What is the DAAD Scholarship?
Awarded by the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, German Academic Exchange Service, the DAAD Scholarship provides funding for the international exchange of students and researchers. DAAD has set up a network of regional offices and information centers in the partner countries through which all the information about the DAAD scholarship programs, grants, and bilateral research projects is provided to the students. DAAD India is one such regional office set in India which caters to students from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

DAAD Scholarship Application Process:
The different scholarships under the DAAD Scholarship have different application procedures. The candidates are selected based on academic achievements and the quality of the project. The application process for all the scholarships are given below:
Bilateral Exchange of Academics:
- The application process for this exchange program is done online through the official DAAD portal.
- The portal opens 6 weeks before the last date of the program.
Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS):
- Interested applicants should visit the official DAAD portal and download the application form.
DLR-DAAD Research Fellowship Programme:
- Applicants should apply online through the official DAAD portal.
Helmut-Schmidt-Programme (Master’s Scholarship for Public Policy and Good Governance- PPGG):
- Applicants should submit the completed application form to the respective universities.
India IIT Master-Sandwich-Programme (IIT):
- Applicants should apply online through the official DAAD portal.
- He/ she should submit the important documents to the Dean’s office of the home institution.
Master of European Law (MEL):
- Applicants should apply online through the official DAAD portal.
- A copy of the ‘Application Summary’ should be sent via post to the Regional Office in New Delhi.
Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience (PRIME):
- Applicants should apply online through the official DAAD portal.
Practical Traineeships for Foreign Students of Natural and Technical Sciences, Agriculture and Forestry (IAESTE):
- To apply for the Internship program in Germany, the applicant should contact the IAESTE National Committee of India for the application submission.
Research Grants - Cotutelle Doctoral Programmes:
