TS scholarships financially support students from lower-income families aspiring to pursue higher studies. However, the scholarships are exclusively available to the domiciles of Telangana. In addition, several subsidiary departments under the state government and other private organizations offer TS scholarships to deserving candidates from reserved categories and studying at different class levels. The objective of the TS scholarships is to make education accessible to all. The State government offers TS scholarships to students from the SC/ ST, PwD, general, BC/EBC, and minority categories. They provide monetary assistance and enable students to pursue higher education without financial constraints through the TS scholarships. The last date to apply for the Vidyadhan TS scholarship programme is August 31, 2023.

TS Scholarship List 

The students from class VIII to those pursuing a PhD degree can apply to the TS scholarships. The state government also offers scholarships for candidates aspiring to pursue a postgraduate or higher degree overseas. Given below are the TS scholarship lists available to students domiciled in the state:

Pre-Matric TS Scholarship for SC/ST, /EBC/BC, Minority and Disabled Students 

The Telangana government accepts applications from students in classes IX and X. They offer scholarship opportunities to those belonging to the SC/ST, BC and PwD categories. Interested candidates can apply online through the Telangana ePASS portal. 

Eligibility Criteria 

The TS scholarship eligibility criteria for SC/ST, EBC/BC, minority and PwD categories are as follows:

  • The candidates should be domiciled in Telangana.
  • They should be in classes IX and X.Candidates should have at least 75% attendance at the end of each quarter.
  • The students' family income belonging to the SC/ST category should not exceed INR 2,00,000 per annum.
  • The family income of those belonging to the BC/EBC and minority communities from the rural areas should not exceed INR 1,50,000 per annum.
  • The family income of those belonging to the BC/EBC and minority communities from the urban areas should not exceed INR 2,00,000 per annum.
  • The disabled students' family income should not exceed INR 1,00,000 per annum.

Post-Matric TS Scholarship for SC/ST, EBC/BC, Minority and Disabled Students 

Similar to pre-matric, the Telangana government provides post-matric TS scholarships for the SC/ST, BC and PwD categories. Students studying from class XI to PhD degrees can apply to this TS scholarship. The post-matric Telangana scholarship also applies to students pursuing intermediate courses, ITI, polytechnic diploma, etc. 

Eligibility Criteria

The post-matric TS scholarship eligibility criteria for the SC/ST, BC and PwD students are as follows:

  • The candidates should be domiciled in Telangana.They should be in class XI and above.
  • Students should have a minimum of 75% attendance at the end of each quarter.
  • The family income of the SC/ST students should not exceed INR 2,00,000 per annum.
  • The family income of the BC/EBC and minority students from the rural areas should not exceed INR 1,50,000 per annum and INR 2,00,000 per annum for those living in the urban areas.
  • The family income of the differently-abled students should not exceed INR 1,00,000 per annum.

  • The government will reimburse the tuition fee of the selected students. However, the fee amount will depend on the courses.
  • In addition, the students will also receive variable maintenance and mess charges every month through the TS scholarship.

Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Overseas Vidya Nidhi TS Scholarship for BC Students 

The Government offers Mahatma Jyothiba Pgule Vidya Nidhi TS scholarship to candidates belonging to the Backward Classes (BC) and aspiring to pursue postgraduate studies overseas. This TS scholarship aims to help students from the Backward Classes (BC) study in foreign universities and enable better career opportunities in India. The government offers up to INR 20,00,000 to the selected students. 

Eligibility Criteria

The TS scholarship eligibility criteria for the Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Overseas Vidya Nidhi scheme are as follows:

  • The candidates should be less than 35 years of age as of July 1st every year.
  • They should belong to the BC category.
  • The family income should not be more than INR 5,00,000 per annum.
  • The candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in one of the following disciplines:

    • Nursing
    • Engineering
    • Agricultural sciences
    • Management
    • Pure sciences
    • Social sciences
    • Humanities
  • The applicants should have graduated with at least 60% marks.
  • They can apply for the scholarship only once in a lifetime.
  • They should have obtained a valid TOEFL/IELTS and GMAT/GRE score.
  • The applicants should have obtained admission to a reputed international university.
  • They should hold valid passports.

Rewards 

The selected students will receive a total of INR 20,00,000 in two instalments. Additionally, they will receive an education loan of INR 10,00,000 along with other benefits. Tabulated below are the details of the rewards:

  • The Government will award the candidates with living expenses.
  • Upon producing the landing permit/ I-94 (immigration card), the scholars will receive INR 10,00,000 in the first instalment.
  • They will also receive a second instalment of INR 10,00,000 after they produce the first semester results.
  • The government will provide a one-way (low fare) economy class ticket for the shortest route. However, the candidates should produce admission particulars and a valid visa to obtain this benefit.
  • The scholars will receive a refund of their visa fee provided they produce the receipts and the visa.

Telangana National Talent Search Examination 

NTSE or the National Talent Search Exam is a part of the TS scholarship. The director of government examinations in Telangana conducts a state-level talent search examination every year. Students in class X who are studying in recognised schools in Telangana can apply for the NTSE exam. The selected students will receive a TS scholarship amount according to their class levels. 

Eligibility Criteria 

The students should fulfil the following requirements for the NTSE TS scholarship:

  • The candidates should be in class X.
  • They should study in a recognised school in Telangana.
  • The National Means cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS) scholars in class X are eligible for this TS scholarship scheme.

