Banaras Hindu University is an internationally reputed temple of learning, situated in the holy city of Varanasi. The area of the main campus of this premiere Central University is 1300 acres. Another campus of the University at Barkachha, in Mirzapur district covering an area of 2700 acres. I had applied for undergraduate entrance exam in Mathematics group. For B.Sc. (maths group student) cut off were as follows (out of 450 marks ) General - 191 marks OBC - 164 marks  S.C.  107 marks S.T. - 66 marks.

  • The opting choice for Banaras Hindu University as my college is one of the best decisions of my life so far.
  • It is quite a tough to take admissions here as lakhs of students fills the form for bachelors' degree and a mere handful of 100-120 best among them are selected.
  • The eligibility criteria were having 60% or above in intermediate class. The admission procedure here is quite a step-by-step process.
  • As first, you will be called for counselling according to your ranks or as it is said, index number, there you will have to show all the certificates, results of intermediate and high-school, migration and transfer certificates too, then a form of getting the subject combination will be given to you, which you have to fill in priority wise, as you will be allotted that subject combination which you given the highest priority.
  • Next, after few days the result will be declared and then you can lock the subject combination which you have got or upgrade to any else if the upgradation is available.
  • The year I took admission saw the highest index no. of 246 for general category, so normally the typical cutoffs are around 160-165 for general category.

  • Eligibility Criteria are as follows- you must have passed your intermediate with at least 50% in aggregate. For admission, you have to go through an entrance examination which is really hard to crack this is conducted by the university itself.
  • Entrance Forms are available around February on the university's website and after passing the entrance. You will be call for counseling in which you have to verify your documents and a general interview is taken. Seats are allotted as per your performance as there are 7 affiliated colleges comes under BHU.
  • All are in Varanasi but everyone wants to enter the main campus. For main campus you have to secure at least 265 marks out of 450 if you are general cateogry.
