UCEED Counselling: Seat Acceptance and Fee Payment, Process, Fees, Choice Filling

IIT Bombay conducts the UCEED counselling process every year after the results are declared. The counselling process will be held in five rounds starting in April 2026. The one who receive a merit rank can only register yourselves by paying a registration fee of INR 4000. You will be able to check your qualifying status by logging into the UCEED result 2026 site. You will be given the provision to select the college as per your preference in the form.

It should be noted that UCEED 2026 counselling will take place as part of a Joint Admission Process, and there will be five-seat allotment rounds. This allotment will be based on your All India Rank and the college options preferred. The direct link to register for UCEED counselling 2026 will be provided below for your ease, when released.

Following this, you must pay the seat acceptance fee to confirm your seats. In case you fail to pay the acceptance fee, your candidature will be rejected, and the candidate next in line will be allocated. The UCEED acceptance fee 2026 for the open category is INR 60,000, while for SC, ST, and PwD categories is INR 15,000.

UCEED Counselling Eligibility Criteria for B.Des  

To participate in the UCEED counselling process 2026, you need to meet the following conditions.

UCEED Qualification	You must have qualified in UCEED 2026, i.e., OBTAINED a rank in UCEED 2026
Qualifying examination	You must have passed all five of the qualifying examination's five topics in 2022 or 2026 (Class XII or equivalent). Those who took your qualifying test for the first time in 2021 or earlier are NOT eligible. The ones from the Science Stream may apply to ANY of the five participating institutes if they have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects. IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Hyderabad are open to you from any other stream, including Science without Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities. Only students with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Biology as a 10+2 subject are eligible for admission to BDes at IIITDM Jabalpur. For IIITDM Jabalpur's BDes admissions, 10+2 students majoring in the arts or humanities are ineligible to apply. Appearing for the qualifying exam 2026. Such ofyou should make sure that (a) all portions of your final test are finished by the time you apply for admission, and (b) documentation proving you passed the qualifying examination and meet the requirements is presented to the accepting institute by Sep 30, 2026. There is no passing grade; only letter grades are offered. You should get a certificate from the qualifying Examination Board identifying the passing grade and upload it along with the grade sheet if the qualifying Examination Board simply assigns letter grades and does not indicate the passing grade on the grade sheet. In the absence of such a certificate, the UCI Committee's judgement will be final.

UCEED Counseling Procedure

There will be a total of three rounds of joint seat distribution. The following describes the step-by-step counselling procedure.

• Step 1: You must submit the B.Des application form
• Step 2: Acceptance of a seat offer and payment of the seat acceptance fee
• Step 3: Post the available seat allocations
• Step 4: Presenting oneself to the designated institute

Step 1: Registration Process for UCEED Counselling

The UCEED application period for B.Des programmes will be held at IIT Bombay in Mar 2026. The IIT Bombay UCEED 2026 Admission Portal will be used for the application procedure.

You can fill up the UCEED application form for BDes admissions by following the instructions below:

• Step 1: You must visit the uceed.iitb.ac.in/2026/ official exam website and select the B. Des application portal link.
• Step 2: Utilize their registered email address and password to log into the account.
• Step 3: Complete the BDes application.
• Step 4: Rank the participating institutions according to your preferences.
• Step 5: Upload scanned copies of the required paperwork (mentioned below)
• Step 6: Pay the INR 3,000 application fee with your credit card, debit card, or net banking.
• Step 7: Fill out and submit the B.Des admission application.

Note: Only up until the application deadline, you have the option of editing your application forms, including the order of your preferred institutions, and resubmitting them.

Required Documents for UCEED B.Des Applications

The following scanned papers must be uploaded by you when completing the UCEED application form 2026 for B.Des admissions:

• Signed copy of the first page of the completed application form
• UCEED 2026 scorecard
• Qualifying exam (Class 12 or equivalent) mark sheet
• Photo
• Signature
• OBC-NCL/ SC/ ST/ PwD certificate (if applicable)
• OCI/ PIO card (if applicable)

Step 2: UCEED Round II Seat Acceptance and Fee Payment Rules 

The seat acceptance fee is INR 60,000 for open-category, and INR 15,000 for SC, ST, and PwD.

The following choices are available for you who will be assigned a seat in Round II:

• Accept the seat (it will be frozen) and pay the seat acceptance charge. After paying the cost, the candidate's seat will be confirmed, and he or she will not be considered for an upgrade or allotment in later rounds.
• Decline the seat - The candidate can decline the seat and not pay the acceptance fee. In this instance, the individual will not be considered for admission.
• If this option is selected, the candidate's present allotment will be kept, but if a higher-priority seat becomes available, the candidate will be assigned to it. The seat assigned in the previous round is cancelled in this instance.

Step 3: UCEED Post-seat allotment options

Allotment of First Choice Institute: You can ACCEPT (FREEZE), DECLINE, or REJECT an offer from the institute of their FIRST choice.

It should be noted that you will only be considered for seat allocation in later rounds if the seat is allowed. The present allocation will also be cancelled.

Allotment of SECOND/THIRD choice of institute: You will then have the choice of accepting (freezing) the selection or accepting with the request that it be taken into consideration for upward movement (or "floating") in later rounds (if any).

If you accept the seat, you will not be considered for subsequent rounds as the current allocation is confirmed.

