UP NEET Counselling 2023
NEET UG Counselling is conducted for candidates who have appeared for the NEET UG examination across test centres in Uttar Pradesh. Candidates from Uttar Pradesh may opt for seats in Government colleges while others may opt for seats in private colleges in Uttar Pradesh. The Director General of Medical Education and Training of Uttar Pradesh handles the NEET UG Counselling for the state. The following are the details of UP NEET UG counselling 2023.
- Candidates who want to participate in the counselling process should register themselves on the official website for UP NEET: upneet.gov.in
- Counselling is of 3 rounds; namely the first round, the second round, and the mop-up round. Before the counselling process starts, the candidates must verify their documents.
- The UP NEET registration date is kept open for 3-4 days before the start of the counselling round.
- The seats which are left vacant in the first round will be filled in the second round if there are any seats left. In top-ranking colleges, the latter tends to be the case.
- The 'mop round' is where candidates are asked to visit the college to choose their seats personally. Seats for the students are selected based on availability.
- The mop-up round NEET-UG 2023 dates are released once the first two rounds are conducted. The final 'stray round' is conducted by colleges whose seats the candidates would have already chosen.
- The candidates must visit their chosen college and bring the documents required along with a Demand Draft for fee payments, and make the necessary security deposits. Candidates must be aware that the amount is non-refundable if their admission is cancelled.
UP NEET UG Eligibility
You are advised to go through the eligibility criteria before registering for the NEET UG Counselling process. If the criteria are not met, the application will be considered void. The eligibility criteria for the UP NEET UG Counselling 2023 are as follows:
- You must pass the qualifying UP NEET examination with an aggregate of 50% marks (40% marks for the reserved category) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as mandatory subjects.
- You must be at least 17 years old and a maximum of 25 years old as of December 31, 2023. For reserved category candidates, there is an age relaxation of 5 years.
- The seats of the government colleges are reserved for the residents of Uttar Pradesh while the seats for the private colleges are available for any candidate who has satisfied the above conditions mentioned.
UP NEET UG 2023 Counselling Process
The UP NEET UG counselling process starts with the registration for the rounds. Next, candidates are expected to pay the security money and advance to the document verification round. All the detailed steps are as follows:
Registration for UP NEET UG Counselling
Even if the registration process is simple, we strongly advise that you take care while completing it for NEET UG UP counselling. As a reminder, we recommend all candidates check the eligibility criteria mentioned above once more before proceeding with the registration process.
- You must register yourself once you receive your results of NEET UG which would be available on the official website
- Even though there are 4 rounds of counselling, you may register for the counselling only once. You do not have to repeat the same process if you move on to the next round of counselling.
- The registration fee is INR 2,000, which is payable online via Net Banking or Debit / Credit Card.
Security Deposit
After completing the registration process, you must pay a refundable deposit via a Demand Draft. The deposit should be in favour of “Director General, Medical Education & Training, U.P” payable at Lucknow. The deposit differs among the candidates based on the choice of college- Government or private- or the choice of course; medical or dental course.

Documents Verification
You must now verify the documents at your respective centre where you've been allotted a seat. If you don’t arrive at the stipulated time, the seat would be given to another candidate.

Choose a Preference
With the main procedure completed, the last step that remains is the choice of college. The steps are as follows:
- You have to log in to upneet.gov.in
- With the register number and password, you may log in to the UG NEET 2023 page.
- You may choose from the list of colleges given in their order of preference. You must be careful when choosing the college, as the wrong choice might not be a strong base for your desired career.
- The choices should be submitted before the deadline given. If you fail to submit it before the deadline, you will not be selected for the counselling process.
- Once you submit your choices, the authority gathers all the applications of all the candidates and makes a seat allotment and merit list.
- You should check in with the colleges where your seat's been allotted and bring the required documents for admission to the college.
