Choice Filling in NEET Counselling: The first round of the NEET UG 2024 choice filling is expected to take place from Aug 16 to Aug 20, 2024, as per the official notification of the Medical Counselling Committee. NEET counselling 2024 is currently scheduled for four sessions until Oct 30, 2024, and there will be two categories for the NEET counselling procedure: 15% for All India Quota (AIQ) seats and 85% for State Quota (SQ) seats.

During this procedure in NEET 2024 the candidates can select multiple colleges to which they expect admission to medical (MBBS) and dental (BDS) courses. 

The chronology of the admissions process is the registration process happens first, then choice filling is done, seats are assigned according to preference and marks scored, documents are physically verified, the selected college is notified, and the fees are paid.

NEET 2024 Choice Filling Dates

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) released the NEET 2024 counselling dates on Jul 29, 2024. According to that, students can register for the NEET 2024 counselling procedure on Aug 14, 2024.

NEET Counselling 2024 will start after the NTA announces the NEET Results 2024. To begin, you need to register for NEET counselling online. This registration is done on the official MCC website and requires you to pay a fee using net banking, a credit or debit card, or UPI.

Once you've registered, you need to fill out the NEET UG 2024 choice form. Log in to your account on the MCC portal and pick your preferred courses or colleges in the order you want. You can choose as many options as you like, and you can also add, remove, or change the order of your choices anytime. After making your selections, be sure to keep a copy for your records.

NEET UG 2024 Choice Filling Step Wise Process 

The complete steps from registration to choice filling in NEET counselling in detail are listed down below for candidates: 

Step 1: Registering Details Online: Provide the roll number, name, date of birth, mobile number, and email address to begin the NEET 2024 registration procedure.

• Upon successful registration, a login ID and password will be generated and delivered to the registered email address and mobile number.
• Log in with the login ID and password created at registration to continue the process.

Step 2: Filling in the choices: Choose the preferred course and also make the college selection based on your choices.

• Step 2A: After registering for the NEET all-India counselling process, review the list of colleges accepting NEET 2024 results provided on the portal.
• Step 2B: Select the colleges according to your preference.
• Step 2C: Fill out the provided form with the names of the colleges in the order of choice.
• Step 2D: Select "Submit" from the menu.

Stage 3: Seat Allotment Rounds: The seat allocation process has three rounds. However, the conducting authority will hold additional rounds to fill any open seats.

• Seats will be assigned based on the NEET rank and the preferences entered during the online counselling registration process.

Step 1: Visit the NEET 2024 official website and access the candidate portal.

Step 2: Find 'Modify Selected Options' and click on it.

Step 3: The screen will show the selections already entered.

Step 4: After making the necessary adjustments, click "Submit" to save the changes.

Important Instructions for Choice Filling in NEET Counselling 2024

The three most crucial factors to consider before deciding to fill in NEET counselling are tuition costs, clinical experience, and the calibre of education.  

There are a few strategies that students can use to filter out a lot of medical colleges and compare colleges to examine and compare the quality of all medical institutions during counselling. 

A few crucial MCC college choice filling guidelines for all the candidates are added below, and students are advised to follow them before going on to choice filling in NEET counselling:

1. Quota and Common Preference List for All College Types

• Many students submit multiple college or quota applications, such as deemed universities and government colleges. In such a situation, be sure to arrange the options correctly. 
• Suppose students prefer to attend a top-tier institution rather than one of the newly established or lower-ranked government medical schools. In that case, they should prioritise deemed university colleges over low-ranking government colleges.

2. Verify Correct Information on the Medical College Website

• Always check the official website for information on tuition fees, stipends, service bonds, and penalties specified on the MCC website.
• The MCC prospectus notes that specific government medical colleges have exorbitant tuition costs. Candidates can visit the college website to view fees and other pertinent details.

3. After Choice locking, no Choice Modifications are Permitted.

• Avoid locking in the options too soon. Wait until the day of the choosing and lock it right before the allotted time runs out. The options will be closed automatically even if the students don't lock. 
• Students won't be able to add or rearrange the college selections once they lock them. However, they will be able to download their chosen list once the locking period has ended. Download and save it for when you need it for a subsequent choice-filling round.

4. Students Can Choose Any Number of Colleges

• Students can choose multiple colleges, so they should add all additional colleges, excluding those they do not intend to attend. 

5. Complete New Choice Forms for Every Counseling Round

• Students have to make choices from scratch for each round, and they will receive a seat matrix with available seats prior to counselling. 
• In the next round, students can refill the selections based on the seat matrix and the choice list from the previous round. 
• Thus, be careful to download the choice list following the first round's choice locking.

Factors to Check for NEET UG 2024 Choice Filling

When selecting and locking down colleges, candidates must consider the following factors:

Rank of the Colleges: Applicants must check the medical colleges' rankings before selecting them. Choosing a low-tier college would be a poor decision because these institutions need more faculty and intellectual resources.

Courses: MBBS, BDS,  BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS, BNYS, BVSc & AH, and BPT are the courses for which MCC offers NEET UG counselling. 

In addition to the institutes, candidates must carefully choose the course and when selecting a college or course, they should be cautious as well. 

NEET UG Cutoff: Candidates should review the previous year's NEET UG cutoff for those institutions to determine their chances of being assigned a seat at those establishments when choosing colleges in the NEET choice filling and locking rounds.
