What is the Joseph Mundassery Scholarship?

The Joseph Mundassery Scholarship is an initiative of the Department of Minority Development, Government of Kerala which provides financial assistance to economically backward students to complete their education. The scholarship is provided to meritorious students belonging to minority communities such as Christian, Buddhism, Jain, Sikh, Muslim, or Parsi pursuing education at SSLC, Plus 2, and Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) level and are domicile of Kerala state. The last date for the Joseph Mundassery scholarship application is December 27, 2020.

Joseph Mundassery Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

The Joseph Mundassery Scholarship is awarded to meritorious students belonging to Kerala state. The other eligibility criteria for the scholarship application are listed below:

  • The applicants who are permanent residents of Kerala are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • The candidates should be having a bank account in their name in any of the Nationalized Banks.
  • The applicant should be belonging to minority communities such as Christian, Buddhism, Jain, Sikh, Muslim, or Parsi.
  • The students from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families are also eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • The candidate should be pursuing studies from Government or Government-aided school/ institution.
  • The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed INR 8,00,000 from all sources.

Prof Joseph Mundassery Scholarship Rewards and Benefits:

The Prof Joseph Mundassery scholarship awards variable financial aid based on the education level of the students. The detailed benefits offered are given below:

  • A scholarship amount of INR 10,000 is awarded to SSLC students with A+ grades in all subjects.
  • UG level students with an academic score of 80% and above get a scholarship amount of INR 15,000.
  • PG level students with an academic score of 75% and above get a scholarship amount of INR 15,000.

Joseph Mundassery Scholarship Application Process:

The Joseph Mundassery Scholarship 2020-21 registration is done online through the DMW scholarship portal. The step by step application process is given below:

  1. Interested applicants should visit the Minority Welfare Scholarships online portal.
  2. He/ she should click on the ‘Prof. Joseph Mundassery Scholarship Award (PJMS)’ link and should click on the ‘Apply Online’ button.
  3. The candidate should register on the portal and fill in important fields such as personal details, educational details, bank details, etc.
  4. He/ she should create a password to secure the account and for future login.
  5. The applicant should accept the terms and conditions mentioned in the declaration and then submit the Joseph Mudassery scholarship Registration application.
  6. The candidate should then click on the ‘Candidate Login’ and log in to the portal using the newly created credentials (ID and password) generated during the registration process.
  7. The applicant should upload the photo, signature, and all the relevant documents and take a printout of the submitted application.
  8. Finally, the candidate should sign and 'Submit' the application with all the supporting documents to the Directorate of Minority Welfare, 4th Floor, Vikas Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram - 695033.

Professor Joseph Mundassery Scholarship Documents Required:

The important documents to be uploaded along with the Professor Joseph Mundassery scholarship application are listed below:

  1. Scanned copy of Aadhar card/ NPR card
  2. Copy of SSLC/ Class 12/ VHSE mark sheet
  3. Copy of allotment memo
  4. Income certificate of the applicants’ parent/ guardian
  5. Copy of the first page of the bank passbook
  6. Residential certificate/ Domicile certificate
  7. Copy of Community certificate/ Minority certificate
  8. Copy of Nativity certificate
  9. Recent passport size photograph
  10. Printout of the Registration form with photo affixed
  11. Copy of Ration card
  12. BPL card (if applicable)

Note: The documents that have to be submitted by the applicant should be verified by the respective head of the institution or any other authorized person and the applications that have been verified and approved online should reach the below-mentioned address before the last date of the scholarship application.

The step-wise process to access the SSLC and HSC/ VHSE selection list is given below:

SSLC Selection List Access:

  • The candidate should visit the Minority Welfare Scholarships online portal.
  • He/ she should click on the ‘Prof. Joseph Mundassery Scholarship Award (PJMS)’ link.
  • The students should then click on the ‘SSLC Selection List’ link displayed on the webpage.
  • The candidate should enter the details such as Scholarship Type, State, District, and
    Name of the College/ Institution.
  • A list of the students selected along with the respective institution name is displayed on the screen.

HSC/ VHSE Selection List Access:

  1. The candidate should visit the Minority Welfare Scholarships online portal.
  2. He/ she should click on the ‘Prof. Joseph Mundassery Scholarship Award (PJMS)’ link.
  3. The students should then click on the ‘HSC/ VHSE Selection List’ link displayed on the webpage.
  4. The candidate should enter the details such as Scholarship Type, State, District, Institution Type, Name of the College/ Institution, and Stream.
  5. A list of the students selected along with the respective institution name, stream, and the percentage is displayed on the screen.
