Steps to Register for CAT 2024 Exam
Candidates must register on the official IIM CAT website to qualify for CAT 2024. Follow the steps provided below for online registration:
- Step 1: Visit the official CAT website iimcat.ac.in
- Step 2: Click the 'Register' tab under the 'New Candidate Registration' button on the website.
- Step 3: Enter name, date of birth, email ID, mobile phone number and nationality as details.
- Step 4: Click the 'Generate OTP' button. Candidates will receive an OTP on their registered mobile number upon successful registration.
- Step 5: Verify CAT 2024 registration by entering the OTP in the given box on the page. After successful registration students will receive their CAT registration number and password.

CAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria
CAT registration can only be started if the candidate meets certain eligibility criteria set by the conducting authority. For a successful CAT online registration candidates should meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria:
- Candidates must have completed graduation with at least 50% for General category and 45% for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
- Final-year graduation students with the average score of the first two years must be 50% General category and 45% for SC/ST/PWD candidates).

Below are some of the specific certificate requirements for uploading documents for general and different categories:
NC-OBC/SC/ST Certificate:
- Students belonging to NC-OBC, SC or ST category, have to download the caste certificate from the CAT website, enter the required information, self-attest it and upload its scanned PDF.
PwD Certificate:
- Students belonging to the PwD category are required to download the PwD certificate from the CAT website, fill it out, self-attest it and upload the scanned PDF document.
Final Year Certificate:
- Students in the final year of their bachelor's degree are required to upload the Final year certificate obtained from the Principal, HoD, Registrar or Director certifying the applicant has obtained at least 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates) or equivalent. CAT Exam Registration Important Pointers
There are certain things that students should keep in mind while registering for the CAT exam 2024 on the registration portal. The important pointers are mentioned below:
- Chrome and Edge are the preferred web browsers for filling out the CAT 2024 registration online form (version 56 and above) and Google Chrome (version 59 and above).
- CAT application forms should not be filled out on smartphones. You will need a laptop or desktop to complete the application form.
- Cross-check all CAT application information thoroughly before hitting 'submit/save'.
- Forms cannot be edited after they have been submitted. Create a new login ID, complete the form, and pay the fee again.
- Save a copy of the CAT application fee disclosure slip and a copy of the duly filled application form for future use.
- Keep the CAT registration confirmation mail until the MBA admission process concludes. It is suggested to take a printout of the confirmation mail for use.
Important Pointers: Reserved Category
Here are some important points for the reserve category candidates:
- Candidates who wish to apply under the reserved category must follow the specific instructions on the website.
- To check the caste/tribe name applicable, students can go through the National Commission for Backward Classes on the NCBC website.
- Submitting the reserved category form and the exam form is mandatory. Download your EWS, NC-OBC, SC/ST certificate from CAT 2024 website and upload it after completing it.
- PwD applicants must download and complete the PwD certificate from the CAT website, self-attest it, scan it, and save it as a PDF for upload. Not following these steps may lead to application rejection after CAT exam 2024 registration.
- Do not overlook selecting details under the PwD category, like wheelchair support and scribe requirement, in the CAT application form 2024.
