KCET seat allotment 2023 is published by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) after the counselling process begins. The authority had extended the dates for KCET counselling round 2 payment and reporting to allotted institutes.

Candidates were mandated to pay the fee in the window of Sep 9 to Sep 13, 2023. Candidates had to report to the colleges on Sep 14, 2023.

Candidates who have qualified for the KCET exam can attend the KCET Counselling process. The counselling process of the KCET includes document verification, choice filling and finally the KCET seat allotment.

Candidates must complete the first two steps in the counselling process before the seat allotment is done.

How to Check the KCET Seat Allotment Result?

Candidates aspiring to participate in the KCET seat allotment 2023 must be aware of the dates. The following is the step-by-step process to check the KCET seat allotment result.

• Go to the official website of the Karnataka Examination Authority.
• Click on the KCET seat allotment 2023 link.
• Enter the CET number, and other credentials if required.
• Then, submit the details.
• The KCET seat allotment result shall be presented to the user on his/her computer screen.

KCET Registration and Choice Filling

After the documents have been verified, applicants will be asked to register themselves at the counselling centre itself. During the registration process, applicants have to use the verification slip given by the authorities and fill out the registration form carefully.

• The KCET choice filling will take place online. Candidates will be required to log into their KCET account by using the unique ID and password provided to them by the authorities after the document verification.
• Further, they must enter their CET number to fill in the college/course choices.
• Once candidates log in, they can pick any number of choices according to their preferences.
• Moreover, they will also have the option to modify the preferences of the colleges or courses, but the modification must be done before locking the choices.

KCET 2023 Seat Allotment Procedure

Candidates who will complete the document verification and the choice filling will be considered for the KCET seat allotment. The exam authorities do the seat allotment based on many factors. These factors include the choices given by the candidate for courses and colleges, the score or rank of that candidate, available seats, and reservations.

The KCET seat allotment procedure is composed of several rounds. In addition to the actual seat allotments, there will also be a mock allotment round which will be followed by the first round, second round, extended second round and special round. The details of each round of the KCET seat allotment are as follows.

KCET Mock Allotment Round

The KEA publishes the KCET mock allotment 2023 results for candidates who have done the choice filling. This round is mainly conducted so that the aspirants get an idea of how the seats are allocated.

• The seats allocated during the mock allotment round are tentative and are subject to change.
• Furthermore, when the seat allocation process begins, candidates may not necessarily get the course/college which is assigned to them in this round.
• This seat allocation is carried out on the grounds of the preferences given by candidates during the choice filling.
• After the KCET mock allotment 2023 round, candidates will be able to add, remove or change their preferences for the upcoming seat allotment rounds.

KCET 2023 Seat Allotment First Round

The KCET first round seat allotment 2023 will be conducted right after the window for the choice filling closes. This will be the first actual seat allotment round. 

• The exam authorities will assign seats to candidates based on their scores in the exam, the reservation policy of the state, and the choices entered by the candidate.
• Generally, the conducting body offers preference to the special category candidates for the seat allotment. In the first round of the KCET seat allotment, candidates belonging to NCC, sports category, and PWD category will be allotted seats.
• Only after the allotment for the special category candidates is over, the authorities will consider other candidates.

KCET 2023 Seat Allotment Second Round

The KCET second round seat allotment results will be published on the official website. Further, KCET second round seat allotment will be held for the unfilled/ surrendered/canceled/ fortified seats or newly added candidates.

• If there are any vacant seats left under the rural and the Kannada medium reservation, then such seats will be utilized for the General category candidates.
• The authorities will adhere to the same selection criteria as the first round for seat allocation.
• Candidates who decide to pick 2nd or 3rd choice in the first round of KCET seat allocation can also get admission in the KCET second round seat allotment 2023.

KCET 2023 Seat Allotment Second Extended Round

This round will be organized to fill the vacant seats. Similar standards are followed for the selection of candidates in the extended second round of the KCET Seat Allotment.

• Usually, all the seats coming under different quotas are filled at the very beginning. If there are any vacant seats left under the reserved category, then those seats will be converted into General category seats.
• Additionally, applicants wishing to get better seats can also opt for this round of selection.

What is KCET Seat Matrix?

KEA will soon publish the KCET seat matrix on the official website in PDF format. The KCET seat matrix comprises the number of seats available in participating institutes/colleges for every course.

The seat matrix also shows the distribution of reserved seats for different categories along with the total intake. Based on the seat matrix, the candidates could fill in their choices for the seat allotment. The KCET seat allotment will be conducted in two rounds. Furthermore, KEA may extend the second round of the KCET seat allotment, and there may also be a special round.
