GOKDOM scholarship programme have very distinctive application processes. How to Apply on the National Scholarship Portal?

To apply on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) for GOKDOM scholarships, the applicants need to follow the below-given steps and proceed by filling up the online form as per the instructions given. 

Step 1: Visit the official website of the NSP (National Scholarship Portal).

Step 2: Candidates should first register themselves in case of new users to get GOKDOM scholarship login details.

Step 3: After GOKDOM scholarship registration, they must log in to the portal.

Step 4: Applicants can search for the specific scholarship on the homepage.

Step 5: Click on the apply now tab on the page.

Step 6: Fill in the required details.

Step 7: Upload authentic GOKDOM scholarship documents.

Step 8: Tick mark on the terms and conditions button and review the information filled.

Step 9: After successfully reviewing, the applicant can submit the application form and end the procedure.

Step 1: Interested candidates need to visit the official page of the GOKDOM scholarship to get information about the scholarship.

Step 2: After that, they must fill in all the details in the GOKDOM scholarship application form.

Step 3: The applicants must submit all the relevant documents asked in the form. Failure of any of these may lead to the rejection of the application.
