UCEED Counselling 2024: Phase 1 Seat Acceptance Portal Closes on Apr 18

UCEED Phase 1 seat acceptance portal is scheduled to close on Apr 18, 2024. The general category candidates are required to pay a seat acceptance fee of INR 60,000, while the SC, ST, and OBC categories must pay a seat accpetance fee of INR 15,000.

The seat allotment result for Round I is was released on Apr 10, 2024. However, the registration for the UCEED 2024 counselling was started on Mar 14, 2024. The last date to register for the same was Mar 31, 2024.

UCEED seat matrix details for the top six participating IITs for admission in the B.Des programme were released on Mar 12, 2024; a total of 225 seats are available in the top six IITs. Candidates are supposed to pay INR 4000 as registration fee and fill the personal details and choose the institutes as per their preferences.

UCEED 2024 counselling will be conducted in three rounds, rounds I, II and III, so that candidates can get admission in the B.Des program at the participating colleges. Candidates will be allotted seats based on their rank, category and choice of institutes. During the UCEED seat allotment 2024 process, candidates writing UCEED 2024 will have to exercise either the 'freeze' or 'float' option.

UCEED Counselling: Eligibility Criteria for Applying for B.Des  

To participate in UCEED counseling 2024, the candidate needs to meet the following conditions.

Age Limit	For General/ OBC- Candidates who are born on or after Oct 1, 1997, and; for SC, ST and PwD category- candidates born on or after Oct 1, 1992, are eligible to apply for the UCEED counselling 2024 process.
UCEED 2024 qualification	The candidate must have qualified in UCEED 2024, i.e., OBTAINED a rank in UCEED 2024
Qualifying examination	The applicant must have passed all five of the qualifying examination's five topics in 2022 or 2024 (Class XII or equivalent). Those who took their qualifying test for the first time in 2021 or earlier are NOT eligible. Candidates from the Science Stream may apply to ANY of the five participating institutes if they have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects. IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Hyderabad are open to applicants from any other stream, including Science without Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities. Only students with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Biology as a 10+2 subject are eligible for admission to BDes at IIITDM Jabalpur. For IIITDM Jabalpur's BDes admissions, 10+2 students majoring in the arts or humanities are ineligible to apply. Appearing for the qualifying exam 2024. Such applicants should make sure that (a) all portions of their final test are finished by the time they apply for admission, and (b) documentation proving they passed the qualifying examination and meet the necessary requirements is presented to the accepting institute by Sep 30, 2024. There is no passing grade; only letter grades are offered. The candidate should get a certificate from the qualifying Examination Board identifying the passing grade and upload it along with the grade sheet if the qualifying Examination Board simply assigns letter grades and does not indicate the passing grade on the grade sheet. In the absence of such a certificate, the UCI Committee's judgement will be final.

UCEED 2024 Counseling Procedure

There will be a total of THREE rounds of joint seat distribution. The following describes the step-by-step counselling procedure.

• Step 1: Candidates must submit the B.Des application form
• Step 2: Acceptance of a seat offer and payment of the seat acceptance fee
• Step 3: Post the available seat allocations
• Step 4: Presenting oneself to the designated institute

Step 1: Registration Process for UCEED Counselling 2024

UCEED application period for B.Des programmes will be held at IIT Bombay from Mar 14, 2024. The IIT Bombay UCEED 2024 Admission Portal will be used for the application procedure.

Candidates can fill up the UCEED application form for BDes admissions by following the instructions below:

• Step 1: Candidates must visit the uceed.iitb.ac.in/2024/ official exam website and select the B. Des application portal link.
• Step 2: Utilize their registered email address and password to log into the account.
• Step 3: Complete the BDes application.
• Step 4: Rank the participating institutions according to your preferences.
• Step 5: Upload scanned copies of the required paperwork (mentioned below)
• Step 6: Pay the INR 3,000 application fee with your credit card, debit card, or net banking.
• Step 7: Fill out and submit the B.Des admission application.

Note: Only up until the application deadline candidates had the option of editing their application forms, including the order of their preferred institutions, and resubmitting them.

Required Documents for UCEED B.Des Applications 2024

The following scanned papers must be uploaded by applicants when completing the UCEED application form 2024 for B.Des admissions:

• Qualifying exam (Class 12 or equivalent) mark sheet
• Photo

Step 2: UCEED 2024 Round II Seat Acceptance and Fee Payment Rules 

The seat acceptance fee is INR 60,000 for open-category candidates and INR 15,000 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.

The following choices are available to candidates who will be assigned a seat in Round II:

• Accept the seat (it will be frozen) and pay the seat acceptance charge. After paying the cost, the candidate's seat will be confirmed, and he or she will not be considered for an upgrade or allotment in later rounds.
• Decline the seat - The candidate can decline the seat and not pay the acceptance fee. In this instance, the individual will not be considered for admission.
• If this option is selected, the candidate's present allotment will be kept, but if a higher-priority seat becomes available, the candidate will be assigned to it. The seat assigned in the previous round is cancelled in this instance.

Step 3: UCEED 2024 Post-seat allotment options

Allotment of First Choice institute: An applicant can ACCEPT (FREEZE), DECLINE, or REJECT an offer from the institute of their FIRST choice.

It should be noted that the applicant will only be considered for seat allocation in later rounds if the seat is allowed. The present allocation will also be cancelled.

Allotment of SECOND/THIRD choice of institute: The candidate will then have the choice of accepting (freezing) the selection or accepting with the request that it be taken into consideration for upward movement (or "floating") in later rounds (if any).

