  • About: BLAT stands for Banaras Hindu University Law Admission Test which is conducted for admission into Law courses. Students who obtain the cut-off marks in the national level entrance test in BLAT 2019 will be offered admission to Five years integrated law course in colleges affiliated to Banaras Hindu University.

  • Course Offered: BLAT 2019 is a University level undergraduate law entrance exam conducted by Banaras Hindu University to provide admissions to students in the integrated five-year BA LLB (Honours) and LLB (Hons) program offered by the Faculty of Law.

BLAT 2019 Eligibility

  • Education Qualification: The minimum eligibility requirement for LLB (Hons) is BA/ B.Sc/ B.Com/ Shastri (at least 10+2+3 pattern) with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Any other degree under the pattern 10+2+3 recognized by the Bar Council of India securing minimum 50% in aggregate considering.

  • Age Limit: The age restriction for BHU Law has been removed by the Supreme court and hence candidates of all ages are eligible to apply for the test.

  • Citizenship/ Residential Criteria: 
    • The criteria for eligibility on the basis of citizenship in India and for Residential criteria, Migration certificate should be produced from the previous university.

    • Foreign Nationals can be eligible if they meet the eligibility of 10+2+3 from equivalent university, hold a valid foreign passport and have adequate knowledge of English and Hindi as required for the test.

  • Number of attempts: There is no restriction on the attempts made by candidates.

  • Syllabus: The syllabus for BLAT Entrance includes objective question based on diverse topics.

  • Subjects: The subjects that the syllabus comprises are English Comprehension, General Awareness and Current Affairs, Aptitude and Mental Ability and Common Legal Knowledge.

BLAT 2019 Exam Pattern

  • Mode: BLAT will be conducted through Offline process i.e. (Pen & Paper-based Test) 

  • Questions: The question paper will contain 150 Multiple Choice Question's (MCQ's)

  • Sections: The paper contains 4 sections namely General Awareness and Current Affairs, Common Legal Knowledge, Aptitude and Mental Ability and English/ Hindi Comprehension.

  • Marks: Marks given for the answers are +3 for correct answers and -1 mark will be deducted for incorrect answer.

  • Medium: The question will be conducted in Hindi and English medium.

BLAT 2019 Application Form

  • Registration: Application Form will be available on the official website of BHU from 19th January 2019 and the last date to submit the Application Form is on 28th February 2019

  • Registration Fee: Registration Fees will be INR 500 for general category and INR 250 for SC/ST category candidates. The Fee can be paid through the following ways below:

    • Online (Net Banking, Credit/ Debit Card)

    • Offline (Challan payment at any branch of HDFC)

  • Document Upload: Candidates have to upload the scanned copy of recent coloured passport size photograph and signature.

BLAT 2019 Exam Centre

  • No. of Centres: BLAT 2019 is currently conducted in 18 cities and in various Exam Centres.

  • Change in Centre: The Exam Centre once allotted cannot be changed upon request or under any circumstance.

  • Note: Candidates should reach the respective Exam Centre at least an hour before the commencement of examination and must carry the Admit Card along with an identity proof is required at the Exam Centre.

BLAT 2019 Admit Card

  • Date: Admit Card will be available on the official website of BHU from 10th April 2019.

  • Photograph: Once the Admit Card is downloaded, candidates are required to affix a passport size colour photograph on the Admit Card.

  • Download & Print: Candidates can download the Admit Card and take multiple printouts of it which should be preserved until the admission process.

  • Discrepancy: Candidates must thoroughly go through the Admit Card in case there are any printing mistakes should immediately contact the program coordinator.

BLAT 2019 Results

  • Result Date: BLAT 2019 Result will be published by the Banaras Hindu University on the official website on 12th June 2019.

  • Merit List: Banaras Hindu University is responsible for releasing the merit list for this examination on the basis of candidate’s performance which includes the rank and marks secured.

  • Tiebreaker: In such a competitive examination, there is always a possibility that two students might score equal marks and rank for which need to follow some tiebreaker rules.

