Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship

The Abdul Kalam technology innovation national fellowship, initiated by the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), invites applications from exceptional engineers. The fellowship intends to recognise and motivate deserving candidates who have made a significant contribution to engineering and technology development. INAE selects up to ten candidates every year for the Abdul Kalam technology innovation national fellowship. The selected students will receive INR 25,000 worth of fellowship every month.

Eligibility Criteria of Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship 

The candidates who have been working as engineers in institutions funded by the public can apply to the Abdul Kalam technology innovation national fellowship. However, they should not be holding any other fellowships at the time of receiving the award. The details of the eligibility criteria are as follows: 

• The candidates should be Indian citizens.
• They should hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering and technology.
• They should have an engineering profession.
• The applicants should work in public-funded.
• They should have at least five years of service remaining from the distribution date of the Abdul Kalam technology innovation national fellowship award.

Benefits of Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship 

The Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) offers INR 25,000 per month with the candidate’s regular income. The academy also grants INR 15,00,000 per annum for research purposes. Additionally, the selected fellows will receive INR 1,00,000 per annum as overhead charges. 

How to Apply for Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship? 

The duration of the fellowship is three years. However, INAE can extend it up to two years, depending on the fellow’s performance. Therefore, a candidate can hold the Abdul Kalam technology innovation national fellowship for up to five years. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the academy accepts the nominations sent by email. However, INAE requires the nominators to submit the nominations by post after the lockdown. 

Online Application 

The stepwise process to apply for the fellowship through an email are as follows: 

Step 1: The candidates should visit the official Abdul Kalam technology innovation national fellowship website.

Step 2: They should download the nomination form by clicking on the link click here and fill it with the correct details.

Step 3: Next, the candidates should convert the nomination form and the required documents to a PDF format and email it to inaehq@inae.in.

Step 4: If the document does not have a scanned signature, then the nominator should send an email through the head of the institution, president or fellow of the national science, engineering academicians, awardees of the JC Bose and SS Bhatnagar to authenticate the nomination. 

Offline Application 

The nominators should send the nominations by post after the lockdown. They should enclose the nomination form and documents in an envelope and send it by speed post or courier to the INAE office. The address is as follows:

Terms and Conditions of the Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship 

The decisions made by the INAE are final and binding. The important terms and conditions of Abdul Kalam technology national fellowship are as follows: 

• The Abdul Kalam technology innovation national fellowship will cover nominees from engineering, technology and innovation under this programme.
• The INAE will organise a search-cum-selection expert panel that will select the deserving nominees for the Abdul Kalam technology innovation national fellowship.
• The candidates should note the Abdul Kalam technology innovation national fellowship is taxable as per the Government of India.
