What is the Google Scholarship?

The Google scholarship is awarded by Google Inc. to students who want to pursue a career in technology. There are several scholarships provided by Google that help school students, women in technology, developers, and individuals to make a mark in the technological world. The Google Scholarship Program not only provides financial assistance but also an opportunity to learn through workshops and training.

Types of Google Scholarship Programs:

Google Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

Google Scholarships are awarded to students who have an inclination towards technology. Every scholarship scheme has its set eligibility criteria. The detailed eligibility criteria for each scholarship scheme is listed below:

Women Techmakers Scholars Program (formerly known as Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship Program)

  • The scholarship is only available for women applicants (including graduates and postgraduates).
  • The candidate should be enrolled as a full-time student in an undergraduate program from a recognized university.
  • She should be in the 1st/ 2nd year of undergraduate program.
  • The applicant should be studying computer science, computer engineering or any other technology-related field.
  • Candidate should have a strong academic record and should have the enthusiasm to associate more women to technology.

2.

Venkat Panchapakesan Memorial Scholarship

  • Applicants who aspire to become computer scientists and technology leaders are eligible to apply.
  • The candidate should have a passion for computer science and technology and help others to excel at it.
  • He/ she should have excellent leadership skills.
  • The candidate should be enrolled in an undergraduate program from a reputed university.
  • The applicant should be studying computer science, computer engineering or any other technology-related field.

3.

Google Conference and Travel Scholarship

  • The scholarship is available for students all over the world.
  • To attend a conference in India, the candidate should be enrolled in a recognized university and should require a conference travel fund.
  • He/ she should have a paper accepted at a top-tier computer science conference.
  • Preference is given to a conference in research areas in which Google has a strong interest.
  • The applicant should be the primary author of the accepted paper.

4.

Doodle 4 Google India Contest

  • Students from Class 1- 10 are eligible to apply.
  • The applicants should have the required permission from their parents/ guardians/ school teachers.
  • Contractors, interns, employees, officials, etc of Google are not eligible to apply.

5.

Google India Code to Learn Contest

The contest is open to Indian students under 3 categories:

  • Class 5 and 6
  • Class 7 and 8
  • Class 9 and 10

The applicants can enter the contest only through their respective computer teachers.

6.

Udacity- Google Developer Scholarship

  • The scholarship is available only for Indian citizens who are eager to master web and mobile development skills.
  • The candidate should be 18 years of age as on the date of application submission.

Google Scholarship Rewards and Benefits:

The scholarship program provides financial assistance to the scholars and also workshops and training for their benefit. The rewards that the applicants get from the different scholarships under the Google scholarship program are listed below:

Venkat Panchapakesan Memorial Scholarship

  • Selected candidates get a financial reward of USD 750 for education and tuition expenses.
  • Applicants get a chance to visit the Youtube headquarters in California.

3.

Google Conference and Travel Scholarship

  • Financial rewards of USD 1000- USD 3000 that cover the cost of conference registration, travel, accommodation, and other related expenses.

4.

Doodle 4 Google India Contest

For the National winner:

  • College scholarship worth INR 5,00,000.
  • Technology package worth INR 5,00,000 to the School/ NGO.
  • Certificate/ Trophy of achievement.
  • Trip to Google India office.
  • Google hardware and Fun Google swag.

For the National finalists:

  • Certificate of achievement.
  • Google hardware and Fun Google swag.

For Group winners:

  • College scholarship worth INR 2,50,000
  • Technology package worth INR 1,00,000 to the School/ NGO.
  • Certificate of achievement.
  • Trophy/ medal of recognition.
  • Trip to Google India office.
  • Google hardware and Fun Google swag.

5.

Google India Code to Learn Contest

  • The selected candidate gets a certificate of achievement.
  • He/ she also gets a Chromebook laptop or equivalent gift.

6.

Udacity- Google Developer Scholarship

  • Applicants get access to the Udacity online courses.

The scholarship is provided in 2 phases:

Phase 1:

  • 1000 challenge scholarships will be given to students to access any 3-month Udacity course.

Phase 2:

  • 1000 full Nanodegree scholarships will be given to the students to access any 6-month Udacity course. 

In both the phases, the applicants take the online courses that comprise project reviews, community support, and mentorship.

Google Scholarship Application Process:

The application process for Google scholarship is online. The application form for the different scholarships become live for a limited time duration. Interested candidates are required to keep track of the application timeline and apply before the deadline. The application process for the different scholarship are as follows:
