CSIR NET 2020 Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for CSIR is quite simple. This exam opens the gateway to the academic world. Therefore, anyone applying for the exam must have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from any recognized college. Above all, one must be an Indian National to apply for the CSIR NET.

Before applying for the CSIR NET 2020 Candidates should check the eligibility for the exam set by the NTA. All the details of the eligibility criteria are described below. If a person has satisfied all the mentioned criteria then he or she may read the CSIR Syllabus and begin his or her preparation.

Note: Candidates possessing only Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply only for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and not for Lectureship (LS).

CSIR NET 2020 Educational Qualification

The eligibility criteria for CSIR NET as follows:

  • The candidates must have passed BS-MS/ BS-4 years/ BE/ B.Tech/ B.Pharma/ MBBS with minimum 55% marks for General/ OBC category candidates and 50% marks for SC/ ST/ PwD category candidates.
  • The candidates should have passed B.Sc (Hons) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in the Integrated MS-Ph.D. program with a minimum of 55% marks for General/ OBC category candidates and 50% marks for SC/ ST/ PwD category candidates.

  • Candidates enrolled for M.Sc or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination as on the closing date of online submission of Application Form, are also eligible to apply in the above subject under the Result Awaited (RA) category on the condition that they complete the qualifying degree with requisite percentage of marks within the validity period of two years to avail the fellowship from the effective date of award.

  • Specification of degrees (whether Bachelor’s or Master’s) as notified by the UGC in its Gazette Notification No. F. 5-1/2013 (CPP-II) dated 5th July 2014 and as amended from time to time, shall apply.

  • The eligibility for Lectureship of NET qualified candidates will be subject to fulfilling the criteria laid down by UGC. Ph.D.holders who have passed Master’s Degree before 19th September 1991 with minimum 50% marks are eligible to apply for Lectureship only.
