What is the Jindal Scholarship?

The Jindal Scholarship is a merit-cum-means scholarship provided by the Sitaram Jindal Foundation to deserving meritorious students who belong to underprivileged backgrounds. Students studying in Class 11, 12, ITI, Diploma, Graduation, and Postgraduation can apply for the Jindal scholarship.

Sitaram Jindal Foundation Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

Economically weak students from Class 11 to Postgraduate level are provided with the Sitaram Jindal Scholarship. The general criteria to be met to avail the scholarship are:

  • All candidates applying for the scholarship should not exceed the age limit of 30.
  • For an employed family, the annual family income of the applicant should not exceed INR 4,00,000.
  • For others, the annual family income of the candidate should not exceed INR 2,50,000.

 The category wise eligibility criteria for the Jindal Scholarship are listed below:

Category Eligibility Criteria

A- Class 11 and 12

  • Applicants should be studying in 11th-12th Grade.
  • Male candidates should score at least 65% in the previous qualifying exam.
  • Female candidates should score at least 60% in the previous qualifying exam.
  • Karnataka students should score at least 75% for boys and 70% for girls to be eligible.
  • West Bengal students should score a minimum of 70% for boys and 65% for girls to avail the scholarship.

B- ITI students

  • Candidate should be an ITI student from any Private / Government college.
  • Male applicants should have scored at least 50% and female applicants should have scored at least 40% in the last qualifying examination.

C- Graduates

  • Candidate should be studying any Graduate course in the field of agriculture, hospitality, etc to be eligible.
  • Male applicants should have scored at least 60% and female applicants should have scored at least 55% in the last qualifying examination.
  • Karnataka students should score at least 70% for boys and 65% for girls to be eligible.
  • West Bengal students should score a minimum of 65% for boys and 60% for girls to avail the scholarship.

C- Postgraduates

  • Candidate should be studying any Postgraduate course in the field of agriculture, hospitality, etc to be eligible.
  • Male applicants should have scored at least 65% and female applicants should have scored at least 60% in the last qualifying examination.
  • Karnataka students should score at least 70% for boys and 65% for girls to be eligible.

D- Diploma

  • Candidate should be studying any Diploma course in the field of agriculture, hospitality, nursing, pharmacy, etc to be eligible.
  • Male applicants should have scored at least 60% and female applicants should have scored at least 55% in the last qualifying examination.

E- Engineering and Medicine

  • Candidates studying any Graduate or Postgraduate course in the field of engineering or medicine (except MDS students) are eligible.
  • Male applicants should have scored at least 70% and female applicants should have scored at least 65% in the last qualifying examination.

 Note:

  • For all the physically challenged or handicaps, the eligibility percentage of marks is minimum pass marks.
  • For the continuation of the scholarship, the minimum percentage of marks is relaxed by 5%.

Rewards and Benefits of Jindal Scholarship:

The benefits of Jindal scholarship is different for different categories based on the course pursued by the candidates. The detailed description of the benefits is given below:

C- Postgraduates

  • INR 1200 for General category girls
  • INR 1000 for General category boys
  • INR 1200 for physically challenged
  • INR 1500 for Widows and unmarried wards of Ex-servicemen

D- Diploma

  • INR 1200 for girls
  • INR 1000 for boys

E- Engineering and Medicine

  • INR 1700 for girls pursuing Engineering
  • INR 1500 for boys pursuing Engineering
  • INR 2000 for girls pursuing Medicine
  • INR 1800 for boys pursuing Medicine
  • INR 2500 for girls pursuing Postgraduation in Engineering or Medicine
  • INR 2300 for boys pursuing Postgraduation in Engineering or Medicine

For students staying in hostels

  • INR 800 for students studying ITI/ Diploma/ Graduation/ PG courses
  • INR 1200 for students studying Graduation/ Postgraduation in Engineering/ Medicine

Jindal Scholarship Application Process:

The Jindal scholarship application form is available online on the Jindal Scholarship Official Website. Important points to note for the application process are:

  • The Jindal scholarship application form can be submitted online or offline. 
  • Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship at any time as it remains open throughout the year.
  • The students can apply for the scholarship whenever required but only once during the entire duration of the course.
  • The Jindal scholarship application form should be filled completely with all valid details and attached with all the necessary documents before submission.

 Form Submission address:

Students belonging to different states have to submit the form at different addresses. The details of which are given below:

  • Students from Andhra Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Island, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadeep, Maharashtra, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Telangana should send the completed form with all the supporting documents to: 

       The Trustee, Sitaram Jindal Foundation, Jindal Nagar, Tumkur Road, Bengaluru 560073.

  • Students from  Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal should send the completed form with all the supporting documents to:

       The Trustee, Sitaram Jindal Foundation 11, Green Avenue, Behind Sector D-3Vasant Kunj, New Delhi 110070.

 Documents Required for the Jindal Scholarship:

  • Passport size photo
  • Copy of marks sheet of the last examination
  • Copy of SSLC/ HSC marks card
  • Copy of BPL card and income certificate for PUC/ ITI students
  • Copy of income certificate for Graduate/ Postgraduate/ Diploma/ Engineering/ Medicine students
  • Certificate regarding annual fees paid
  • Declaration about not getting scholarship from any other source
  • Certificate regarding admission under Government merit quota
  • Certificate from warden/ accommodation owners regarding stay
  • For physically disabled students, certificate of physical disability from the concerned authority
  • PPO, Ex-servicemen widow I-card, and Relationship dependency card for widows and Ex-servicemen.