• If you opt for the "FLOAT" option, you may be offered a higher preference seat (if available) in a subsequent round. You, then have the option to accept the higher preference seat or decline it. 
• If the higher preference seat is accepted, the seat allocated in the previous round will automatically get cancelled. 
• If you decline the higher preference seat or no higher preference seat is offered (or available),you will continue to hold the current allocation.

Last round of seat allotment

There will be no option to withdraw/ decline an accepted/ allotted seat after the seat allotment results are announced in the last round.

Payment of Fees to Accept, Freeze, Float

• You must pay the full seat acceptance cost to choose between accepting, freezing, or floating (no partial payment will be accepted). The assigned seat will be cancelled if payment is not made. Additionally, the applicant will not be taken into consideration for seat distribution in any later rounds.
• Seat acceptance fee to be adjusted against institute fee: The institute charge will be subtracted from the seat acceptance fee. At the time of joining, the fee will be modified.
• Refund of fees: Fee refund rules are established by the admissions institute if an applicant declines the offered seat after paying the acceptance fee.
• Refund and withdrawal: You who have paid the seat acceptance fee but choose to withdraw after Round I up until the day before Round III results are announced will receive a refund amount equal to the seat acceptance cost less the seat cancellation fee and processing fee of INR 5000. Requests for refunds made after Round III's announcement won't be taken into consideration.

Step 5: Reporting at the Allotted College

You must report to the designated college and finish all admission requirements after accepting the seat and paying for it. When they report, you must bring the originals and copies of all necessary documents.

UCEED Counselling Highlights

The ones who have been shortlisted for the counselling round must keep note of the following important highlights of the counselling process. 

• Counselling period: The counselling will be conducted after you submit your application forms for the B.Des program and after the completion of the exam. 
• Confirmation call: Once you have cleared the UCEED cut-off, and received the rank card, the confirmation call will be generated. 
• Seat allocation: The eligible ones will be called for the first round of counselling, and after the first round of counselling, if any IIT UCEED seats are left, then the counselling continues, or else the counselling process closes. Kindly note that the number of rounds for counselling will depend on the total no. of seats in UCEED. 
• Shortlisting: You will be shortlisted based on the rank list, category and the institution chosen by you. You are advised to check how many seats are there in UCEED for particular institutes before applying.

UCEED Seat Allotment Guidelines

The guidelines for UCEED Seat Allotment 2026 are mentioned below.

• To avoid having your applications cancelled, selected ones must submit your seat acceptance or decline the admission fee before the deadline.
• The ones who have been assigned your first choice of the institute have the option to ACCEPT ('freeze') or DECLINE it.
• Similarly, the ones who have been assigned your institute's second or third choice have the option of picking ACCEPT ('freeze') or ACCEPT WITH THE OPTION TO BE CONSIDERED FOR UPWARD MOVEMENT ('float') for the next rounds.
• The ones who choose "Freeze" will be unable to advance to the next round.
• The ones who select the "Float" option indicate that you will accept admission to an institute that is listed in your higher preference list. Otherwise, you will continue to work at your current institution. Such of you will be considered in the stages of the succeeding admission. There will be no need for you to pay the acceptance fee again.
• Your seat acceptance cost will be adjusted with the institute fee at the time of admission.
• The ones who paid the seat acceptance fee and subsequently decided not to participate in UCEED 2026 counselling can request a refund. A processing cost of INR 3000 will be deducted from the fees, with the remainder being reimbursed to you. The authorities will only entertain and process refund requests until the third round. Following the completion of the third round, no such claim will be entertained.
• After the announcement of the UCEED 2026 seat allocation third round, no withdrawals are permitted.

UCEED Counselling Procedure

Once the results are announced and the UCEED cut off 2026 is released, the exam conducting authority will begin the counselling process for the shortlisted ones. UCEED 2026 counselling process is explained below.

• Counselling fee: You should apply along with the counselling fee. The authority will share the fee details on the official website.
• Documents Required: You must fill out the application carefully with the correct information and documents required and get admission as IIT Bombay will process the application. You will be shortlisted after all the applications are submitted.
• Seat Allotment: The counselling will be held in the form of seat allotment that will be based on the rank list, your category and choice of institutes
• Allocation process fees: The selected ones after UCEED 2026 counselling will be sent provisional allotment seats, which will be E-mailed, and you will have to pay a seat acceptance fee.

UCEED Seat Acceptance Fee

UCEED Category Based Reservation

The details of the category-based reservation are outlined below. 

• OBC category:
  • The other backward classes belonging to non-creamy layers will be reserved with 27% of the seats in the course. But the name of the backward classes should be in the current central OBC's list
• SC category:
  • The ones from this category are treated as qualified and 15% of the total seats in the course will be reserved for SC candidates
• ST category:
  • A total of 7.5% of the seats in the course will be reserved for the candidates from this category and are considered as qualified candidates
• Exceptions:
  • The ones holding OCI/ PIO cards are treated as belonging to the open (OPEN) category, and you will be eligible only for the seats for which everyone is eligible
  • Foreign nationals and OCI/PIO card holders are outside the limit of reservation of seats under the OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PWD categories as specified herein
  • The category chosen by you at the time of application for UCEED 2026 will be final and requests for any change of category will NOT be entertained at a later date
