Nagaland scholarships are available to permanent residents of the state. The Central and state governments of India provide several scholarship schemes for students in different class levels. A maximum reward of INR 30,000 can be earned from the scholarship scheme. The objective of the Nagaland state scholarship 2023 programme is to provide educational opportunities to the bonafide residents irrespective of their economic background. The deadline for applying for the State Medical scholarship under the Nagaland scholarship category was February 28, 2023.

Nagaland Scholarships List

The Government provides several Nagaland scholarship schemes to the domiciles of the state. There are schemes available to students from class X to those pursuing a PhD degree. The University Grants Commission (UGC) also offers scholarships to the North Eastern Region (NER) residents, including Nagaland. Post-Matric Nagaland Scholarships 

The Post-matric Nagaland scholarships are available to the students domiciled in the state and belonging to the ST category. Those studying above class X with a family income of not more than INR 2,50,000 per annum from all sources can apply to the programme. However, they should study in an institution with a valid AISHE/ UDISE code. They should have also cleared the previous qualifying exams and should not have a study break for more than two years to be eligible. The candidates pursuing classes XI and XII should have cleared the class X board exams with the required score. Those selected will receive a variable post-matric Nagaland scholarship amount for their education.

Nagaland State Merit Scholarship

This Nagaland state merit scholarship scheme is available to students belonging to the ST and indigenous communities. They should have obtained at least 80% marks in the HSLC or HSSLC exams. However, the degree students should have secured a minimum of 70% marks in their previous qualifying exam. Those pursuing an undergraduate degree should have studied in an institution having a valid AISHE/ UDISE code. The government will reward the selected candidates with a Nagaland scholarship 2023 amount for their higher studies. However, the applicants should maintain consistent marks until the end of their course to continue receiving the benefits. 

Nagaland Scholarships for Research Scholars 

The state government provides the Nagaland scholarship for research scholars pursuing an MPhil, PhD or DLitt degree. This scheme applies to the bonafide residents of Nagaland belonging to the ST and indigenous tribes. The applicants should study at a government recognised institution with a valid AISHE/ UDISE code. In addition, they should provide their supervisor details while filling in the Nagaland scholarship form. The scholars can apply and benefit from this programme only up to three times. 

Nagaland Scholarship Renewals for NEC Students 

The department of higher education, under the state government, provides the Nagaland scholarship renewal to NEC merit students. Therefore, the applicants who had previously applied to the NEC merit scheme can re-apply through the official Nagaland state scholarship portal. However, those applying for the first time should submit the applications through the NSP portal. They should be pursuing a course approved by the North Eastern Council (NEC) at a recognised institution with an AISHE/ UDISE code to be eligible for the programme.

Nagaland Scholarships for Technical Students 

The state government offers monetary assistance to its domiciles pursuing a technical course through this Nagaland government scholarship scheme. It is exclusively available to students belonging to the ST category and pursuing a diploma, undergraduate or postgraduate degree in an institution recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Those pursuing a bachelor's or masters in Forestry are also eligible to apply. However, the applicants should ensure their family income does not exceed INR 6,00,000 per annum, and they should also fulfil the other Nagaland scholarship eligibility criteria.

Ishan Uday Scholarship 

The University Grants Commission (UGC) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) provides the Ishan Uday scholarship to the students from North Eastern Region (NER), including Nagaland. The candidates who have passed the class XII board exam with an annual income not exceeding INR 4,50,000 can apply to this Nagaland government scholarship scheme. They should be pursuing a course in an educational institution recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to apply. The providers will award a Nagaland scholarship amount of INR 5,400 per month to students pursuing a general degree and INR 7,800 to those pursuing technical, mechanical, professional or paramedical courses.

NEC Scholarship 

The Government provides the NEC scholarship to students from Nagaland and North Easter Region pursuing a diploma, undergraduate degree, postgraduate, MPhil and PhD degree. The applicants belonging to the general category should have secured a minimum of 70% marks. However, those from the SC/ST category should obtain at least 60% marks in the previous qualifying exam. To be eligible, they should also have a family income of not more than INR 8,00,000 per annum from all the sources. The candidates selected will receive a Nagaland scholarship 2023 amount of INR 30,000 per annum.

The candidates can apply online to the state-funded scholarship scheme through Nagaland's department of higher education portal. Given below are the application procedure to apply for the state-funded schemes: 

Step 1: The candidates should visit the official Nagaland scholarship portal.

Step 2: The first time applicants should register themselves by providing the required details and submitting them.

Step 3: Upon completing the Nagaland online scholarship registration process, they will obtain the login details.

Step 4: Next, they should log into the portal by providing the Nagaland scholarship login details and filling in the application form.

Step 5: In addition, the candidates should also upload valid documents.

Step 6: After filling the application form, they are advised to cross-verify the details and submit them within the respective deadline.
