Central Sector scheme of scholarships for college and university students provides an opportunity for Class 12 passed students studying in school or university. The main aim of the Indian Government is to uplift the children of underprivileged families by providing them financial assistance for their children's day-to-day expenses to sustain while pursuing higher education. 

All the selected applicants will get up to INR 20,000 per annum from the scholarship program, and the tentative last date for application is January 17, 2023.

Central Sector Scholarship Scheme Eligibility Criteria

The applicants must ensure the following requirements are fulfilled before applying for the Central Sector scheme of scholarship for college and university students. Listed below are the eligibility criteria to apply for the NSP central sector scheme of scholarship for college and university students are as follows:

  • They should have above 80th percentile in the relevant stream successfully in class 12 or equivalent of respective state examination boards. 
  • The candidates must be pursuing a regular course in Medical and Engineering in a college or Institution recognized by the AICTE, Medical Council of India (MCI), Dental Council of India (DCI), and other respective regulatory jurisdictions. 
  • The annual income of the family should not exceed INR 8 Lakh from all sources.
  • They must not be in the coupon for any other scholarship. 

Central Sector Scholarship Scheme Rewards 

The organization will offer the affected students up to INR 10,000 to 20,000 per annum.  Here are the benefits of the  Central Sector Scheme of scholarship for college and university students. The selected candidates will be provided with financial support which will vary on their education level. 

  • Graduation Level: A scholarship of INR 10,000 per annum will be provided to the candidates for the first three years.  
  • Post-Graduation Level: An amount of INR 20,000 per annum will be provided to the candidates. 
  • For 5-years Professional Courses: INR up to 20,000 per annum will be provided in the 4th and 5th year mainly. 

Note: For technical courses such as B.Tech and B.E Degree, the selected candidates will receive a scholarship for graduation level only. 

How to Apply?

The candidates can apply online for the Central Sector scheme of scholarship for college and university student. They can apply for the post by using the step given below:

Step 1: The candidates must visit the official website. 

Step 2: Click on the "Apply Now" button below and read all the details carefully. 

Step 3: Then select the undertaking button and click on the register button given below.

Step 4: The candidates must select the state of domicile, scholarship category (post matric), scheme type (scholarship scheme), gender, write the application name, date of birth, mobile number, email id.  

Step 5: The candidates must provide bank details such as (bank name, IFSC code, account number)

Step 6: Select the aadhar card or the account number as identification details and click on the register button. 

Step 7: After this, the student's phone number will be registered and an OTP will be created.

Step 8: Now, the applicant must log in using OTP and fill in the details carefully. 

Step 9: An application id and password will be generated.

Selection Criteria 

The applicants are also required to qualify for the selection process for the  Central Sector scheme of scholarship for college and university students. Candidates can be selected based on their merit list as per the state-allocated quota. The application of the candidates will be verified at two different levels.

    • By the Institute where the students were studying. 
    • By the respective State Education Board. 

Terms and Conditions 

There are certain conditions while applying for the  Central Sector scheme of scholarship for college and university students. The terms and conditions are as follows:

  • The candidates belonging to reserved categories such as minorities or weaker section are eligible for reservation based on merit list or subject to central reservation policy and internal earmarking. 
  • The candidates who are not verified either by the Institute or by the state education board or by both, that candidates will be treated as Invalid candidates
  • The duration of the scholarship will not exceed 5 years
  • Here, 50% of the total scholarship is reserved for girls students.
  • A total of 82,000 fresh scholarships are disbursed every year amongst the passed out Science, Commerce, and Humanities streams in the ratio of 3:2:1.

The candidates can submit the central sector scholarship scheme renewal form through the national scholarship portal. They can easily retrieve their central sector scholarship login password by clicking on 'forgot password' and can recover it after providing their application ID and OTP. I belong to the general category. Can I still apply for the central sector scheme of scholarship for college and university students?

Yes, the students from the general category can also apply to the central sector scholarship 2021 schemes. However, the government reserves 15%, 7.5%, 27% and 5% of the central sector scholarship schemes for students belonging to the SC, ST, OBC and PwDs categories.
