CAT Exam 2023 Dress Code specifies all rules and regulations to be followed by the candidates appearing for the exam. Candidates taking the CAT exam are required to wear simple and comfortable dresses without multiple pockets. Additionally, carrying essential documents such as ID card, admit card, mask, and sanitisers are necessary for the CAT exam.

CAT (Common Admission Test) is a national-level examination. The examination is held all over the country annually. Candidates must follow the eligibility criteria before applying for the CAT examination and follow the correct CAT exam dress code. Let us now discuss the dress code for CAT exam 2023 in detail.

Dress Code for CAT Exam 2023

The exam conducting authority will set some CAT dress codes for candidates to be followed while appearing for the examination. Also, keeping in mind the current pandemic situation, these rules are strictly enforced, and the candidates are expected to abide by them. More details associated with the dress code for CAT exam are given below:

1. Face mask is a must: Candidates must wear a face mask at all times. It will ensure the safety of fellow candidates as well as their own. Anyone found without a face mask will be barred from appearing in the examination. 

2. No Footwear: According to the guidelines of the dress code for CAT exam, candidates will not allowed to wear any footwear, be it a slipper, shoes, chappals, or anything. Candidates can wear it on their way to the examination hall. However, they are supposed to remove it while entering the examination premises. Candidates are required to be barefooted. 

3. Make-up and Strange Body Mark: Girl's dress code for CAT exam specifically emphasises less usage of make-up. It is recommended to appear for the exam in the natural orientation. Additionally, candidates should not apply mehendi or any such thing that can create suspicion. 

4. Dresses with Multiple Pockets are Prohibited: It is strictly forbidden to wear any dress with too many pockets. To avoid kind of extra checking and wastage of time, candidates should wear dresses with no pockets. However, if there is a single pocket or even two, they will be thorough checking. Moreover, candidates must avoid dresses like cargo pants which have multiple pockets.

5. No Ornaments or Fancy Jewellery to be Worn: In the girls dress code for CAT exam, it emphasises on wearing simple clothes. Any fancy jewellery, ornaments, rings or even dresses with embellishments are not allowed. These can create much fuss while checking. In case any candidate is found wearing these, they will have to eliminate them. 

6. Carry Sanitisers: The centres will be sanitised at regular intervals. Still, the candidates must carry their sanitisers. It is for their safety. Moreover, after touching the desk and post-completion of the CAT exam, candidates must use sanitisers. 

7. Mobiles not Allowed: Candidates must keep their mobile phones in their bags in a silent mode outside the CAT examination hall. Any candidate found with a mobile phone will be cancelled from attempting the examination. Moreover, this can lead to disqualification from the examination in future. 

8. Dresses with Cap or Hoodies Prohibited: It is strictly prohibited in the dress code for CAT exam to wear any dress with a cap or hood attached to it. These sorts of dresses can draw unwanted attention and lead to extra checking. Therefore, it is best to avoid these dresses. 

9. Personal Belongings cannot be Carried: Wallets, handbags, and sling bags will not allowed inside the CAT exam premises. Candidates carrying any such thing inside the examination hall will be barred from appearing in the CAT exam.

10. No Electronic Devices: Any electronic device is strictly prohibited inside CAT exam hall. Therefore, candidates cannot wear any smartwatches, health bands, etc. Additionally, they cannot carry a pager, calculator, and electronic goods inside the examination centre.

What to Wear to the CAT 2023 Exam Centre?

Let us check out what candidates must wear as per the rules and regulations set by the authorities regarding the dress code for CAT exam:

  • Candidates must wear comfortable dresses. 
  • Next, the dress must be plain and simple.
  • Additionally, candidates can wear clothes that do not have long sleeves or pockets. 
  • For girls' CAT dress, it is advised not to wear scarves or carry any. 
  • Do not over-accessorise while appearing for the CAT exam. 

What Not to Wear to the CAT 2023 Exam Centre?

While discussing what to wear for the CAT exam, candidates must remember to follow what are inappropriate as per the dress code for CAT exam. The list of unacceptable CAT exam dress codes are as follows:

  • Avoid wearing cargo pants or any dress that has long pockets/ sleeves.
  • Next, do not carry personal belongings such as wallets or money in your pockets.
  • Furthermore, candidates should not wear any smartwatches or health bands. 
  • Also, candidates must dress appropriately to avoid any confusion. 
  • Lastly, candidates must not wear any dress with hoodies or caps attached to them.

CAT 2023 Exam Day Guidelines

All the candidates appearing for the CAT 2023 exam should follow the guidelines and the dress code for CAT exam. It will not only give the idea of what the rules and regulations are but also save time for the candidates. 

  • Candidates must reach the CAT examination hall at least 30 minutes before the checking procedure starts. 
  • It is suggested that candidates visit the examination hall/ centre one day before the examination to avoid any confusion on D-Day. 
  • Candidates must not forget to carry the admit card. Additionally, it is mandatory to carry two copies of the CAT admit card. 
  • Candidates have to produce the admit card for CAT to the individuals concerned/ invigilators. 
  • Except for the candidates themselves, no family members, friends or relatives are permitted to enter the examination hall. 
  • Any candidate found appearing in the wrong CAT dress code for the examination will be disqualified. Moreover, any correction/ alteration in the CAT examination centre will not be entertained at the last moment.
