The Maharashtra HSC English syllabus 2023-24 includes detailed coursework on topics covered under the Composition, Comprehension, and Grammar sections. The syllabus comprises two sections - A Coursebook in English (Yuvabharati) and Grammar.

The English language is compulsory for students appearing in the Maharashtra HSC exam irrespective of their streams. The Maharashtra HSC board has also published the Maharashtra HSC books curated based on the Maharashtra HSC 2023-24 English syllabus.

Maharashtra HSC English Syllabus 2023-24

The Maharashtra HSC English exam consists of 100 marks. The first 80 marks are allotted for the theory exam and the rest of the 20 marks are given for the internal assessment. The Maharashtra HSC 2023-24 English syllabus enlists all topics covered under Listening & Speaking Skills, Reading Skills, Writing Skills, Vocabulary, and Grammar.

  • Step 2: Select ‘Subject & Syllabus’ from the menu bar and Click ‘HSC General Subject Codes & Syllabus’. 
  • Step 3: Identify the subject name - ‘English’ from the table and click on the link under ‘Syllabus PDF’ column. 
  • Step 4: The syllabus will open on a new tab in PDF format.

HSC English Syllabus 2023-24 Maharashtra: Chapter-Wise Topics

The Maharashtra HSC 2023-24 English syllabus consists of two parts. The first part includes Prose and poetry. The second part contains the  Literary & non-literary texts, Grammar, and Vocabulary topics. The Grammar section comprises 14 topics. Maharashtra HSC English Syllabus 2023-24: Marking Scheme

Students can get precise knowledge regarding the Maharashtra HSC exam pattern if they review the syllabus thoroughly. The question paper of the Maharashtra HSC exam contains 40% for the reading section with writing and Grammar sections carrying  25 and 15 percent respectively. 

According to the Maharashtra HSC 2023-24 English syllabus, the Prose and Writing section carries the highest marks compared to the other sections. Check the marks assigned for each section as per the current syllabus.