  • Cut-off: Cut-off marks are the minimum marks which a candidate needs to score in order to get through the examination and to be considered for further counselling.

BLAT 2019 Counselling

  • Venue & Date: BLAT 2019 Counselling will be held at Banaras Hindu University on 5th July 2019.

  • Register: Eligible candidates are required to register for the counselling procedure form and fill it including the desired colleges they wish to apply in.

  • Call Letter: 

    • Respective call letter needs to get downloaded by the candidate from the official site of BHU to proceed further with the admission procedure.

BLAT 2019 Instructions

  • BHU Law Entrance 2019 Admit Card is mandatory and candidates will not be permitted without a valid admit card

  • The seating arrangement allotted to candidates will be as per the registration number and the order will not be changed.

  • Candidates are instructed to reach the examination hall when in advance to avoid last minute rush and traffic

  • Candidates will be expected to sign a list of forms for verification purpose so plan accordingly

  • Candidates will not be permitted into the exam hall 30 minutes after the exam commences

  • Candidates will not be permitted to leave the exam hall until the completion of the exam time

  • Candidates are prohibited from carrying any kind of electronic devices inclusive of Mobile phones, calculators, camera, watch calculators, digital watch, earphones, slide rulers etc. into the exam hall. The same can be handed over to the invigilator before the exam and collected while leaving back

  • Candidates will be provided with a rough working sheet for calculation purposes. The sheet has to be returned to the faculty at the time of leaving the hall

  • Candidates are advised to carry an additional set of stationery for safety purposes.

  • It would be advisable to carry light baggage as it will not be permitted inside the exam hall

  • Malpractice of any kind will be punishable by the court of Law

  • Any rough paper or unauthorised electronics will be considered as Malpractice

  • The photograph attached in the BHU Law entrance admit card should be recent. The candidate can be disqualified if the invigilator finds a difference in the person and the photo given.

  • Candidates must meet the minimum qualification deemed by the university and can be disqualified if found unfit

  • All litigations are subject to the Local court of Varanasi and Hon'ble High Court of Allahabad only

Q: What is BLAT?            

Banaras Hindu University Law Admission Test (BLAT) is conducted for admission into Law courses. Students who clear the cut-off marks in the national level entrance test in BLAT 2019 will be offered admission to five years integrated law course in colleges affiliated to Banaras Hindu University.

Q: Is there any age restriction to apply for the exam?

No. There is no age bar to appear for the exam

Q: What is the minimum educational qualification required to apply for the exam?

Candidates must satisfy the following conditions:

Eligibility for BA LLB (Hons)

  • The applicants should have completed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks.

  • Reserved category candidates must have completed 10+2 with a minimum of 45% marks.

Eligibility for LLB (Hons)
Applicants must have passed BA/ B.Sc/ B.Com (at least 10+2+3 pattern) from a recognized college/ university which is recognized by the Bar Council of India.

Q: What is the application fee?
The application fee for General and OBC candidates is RS 500/- and for SC/ST/PC candidates it is Rs 250/-

Q: Is the exam Bilingual?
Yes, the question paper will be in both English and Hindi. Candidates can answer the paper in any one of the two languages.

Q: What is the exam pattern for BLAT?
The exam is conducted in offline mode. Duration of the exam is 2 Hours i.e. 120 Minutes. Paper has 4 sections namely General Awareness and Current Affairs, Common Legal Knowledge, Aptitude and Mental Ability and English/Hindi Comprehension.

Q: What is the marking scheme?

Candidates get three marks for every correct answer and one mark is deducted for every wrong answer.

Q: How many seats are available?

The University has 230 LLB (Hons) and 60 BA LLB (Hons) seats.

Q: Should I send the hard copy of the application form through the post to the university?

No, candidates need not send the hard copy of the application form.

Candidates should submit a correction request at Aadhaar centre and apply for BLAT 2018 by entering 14 digits Aadhaar Update Request No (followed by a slash) printed on the slip issued by Aadhaar centre after submitting updation request.
