Dr. Abdul Kalam International scholarship is for students who are willing to pursue a postgraduate degree program at the University of Sydney, Australia. The scholarship is awarded to outstanding students who can become future leaders. It is a partially funded scholarship which is offered to the students who are willing to study a postgraduate course in the fields of Engineering and Information Technology.

Dr Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship is open to international candidates with high academic excellence in their undergraduate. The detailed eligibility criteria are mentioned below:

  • The candidate should be an international student who has a full/ unconditional offer of admission for a full-time master’s degree in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Sydney.
  • The candidate must have a distinction average (75%) or above in their undergraduate studies.
  • The candidate should not currently hold another primary scholarship from the University of Sydney.
  • If the candidate has already begun their postgraduate studies in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, then they are not eligible for the scholarship.
  • Candidates transferring from other postgraduate programs will not be eligible for the scholarship.
  • Scholarship deferment is not permitted.
  • If English is not the first language of the student then he/ she needs to have successfully completed tertiary studies where the language of instruction and examination were in English or the applicant should have finished an English proficiency test.

Dr Abdul Kalam Scholarship for International Postgraduation Rewards and Benefits

Candidates are granted tuition fee waivers as scholarship rewards. The detailed rewards list is mentioned below:

  • 50% tuition fee is waived for a maximum of 1 year to the selected candidates.
  • The scholarship shall be awarded depending on the availability of the funds.
  • Payment will be made in equal installments or processed as a 50% tuition fee waiver.
  • The scholarship is only for the tuition fees, the recipient must pay for all relocation expenses, airfares, health covers, study materials, etc.
  • The scholarship is available for one year only and can be continued if the recipient acquires 65% and above each semester.
  • The recipient should enroll as a full-time International student and should maintain this status for the complete duration of the scholarship.
  • The scholarship is not transferable to another University or faculty.

Termination of Scholarship

  • The candidate discontinues the degree.
  • He/ She changes their stream in the first year without the approval of the Associate Dean.
  • The awardee opts to do part-time studies without the consent of the Associate Dean.
  • The candidate accepts another primary scholarship during the course of this scholarship.
  • He/ She is suspended from the classes during the scholarship program.

Application Process for Dr Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarship

Interested candidates have to apply online for the scholarship. The detailed application process is mentioned below:

  • The candidate can apply for the scholarship through the University's website- University Official Website
  • No applications are accepted after the deadline.
  • Apply and upload supporting documents.
  • The candidate can take a print out of the application form for future reference.
  • There are 3 pages of the application form and the student is required to fill in all the mandatory details.

Dr Abdul Kalam Scholarship for International Postgraduation Selection Process

The shortlisting of the candidates is based on the following criteria:

  1. The awardees will be selected based on merit and availability of sufficient funds.
  2. It is also offered on a first come first serve basis.
  3. The scholarship will be awarded to the candidate by a selection committee consisting of the Associate Dean or nominated delegates.
