PGIMER eligibility criteria 2024 are different for all the courses, as mandated by the conducting body. Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research is a higher education institution based in Chandigarh which offers courses in medical sciences like MD, MS, Nursing courses, and other hospital administration courses.

Students seeking admission into these courses have to appear for the entrance exam organized by the PGIMER.

PGIMER 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The conducting body has set up different eligibility criteria for PGIMER for each entrance test. The candidates must check the PGIMER 2024 educational qualification and other eligibility criteria before applying for the exam. The INI CET/PGIMER 2024 eligibility criteria for each course are given in detail below.

PGIMER Eligibility for MD/ MS

The PGIMER eligibility criteria for getting admission in MD/ MS courses are as follows.

• Candidates must have an MBBS from a university or an institution recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
• It is mandatory for candidates to either complete or are in the progress of completion of the compulsory rotatory internship training for the next session.
• Aspirants must be registered with the Central or State Medical Registration Council.

PGIMER Eligibility for MDS/ House Jobs (OHS)

The applicants who intend to get admission to MDS/ OHS courses must meet the following criteria.

• Candidates must be a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Punjab University recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI).
• Students must be registered with the Central or State Dental Council (MCI).

Note: Those who have already finished House Jobs in any hospital or institute will not be eligible for House Jobs.

PGIMER Eligibility for M.Sc. Pharmacology

The students planning to pursue M.Sc. in Pharmacology must be eligible in either one of the following criteria.

• Candidates should have completed an MBBS or an equivalent from any university or institution recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

OR

• Candidates should have completed their degree B.Sc. (in Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry) or B.V.Sc. or B. Pharma from an institution or a university recognized by the Government of India.

PGIMER Eligibility for M.Sc. Respiratory Care

The applicants for M.Sc. Respiratory must be eligible based on the following criteria.

• Aspirants should have completed a B.Sc. (in Medical Laboratory Technology, Nursing) or Bachelor of Physiotherapy from an institution or a university recognized by the Government of India.
• A minimum of 55% aggregate in graduation is mandatory for the candidates to be eligible to apply.

Note: Sponsored candidates are required to have a minimum of three years of experience in their respective fields after obtaining their degree.

PGIMER Eligibility for M.Sc. Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (ASLP)

The essential qualification for PGIMER to get admission to M.Sc. Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology are as follows.

• Interested candidates should have a degree in B.Sc. (Audiology and Speech Therapy) or a Bachelor of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.
• Candidates should have completed their graduation with a minimum of 50% aggregate.

Note: Sponsored candidates are required to have a minimum of three years of experience in their respective fields after obtaining their degree.

PGIMER Eligibility for DM/ M.Ch

The eligibility criteria and age limit for DM/ M.Ch. are as follows.

• Interested candidates should have completed a degree in MD/ MS or an equivalent recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

Age Limit for DM / M.Ch.

The applicants must be eligible based on the PGIMER 2024 age limit to write the exam for DM/ M.Ch. The PGIMER entrance age limit for applying to the D/ M.Ch. the course is as tabulated below.

PGIMER Eligibility for MD Hospital Administration

The applicants for MD Hospital Administration must be eligible based on the following criteria set by the conducting body.

• Candidates should have completed MBBS from an institution recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a hospital or 5 years in general practice is mandatory for candidates to apply.
• Also, interested candidates must hold a Certificate issued by the District Magistrate to support their general practice.
• The general category candidates should have secured a minimum of 55%, and candidates who belong to reserved categories should have secured at least a minimum of 50% in MBBS.
• Aspirants should have registered with the Central or State Medical Registration Council.

PGIMER Eligibility Reservation

The conducting body has declared seat reservations for students who belong to minority categories to pursue MD and MS programs offered through PGIMER 2024. Over 110 seats are reserved for students belonging to different categories such as General/ OBC/ SC/ST/ PwD and students from rural areas, Bhutanese/ foreign nationals, and sponsored candidates.

The students who belong to these categories must acquire 50% in the entrance exam to be considered in the merit list prepared based on the reservation quota. The seat percentage for each category is given below.

Other Backward Castes (OBC): The students who belong to the OBC category has a reservation of 27% of the total seats. The students must meet all the other eligibility criteria set by the conducting body to be on the merit list.

Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe (SC/ ST): Students who belong to this category, who have fulfilled the minimum qualification requirements are considered in the merit list. There is a reservation of 22.5% of seats for students who belong to this category. 

Rural Areas: Applicants working or have worked in rural areas with a population of 5000 are given a reservation of 5% of the total seats. These applicants are considered for the reservation only if they meet all the required eligibility criteria.

Persons with Disability (PwD): There is a 3% reservation for students who have disabilities based on the seats and reservation criteria set by PGIMER.

Sponsored Candidates: The seats are reserved for students sponsored by autonomous bodies of the central government, public sector colleges under MCI or central or state government institutions. Such candidates must be eligible based on certain criteria such as follows.

• The applicants are employees of the sponsoring institutions and must have worked there for three or more years before the corresponding session.
• After completing the course, the applicants must provide service in the training field with the sponsoring institution for five years.
• The entire financial needs of the applicants must be taken care of by the sponsoring institution during the training period in PGIMER Chandigarh.

The salient features of reservations for seats provided by PGIMER Chandigarh are as follows.

• The conducting body prepares combined and category-wise merit lists based on the criteria and rules for PGIMER reservation.
• The students who acquire a higher order of merit in the combined lists are put in the same category as the general category students.
• The students are eligible for reservation only if they meet the minimum qualifications set for admission.
• The order of merit of the students is the main basis for the allotment of seats for MD/ MS programs.