Rewards 

The students who qualify for the NTSE will obtain the following benefit:

  • The selected candidates will receive INR 1,250 every month to pursue classes XI and XII.
  • In addition, they will receive INR 2,000 in their postgraduation.
  • The government will grant the scholarship amount for the PhD students according to the UGC standards.

National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) 

The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) is a part of the TS scholarship. It is available to the students from class IX. They will continue receiving the TS scholarship amount until they clear class XII. However, it is crucial to clear the previous exams in the first attempts with eligible marks to continue receiving the scholarship. To be eligible for this TS scholarship, the students should be studying at government, government-aided or local body schools. 

Eligibility Criteria 

The eligibility criteria for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) are as follows:

  • The candidates from class IX can apply for the scholarship.
  • Those studying at a Sainik school, KVS, NVS or private schools cannot apply for the NMSSS TS scholarship.
  • The family income should not exceed INR 1,50,000 per annum.
  • Additionally, they should obtain 55% in class VII to appear for the selection test.
  • The students should clear the precious qualifying exams on the first attempt.
  • They should secure the eligible marks in the following manner to continue receiving the TS scholarship benefits:
    • Class VIII to class IX - 55%
    • Class IX to class X - 55%
    • Class X to class XI - 60%
    • Class XI to class XII - 55%
  • However, the government will grant a relaxation of 5% marks for the SC/ST students.

  • The scholars will receive INR 1,000 per month, that is INR 12,000 per annum.

Chief Minister's Overseas TS Scholarship for Minorities 

The minorities welfare department under the state government provides the chief minister's overseas TS scholarship for students belonging to the minority community. The objective is to motivate deserving students from minority communities and provide them with an opportunity to pursue higher education overseas. The selected students will receive the TS scholarship amount for their higher education. 

Eligibility Criteria 

Tabulated below are the details of the chief minister's overseas TS scholarship eligibility criteria for minorities:

  • Telangana domiciles belonging to the minority community are eligible for this TS scholarship.
  • Students should hold a bachelor or master's degree in engineering, medicine, nursing, management, social sciences, humanities, agricultural sciences and pure sciences.
  • They should have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • The applicants should be willing to study in one of the following countries:
    • USA
    • UK
    • Australia
    • Canada
    • Singapore
  • The family income should not exceed INR 2,00,000 per annum.
  • The candidates should not be over 30 years of age as of July 1st of the application year.

  • The scholars will receive up to INR 10,00,000 towards fees and living costs.In addition, they are also eligible for an education loan of INR 5,00,000.

Vidyadhan TS Scholarship Programme 

The Vidyadhan TS scholarship programme invites applications from students of classes XI and XII. The Sarojini Damodaran Foundation provides this TS scholarship. The selected students will receive INR 6,000 per annum. Besides Telangana, the foundation also extends the scholarship to other states like Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, etc.

Eligibility Criteria 

The Vidyadhan TS scholarship eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • The candidates should be domiciled in Telangana.
  • They should have cleared the class X board exam with at least 90% marks or an equivalent of 9 CGPA.
  • However, the differently-abled students should obtain a minimum of 75% marks of a 7.5 CGPA in the class X board exam.
  • The applicants should be pursuing class XI or XII at a recognised institution in Telangana.

  • The foundation grants INR 6,000 per annum to the scholars towards their education. 

Application Process for TS Scholarships?

The students can apply for the TS scholarships online through the respective official portals. Candidates applying for the pre and post-matric TS scholarships, Mahatma Jyothiba Phule overseas vidya Nidhi TS scholarships, and the chief minister's overseas TS scholarships can apply through the TS ePASS portal. Those applying for the Telangana National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) and National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) can apply through the directorate of government examinations portal and Vidyadhan TS scholarship programme through the Sarojini Damodaran Foundation portal. How to Apply on the TS ePASS Portal? 

The Telangana government has launched the Telangana ePASS portal for students to apply for the state-funded TS scholarships and provide other services. First, interested candidates can visit the portal and register to obtain the TS scholarship form. Then, they should duly fill in the form and upload the supporting documents to complete the application process. Besides applying for the TS scholarship, the candidates can also renew and track the TS scholarship status 2023 online. In addition, the portal also provides the details of the courses eligible for the TS scholarships.

How to Check TS Scholarship Status on ePASS? 

The candidates can check the status of the TS scholarships on the ePASS portal. First, they should visit the official portal and click on the know your application status button. After clicking on the button, the applicants should provide the required details and click on the get status button to view the status of the ePASS TS scholarship.

How to Apply for the Vidyadhan TS Scholarship Programme? 

Eligible candidates can apply for the Vidyadhan TS scholarship programme through the official website. They should begin the application process by registering for the scholarship. Upon successful registration, the candidates can log into the portal and apply for the TS scholarship. They should fill in an application form and upload the mandatory documents to complete the application process.

How to Apply for the Directorate of Government Examinations? 

Candidates who want to apply for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) or Telangana National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) can apply through the directorate of government examinations portal. They can submit the applications online or offline mode. Given below are the stepwise process to apply for the NMMS and NTSE scholarships: 

Step 1: The candidates should visit the official directorate of the government examination website.

Step 2: They should download and print out the TS scholarship form one month before the exam.

Note: The candidates can also obtain the TS scholarship forms from their schools or Liaison's office. However, the application forms are available only for a limited time.

Step 3: The applicants should fill in the TS scholarship form and attach a passport size photo.

Step 4: After filling in the form, they should get the signature of the head of institution/ school principal and submit it at their respective schools.