If the candidate accepts the seat, they will not be considered for subsequent rounds as the current allocation is confirmed.

• If a candidate opts for the "FLOAT" option, the candidate may be offered a higher preference seat (if available) in a subsequent round. The candidate then has the option to accept the higher preference seat or decline it. 
• If the higher preference seat is accepted, the seat allocated in the previous round will automatically get cancelled. 
• If the candidate declines the higher preference seat or no higher preference seat is offered (or available), the candidate will continue to hold the current allocation.

Last round of seat allotment

There will be no option to withdraw/ decline an accepted/ allotted seat after the seat allotment results announced in the last round.

Payment of Fees to Accept, Freeze, Float

• The candidate must pay the full seat acceptance cost in order to choose between accepting, freezing, or floating (no partial payment will be accepted). The assigned seat will be cancelled if payment is not made. Additionally, the applicant will not be taken into consideration for seat distribution in any later rounds.
• Seat acceptance fee to be adjusted against institute fee: The institute charge will be subtracted from the seat acceptance fee. At the time of joining, the fee will be modified.
• Refund of fees: Fee refund rules are established by the admissions institute if an applicant declines the offered seat after paying the acceptance fee.
• Refund and withdrawal: Candidates who have paid the seat acceptance fee but choose to withdraw after Round I up until the day before Round III results are announced will receive a refund amount equal to the seat acceptance cost less the seat cancellation fee and processing fee of Rs. 5000. Requests for refunds made after Round III's announcement won't be taken into consideration.

Step 5: Reporting at the Allotted College

The candidate must report to the designated college and finish all admission requirements after accepting the seat and paying for it. When they report, the candidate must bring the originals and copies of all necessary documents.

UCEED Counselling Highlights 2024

The aspirants who have been shortlisted for the counselling round must keep note of the following important highlights of the counselling process. 

• Counselling period: The counselling will be conducted after the candidates submit their applications form for the B.Des program and after the completion of exam. 
• Confirmation call: Once the candidate has cleared the cut-off, and received the rank card, the confirmation call will be generated. 
• Seat allocation: The eligible candidate will be called for the first round of counselling, and after the first round of counselling, if any IIT UCEED seats are left, then the counselling continues, or else the counselling process closes. Kindly note that the number of rounds for counselling will depend on the total no. of seats in UCEED. 
• Shortlisting: The candidates will be shortlisted based on the rank list, category and the institution chosen by the candidate. The candidates are advised to check how many seats are there in UCEED for particular institutes before applying.

UCEED Seat Allotment 2024: Guidelines

The guidelines for UCEED Seat Allotment 2024 are mentioned below.

• To avoid having their applications cancelled, selected candidates must submit their seat acceptance or decline the admission fee before the deadline.
• Candidates who have been assigned their first choice of the institute have the option to ACCEPT ('freeze') or DECLINE it.
• Similarly, applicants who have been assigned their institute's second or third choice have the option of picking ACCEPT ('freeze') or ACCEPT WITH THE OPTION TO BE CONSIDERED FOR UPWARD MOVEMENT ('float') for the next rounds.
• Candidates who choose "Freeze" will be unable to advance to the next round.
• Candidates that select the "Float" option indicate that they will accept admission to an institute that is listed in their higher preference list. Otherwise, the candidate will continue to work at their current institution. Such applicants will be considered in the stages of the succeeding admission. There will be no need for these candidates to pay the acceptance fee again.
• The candidates' seat acceptance cost will be adjusted with the institute fee at the time of admission.
• Candidates who paid the seat acceptance fee and subsequently decided not to participate in UCEED 2024 counselling can request a refund. A processing cost of Rs 3000 will be deducted from the fees, with the remainder being reimbursed to the candidate. The authorities will only entertain and process refund requests until the third round. Following the completion of the third round, no such claim will be entertained.
• After the announcement of the UCEED 2024 seat allocation third round, no withdrawals are permitted.

UCEED Counselling Procedure 2024

Once the results are announced and the cut off is released, the exam conducting authority will begin the counselling process for the shortlisted candidates. UCEED 2024 counselling process is explained below.

• Counselling fee: The candidate should apply along with the counselling fee. The authority will share the fee details on the official website.
• Documents Required: The candidate must fill out the application carefully with the correct information and documents required and get admission as IIT Bombay will process the application. The candidates will be shortlisted after all the applications are submitted.
• Seat Allotment: The counselling will be held in the form of seat allotment that will be based on the rank list, category of the candidate and choice of institutes
• Allocation process fees: The selected candidate after UCEED 2024 counselling will be sent provisional allotment seats, which will be E-mailed, and the candidate will have to pay a seat acceptance fee.

UCEED 2024 Seat Acceptance Fee

UCEED 2024 Category Based Reservation

The details of the category-based reservation are outlined below. 

• OBC category:
  • The other backward classes belonging to non-creamy layers will be reserved with 27% of the seats in the course. But the name of the backward classes should be in the current central OBC's list
• SC category:
  • The candidates from this category are treated as qualified and 15% of the total seats in the course will be reserved for SC candidates
• ST category:
  • A total of 7.5% of the seats in the course will be reserved for the candidates from this category and are considered as qualified candidates
• Exceptions:
  • Candidates holding OCI/ PIO cards are treated as belonging to the open (OPEN) category, and they will be eligible only for the seats for which everyone is eligible
  • Foreign nationals and OCI/PIO card holders are outside the limit of reservation of seats under the OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PWD categories as specified herein
  • The category chosen by a candidate at the time of application for UCEED 2024 will be final and requests for any change of category will NOT be entertained at a later date
